I think Sullivan’s classic miniseries the best of the best, but the other versions are nice too. I could never hate a version of Anne that holds true to the heart of the original. AwaE is definitely worth a watch.

I loved their story together they were true equals in the best ways that matter. She never lied to him and he never tried to save her. Her intelligence inspired him and his intelligence challenged her to be better. Watching them grow up was a cinematic masterpiece!!!!!!

Exactly so. Gilbert didn't want someone who would hang off his arm, adore him and follow him everywhere. This is what Anne believed when she turned down his first proposal. What Gilbert wanted was an equal, and Anne was the only one.

He was just a good person. He was able to pack such a beautiful life within his 48 years on Earth. He was all we hoped he was as a person and more. Watching this video made me want to cry which is not good because I currently have a cold.

I love this original version with Megan Follows and Jonathan Crombie. It's so nice that they remain the same actors throughout the years. I do not know the other versions but I am very convinced that the original can not be surpassed, at least in my eyes ..

I love both versions... I don't think that one has to better than the other. Each show has its appeal. The new version tackles other topics... but Anne and Gilbert are lovely characters with a deep love story. Both shows are really awesome.

dramaninjaforever I think it might have to do something with the fact that it’s more dark and diverse. In the book there wasn’t much darkness like the severe and traumatic bullying that occurred in Anne with An E. The series also strays a lot from the novels which the 80s version doesn’t.

This is just THE one and ONLY...no other version will ever replace this version. They are so perfect and watched these when I was young, glued to it and still today fills me an explicable sense of emotion, tears, anticipation and elated delightful nostalgic happiness... I will always love it!!! ❤️❤️

It's a beautiful ending and I love it, but I'm also upset the story has ended. Megan and Jonathan portrayed Anne and Gilbert beautifully. I have a dreadful feeling in my heart knowing there's no more to it. Watching it all over and over again won't do anything really; it'll just make me miss it more.

Another touching thing with this series is they were really children/teenagers (first episodes filmed in 1985) in the first episodes. The last season was filmed in 2000. And they were really grown-up adults. There is no "fake" make-up to age characters. This cannot be found anymore in any series or movies. Everything is so fast without flavor, you know

I watched Anne of Green Gables and Avonlea so many times as a child. I’m now single at 33 and realize that I will never meet my Gilbert Blythe. Reality is hard but this story is truly amazing

I thought I married my Gilbert and ended up with a Billy Andrew. Finally annulled the past 3 years and with my 8yr old daughter and still wistfully thinking deep within if der will be a Gilbert in my life. The Anne Series will always be one of my favorite books.. we all wish for a relationship like they have. Gilbert n Anne brought out the best in each other.

I never found my Gilbert but I found someone better, Our Lord. I literally met him. Literally. I had a vision of Our Lord, which produced an instant, miraculous conversion from 20 years of atheism. Nothing like saving a girl (from Hell) to really sweep her off her feet and make her fall in love, and He's been incomprehensibly incredible to me ever since, so much that I can't even look at a normal guy and vowed never to have one again, because nobody could compare. And now I'm happily marrying Our Lord, ie entering Religious life.

This past weekend I rewatched all the AGG Sullivan films and NOTHING compares. I always get emotional on the love story of Anne and Gilbert. He was in love with her from the start and absolutely adore Jonathan and Megan in these roles. Nothing compares! Also, while the Continuing Story may not be the strongest, seeing Anne and Gilbert FINALLY in love and free of their affections toward each other is absolute pay off.

Well I do not 100% agree. Anne of Green Gables is great and I love it very, very much. However "Anne with an E" gives the story a different depth and more layers. Telling different stories that extend the AoGG Universe. Lets face it, in AoGG we hardly know anything about any characters except for Anne and the Cuthberts. We have know idea what Diana wants, I could not even tell you what Diana likes or dislikes. And we seriously do not know much about Gilbert either except for that he loves Anne and is a great student. But even his wish to become a doctor comes kinda as a surprise in AoGG. So in general the inner conflicts and needs of other characters fall a bit flat in AoGG. It def is a great feel good show prob my fav but Anne with an E is not only about feeling good but also about a broader view at the world and it#s characters.

The chemistry between them was really lovely,I e been binging on this for about two weeks now ,I reside in an assisted living facility,we’ve been on lockdown for nearly nine months now we can’t have visitors,I speak with my son every night ,but I miss him,so I find my happiness vicariously through this ,I’m just a silly old woman,that’s ok I’m embracing my elderly years .

Absolutely loved this. These 3 films are some of my favorites. I agree that in my eyes they are Anne and Gil.. there is no one else that can fill those roles. I'm normally one that wishes movies would stick to the books but the 3rd film is just amazing. It was done so well and I think it fit Megan and Jonathan's portrayal of Anne & Gil perfectly. Makes me so sad he passed.

Just finished the series and movies, and I AM IN LOVE. I'm on the 7th book of the series and I've watched the most modern version of the story but this one omg I think it was my favorite. These two were perfect together. I only wished that they would've stick to the books at the end. It would've been lovely to see their kids :') still, loved this movies and series a lot. I simply love this story. AND THIS EDIT IS JUST BEAUTIFUL, I almost feel like I'm going to cry 😭

This was the first video I ever saw of Anne of Green Gables, before that I'd never watched it, not once. I always heard if it, but never seen it. I was scrolling through random KZfaq videos and decided to watch this one about three or four years ago and I'm so glad that I did. It inspired me to watch AOGG and I fell in love. It became one of my most beloved shows and I connected with Anne on so many ways and I have you to thank for that. Thank you

@@stepconnar9442 SPOILERS Anne with an E! Even though they both now know they have feelings for each other, there are still many ways to mess it up. Gilbert could be stubborn now that he made up his mind to marry Winnifred... or Anne will just come too late with her confession and then she will hold it in... because she thinks it's best for Gilbert etc. Such a storyline could give space for the boat scene to happen. In the books the scene happens when they are 14 and Gilbert asks Anne to finally be friends but she says no... already regretting it moments later. In the 80s show however the boat scene happens when they are 16, after their Queens entrance exam and marks the point when they start to actually get along a better... so I think the boat scene could still happen... eventually marking the point where they finally confess their feelings for each other. But yeah... it is possible that it never will happen... 😁

This is a beautiful video. I wish the video quality would be a bit better, but then it was the eighties *shrug*. What I loved about Gilbert Blythe was the fact that although he was the tall and handsome everybody's lad next door cliche, he grew up to be a very open-minded (though with struggles), supportive and very aware man. It is even in the books, Montgomery created a very modern man who is in awe but not terrified by a head strong woman like Anne. And Jonathan Crombie portrayed him beautifully. He will be my Gil forever. RIP Jonathan.

Of all the Anne of Green Gables cast, the best couple is played by Jonathan Crombie and Megan Follows. A sweet shy and protective man like Gilbert Blythe. Jonathan portrayed Gilbert very very well. Would have loved Jonathan/Gilbert as a soulmate😍😍😍🤪

Thanks! We were looking for a fitting song for the two of them for a while! We also wanted to use the older clips and the newer ones...but sometimes it is difficult to make one fitting story line out of both parts! I think we gave our best to get it right XD

i could watch these movies all day and never get tired. their love story is the best i’ve ever seen and the actors will never compare to any of the remakes. this will always be my favorite movie
