Reservation will give opportunity not equality. Diversity Training: WHY Indian upper caste do not get enraged for violence against dalits the way white people in west fight for rights of non whites. Recently many people discussed this issue on social media ( you tube atleast some dalit media channels.) There are many reasons. Biggest one is theory of karma , which makes people believe dalits deserve the life they got due to past life karmas and any thing they get to mitigate their bad situation is non deserving and kind of favor to them. This is at subconscious level and people hardly recognize it. But let's keep that for other time as it by itself a very deep and broad topic.Another reason is white guilt against racism vs Caste pride in subcontinent. Let's keep that for some other time as well. Coming to the issue: because most people don't see caste system as an Issue or atleast their issue. They don't see how caste system has harmed nation for miliniums and still doing it. For educated upper caste: they see some intercaste marriage between upper castes and declare caste system non existent. Most of them know Caste system through reservation system and start hating undeserving lower castes because they do not know and are not taught history of the land and why we came to this point. For them it's unjust ( technically they are right it's positive descrimination in favor of dalits) and need to go. They are not taught how for thousands of years dalits were not allowed into temples, segregated from society and only after constitution they got basic human rights. They don't realize how this issue threatens national security as well( naxalite movement). They don't realize how caste system among upper caste also is detrimental to the unity of nation. Is Caste based politics not hindrance and threat to unity of nation. Stark inequality is a recognized threat to democracy and prosperity in any society. Don't we need to address that? They are not taught in school why India remain segregated compared to societies around globe due to caste system. There are similar things like caste in other countries but nothing as vicious as Caste system. Example: In my school ( one of the best in Gujarat at the time) mostly attended by upper caste ( jains, Patel, Bania, Brahmin) they would announce list of castes ( lower caste) and if you belong to any of them you go to office in the middle of lecture. Then they ask if your parents earn enough or you need to apply for certain assistance , if not you need to submit a letter in writing. Class used to burst into laughing when they announce these castes because most of the these caste names are used as curse words in Local language. This is their experience with other lower caste. Teachers also used to laugh but missed opportunity to teach students that just how proudly they say their caste some are cursed to be in caste which is curse word for no fault of theirs ( karma theory comes in to play here) and that is wrong. No need to say No religious diversity as well. ******** Solution: ********* What we can really use is diversity Training program like in US , starting from primary school to college and work place. In this we can include all kinds of descrimination ( handicap, gender, race (north east people, ) , regional biases, sexual orientation and caste descrimination. People should learn what kind of behavior is not appropriate, not legal, how to identify it, what are your legal rights, how can you help prevent it. Media can help spread awareness too. Remember : " Mile sur Mera tumhara" or " Chalo padhaye kuch Kar dikhaye". School kids can have projects like making pen friends ( Facebook) from other religions, other caste, from different backgrounds. Summer project can be to educate some one illiterate. You can be creative and sky is the limit. Trips to local village where people still practicing these descrimination. This will create awareness and pressure to get rid of caste system based and other descrimination. Dr Ambedkar said unless people share bread, birth, death , joy and sorrows together they will not feel cohesion in their hearts. People need to know women ( Common women)did not have right to property and inheritance until constitution gave them that right. In absence of that knowledge they just hate Dr Ambedkar as someone who has imposed reservation for dalits and hate him along with dalits. In really Dr Ambedkar had to resign fighting for these rights for women ( Hindu code bill) and not a single leader of the time supported him and hindy leaders vehemently opposed it.( We were not that liberal as we are told, and we still aren't compared to West) These things need to be discussed and debated. But how many social science students study such things? In villages people still don't mingle in each others birth, death and marriage ceremony, seperate cemetery, seperate well. A lot need to be done. This is a proven thing which has worked in US and West, can work in India as well. Only change in attitude will bring equality. We need to ask for this in every State and national level this should be implemented. There are other things that can be donebut that for other time. Please start spreading word (email to people in power,in person what ever way) we have lost 73 years can't wait anymore. But unfortunately, contrary to what is required, there is a big movement going on in which they deny there is or ever was Caste descrimination in India. There is a big effort to blame whole thing on British ( Check Rajiv Malhotra, subramaniam swami etc on KZfaq). If we don't accept problem how and when are we going to solve it.

Dear Suraj Yengde, can not express my respect in words for this speech. I will just say thank you for bringing clarity in my views. Being a brahmin I have seen the discrimination so closely, but was not aware of the privileges I was enjoying. Once I went for higher education I had to compeate with all those people who enjoyed even more privilege. Suddenly I started feeling incompetent and felt like a dalit would have felt near my locality. Now due to your lecture I am able to identify the fact, when the race is not yours, rules don't fit you how can you compete with those who are trained for it. In the end, I feel the tenth marksheet which is the most valuable certificate in our country should have weigtage for all aspects of jobs that a society does. Then only we can talk about real marit.

dear sister, do not try to hide your identity. 1. You will not be able to 2. It will kind of instill inferiority in your mind. Just face it bravely and with pride. People will try to make you feel ashamed but in the end you will win. There is no easy way out of it but this is the best way to deal with the problem at hand. In the end, you will perhaps succeed in changing that one person in how he or she looks at caste or lower caste.

Ques. How do the sa-varn people sleep well at night, even after committing institutional violence on Bharat Mulnivasi people? Ans. The reason is rooted in their 'hindu' religion. All filled with stories of 'rakshasa' which is basically our people, imagined in a degraded way in their religion. They worship images of imaginary god/goddesses having killed 'rakshasa'. Thus, they feel no remorse, no empathy towards the suffering they have caused. Calling them 'narcissistic' even, would be a gross understatement. Ques. What is 'dalit love'? Ans. It is a false hope which will never be fulfilled. We have seen so many examples of sa-varn girls vying to marry a SCSTOBC boy, only when he has cracked some prestigious exam, like UPSC. And after that we have seen numerous examples of these sa-varn women driving their 'dalit' husbands to destruction, even suicide. So this 'dalit-love' is NOT a virtue, it is a delusion that the enemy, the oppressor is as moral, deep down, as the original Buddhists of India. Ques. Have 'dalits' never fought? Ans. Have! In year 1818, January 1, Bhima Koregaon. Only 500 soldiers destroyed 30,000 brahmins horsemen and put a total end to Peshwai. One thinks this a more honorable way out of this caste hell than the self-deluding 'dalit-love' which, frankly, we all know, won't find reciprocity. I mean, these brahmin people even betrayed The Buddha!!!

Interesting to hear about this story of the Indians who ended up in South Africa and their acquiring of new identities, ie., others assuming new names and rejecting some aspects of their past that were not desirable.

You're right, the Vedic texts - Rig, Yajur, Sama, and Atharva - offer a rich tapestry of ancient wisdom and rituals. However, a modern 10th-standard education in India equips students with a different, and equally valuable, set of skills for life Bard ♥️♥️🌹🌹 So happy I cleared and daughter cleared 10th.
