Great video! Dragon trainer of 20 years here. Just a quick tip when spelling with your voice you can use the military alphabet to help dragon understand your letters better. For example alpha, bravo, charlie, etc

Hi, just noticed your mention of being a Dragon trainer. Would you happen to know if Dragon would work well for an interview setting, where I typically need to transcribe both sides of the conversation? One side would consistently be me, so it can train nicely with prolonged usage, but the other side would have a different interpreter speaking daily and I'm wondering how the software would manage that. If it's poor performing with the latter, do you think one can easily disengage the software from attempting to transcribe that one side of the conversation before switching back to my side?

Came here to setup Dragon for the first time to get my 86 year old grandfather, who still publishes and edits in polisci, up and running. Found the video just as detailed and comprehensive as I wanted. You helped me get Dragon trained on his documents to accommodate his jargon while getting a introductory grasp on the voice commands. Thanks so much for this. Liked and Subbed to help your channel grow!

Dude - love the video! I used Dragon 15 for some months back in 2019, and it was a bit of a life-saver to be able to still do my work at work (so to speak). I was just wondering about upgrading to Dragon 16, but after a bit of searching I've found Windows 11 has a feature called "Voice Access", I've just tried it and it looks like they've pinched a lot of stuff from Dragon (!). It is free in Windows 11 which is kind of amazing. It does control and dictation. The only bummer so far is that it looks a little slow in its response, which may grind after a while, but give it a try! (sorry - long post!)

Scott Barker does a couple of fantastic books on using dragons and has some great recommendations for mics and headsets. I use a basic plantronics headset which is excellent

Mic suggestions: I have both the OpenComm2 UC mic by Shokz [wireless] and the Sony WH-XB910N [also wireless]. The Sony is better for Dragon recognition by a very small margin but the Shokz bone-conduction mic is incredably light st only 28grams. It has the added advantage you can hear external sounds [no ear plugs!]. Mic has good sound canceling. The Shokz can be comfortably worn all day and has an excellent all-day battery life. Regretably, neither of these mics come cheap but, like always, you get what you pay for. However, neither are they disastrously expensive either. If you're doing Dragon [I'm using Pro16] and can afford only one mic, my suggestion is go for the Shokz. I hope this helps everybody. 😊

My solution for getting rid of RSI, besides using Naturally Speaking, was taking B12 and regular exercise, to increase blood flow

If Microsoft had their own social media platform, instead of kicking people off, they would just have the algorithm block unwanted content, and for spam they would have a feature that would allow you to be investigated further

I don't know what it is, I've been using this software for over a year, and certain words no matter how many times I try to correct them and train them, words that I use 200+ times a day, and yet it still hasn't learned them and gets them completely wrong every time

I notice that you have a Yeti microphone listed do you need to have that to work with the Dragon. I did purchase the Artis 7+ microphone but have issues with it working with the Dragon Pro 15. Do you have specific information on how to use that Headphone with the dragon.

Thanks very much for this video. It's cool to see somebody with such a mastery of Dragon as well as the tips and tricks you have given us. I would be interested to hear more about your head mouse and I have also seen that Windows supports eye-tracking devices as well. Have you looked into those? Another thing I'd be interested seeing demonstrated is using Dragon for Photoshop, might be tricky! EDIT: just seen your dedicated head mouse video. :)

Hmm. Have you tried Windows Voice Recorder? It should be on Windows 11. I haven't used it so can't say how well it works.

When I say "click link" it just opens up the dictation box and puts the words "click link" in there instead of actually allowing me to click any of the browser links! It does this with other commands too, including "Switch to Microsoft edge." I have it set to Normal Mode.

Great video! I really need this as I'm new to using Dragon and speech to text in general. Has anyone done a video on transitioning from keyboarding to speech to text? I found it to be quite a mental shift. A couple of things I find challenging with Dragon: - it crashes a lot - the Outlook add-in fails a lot - in apps where dictation boxes needed, transfer works about 50% of the time - the browser extensions are uninstalled overnight, probably due to a company policy, but I'm not sure what to ask for - Nuance has done a terrible job providing training for new users and I'm really not sure how to get support for technical difficulties Even with all that in mind, the accuracy is mind blowing compared to the building Windows/Microsoft options. I hope that I can work through most of these issues relatively quickly. Before I lose patience. I wish I could download all of your content into my brain!

thank you for such a great video. I am in need of hands free assistive technology as I have nerve damage in my hands and I cannot type or do mouse work very much. Your video has given me hope. I just graduated in Business/Marketing and was wondering if I could use Dragon in more detailed apps like Canva, Photoshop, or excell or to make power point presentations?

I have used Dragon with Excel and Powerpoint. They're not super fast, but it can be done. I plan to make more how-to guides for these apps!

Would you be able to make a video on using voice commands to move through a variety of web pages including some where you would select certain pieces of information or input data/text into text boxes? Similar to the piece you did on Gibbons. It would also be great to see how you would scroll through social media, make a post on Facebook or Instagram and navigate your gmail.

I think you'd have to cut your audio files up by the speaker, and then have Dragon transcribe them separately. The transcriptions of your guests may need some manual revisions for errors. I'm not thinking of anything super easy for this at the moment...

Thanks for the suggestion. I haven't been able to do these with Dragon 😫 There are hands-free mice like the Abilitare head mouse and the surf mouse, which I covered in other videos.

My work is solely dictation with Dragon software but I struggle with screenshots, images editing and cropping as Dragon does not respond to any commands to do the cropping or the snippet tool on the specific area as one would do moving the cursor. Hmm there should be a way to input the product ID directly into the software. I'm just not sure how to download it without a purchase. Maybe call their customer support? www.nuance.com/support.html

I'm not aware of a cheaper version of Dragon. I know that the default Windows Dictate tool is a good starting point but lacks a lot of features. There may be other cost-effective options out there. I'd be interested to check them out if they exist!

Hello, I am curious to learn, does this software provide not only diction but an equal proportionate audio recording file? I want to be able to hear my voice at the same time I read what I said, and ideally in a perfect world, I would be able to adjust the speed at which I hear my own voice, does anyone know how can this can be achieved in one go? -Thank you

Hmm that's an interesting question. I know that the tool creates a .dra file for each document you dictate to. But I'm not sure if that file provides any flexible functionality for users.

I think this software is not for me. I want to use it as an individual to dictate things in Word. I will be using the Word Dictate version supported by Microsoft Copilot. The pricing of Dragon Naturally Speaking has an insane price for home usage when you only use it for dictation. It is wonderful for professionals and for people with disabilities.

By way I got here looking for volume control by speech. Do You know the best way to control system volume on Windows 10 by speech? I would really love to know how to use the Mute command also.
