0:00 Introduction: The benefits of liver and why you need it in your diet
0:35 Nutrients in liver
1:14 Is liver toxic?
2:40 Why you should consume liver
8:38 Action steps
11:25 Learn more about detoxification!
Let’s talk about why you should start consuming liver. Liver is the most nutrient-dense food on earth.
Many people don’t want to consume liver because they think it’s filled with toxins. But, while the liver helps you get rid of toxins, it doesn’t store toxins.
Another misconception is that you will get an overload of certain nutrients if you consume liver regularly. This may happen if you consume synthetic vitamins in high amounts, but liver doesn’t contain synthetic vitamins.
There is a very common genetic problem that can lead to a cascade of effects in the body, including:
• A buildup of unusable iron (that can cause symptoms of both high iron and low iron)
• A lack of neurotransmitters (leading to anxiety or depression)
• A lack of DNA repair (can increase your risk of certain cancers)
• An increased risk of colon cancer
• Inflammation
• Fatigue
• Poor cognitive function (leading to decreased memory, focus, and concentration)
• Estrogen dominance (can increase your risk of certain cancers)
• Low testosterone
• Less protection against autoimmune conditions
• Less protection against adverse reactions that can occur after vaccines
To help with this issue, you need plenty of folate and B12. But synthetic versions of these vitamins can make things worse.
However, liver is the best food you can eat for this issue. It has mega amounts of folate and vitamin B12, as well as other associated nutrients you need for this condition.
If you don’t like consuming liver, you can take a supplement that has high amounts of the correct forms of vitamin B12, vitamin B6, and folate.
Action steps:
1. Consume more folate and B12
2. Avoid synthetic foods enriched with folate and B12
3. Minimize alcohol consumption
4. Stop taking synthetic vitamins

WOW!!! I was diagnosed with MTHFR gene Mutation back in 2016 after multiple mid term miscarriages after having 4 healthy pregnancies. I have both Homozygous and Heterozygous genes so I am susceptible to most things that you listed here. I have been suffering from depression, Anxiety and panic attacks for last 8yrs+. I eat healthy as I am a former IIN student, however I suffer from many inflammatory illnesses. I take Vitamin D with K2, methylfolate, B12 and a host of other supplements to help, however I haven't really noticed a decrease in any of my symptoms. I suffer with low heme iron as well and never realized that it was a symptom of MTHFR. This video and information comes to me at a time in my life where I am determined to live healthy and heal no matter what it takes. I truly appreciate all of this information, you are God sent.

Put the chopped liver into the frying pan and cover with a lid (occasionally turning the liver) When the meat is cooked through, turn the heat off and cover in chopped raw onion (one large cooking onion) Throw in some dried parsley, oregano, lemon juice, salt and olive oil Leave the pan lid on top and let it sit for 15 minutes to allow the onion to pull the pungent taste from the liver"

THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION. I Love liver, eat it at least 4/14 meals a week on average. @@Cosmo-Kramer you have to request the the "MTHFR genetic blood test" be done by your doctor. If you want insurance to pay for it, the doctor will probably ask you why you want it to be done. Try this. My favorite is chicken liver adobo (Filipino food). You just need a little oil for sauteing, lots of garlic, bayleafs, crush pepper corns, soy sauce and vinegar. Simple and easy to cook but its super delicious. Don't forget to top it in the rice. Yah it's good for your health. Thank you Doc Eric.

Dr. Berg, I love your channel! I buy grass fed, grass finished beef liver from a local farmer. I eat 1.5 oz. a day. I have had my Genome tested and it showed I had an MTHFR gene and a couple other ones. However I am not low in Folate or B12. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I know that it’s been said that we can turn our Genes off and on. I got C 3 years ago, April 2021 and I’m still suffering. I have done so much research over the past few years that it has brought me to my old root canals and wisdom teeth cavitations are what the root cause is to all my systemic illness. I have so much inflammation in my body, especially my lungs. RANTES in jawbone cavitations can cause all sorts of disease, systemic inflammation and even cancer. I wonder if RANTES could also be at play in turning on Genes?! Working with a Biological Dentist who will be pulling my root canals and cleaning out my wisdom teeth cavitations. I hope I get my life back after this. 😔 Thank you for your channel! ❤️

Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride has the treatment for anything really laid out in her GAPS books. It’s a long of hard work and a long road, in some cases 2 years + but to me SO well worth it! I have started the GAPS protocol and will be on it for probably 2 years if not longer. The younger you are the faster you will probably heal. I’m 42 and have had weird symptoms and issues practically my whole life. So I’m sure it’s going to take my body a lot of time to heal. Hope this helps someone! Please look into her books. Another one is a GAPS stage by stage recipe book by Becky Plotner to help with meal ideas while doing the introduction stages especially. ❤️

Hi ! Great video - crystal clear - well-spoken My issue with liver is when I eat cooked liver, no matter how it's prepared, when I chew the consistency is like chalk and the taste is so disgusting my gag reflex kicks in. EVERY TIME. I've tried beef, chicken, and every other liver out there - gag time every time. Therefore since oysters are the 2nd more nutrient rich and I do not care for oysters nor would I want to load up on shellfish, what other types of fish, meat, poultry, whole grain cereals, beans, lentils - any veggie or fruit - I love them all, what is also a good source for me to get an equivalate liver-dose without the liver 🙂 ? Many thanks !!!

I started eating clean and non gmo , mostly organic as much as possible..even with makeup lotions and such going as clean as possible...when I do eat anything enriched..it hurts my head...the fake folic acid gets into your blood brain barrier and is really bad for people with these genetic mutations...my mother would cook liver when I was little...I'm going to try and start eating it again...its do hard because a lot of people do not take in their nutrients and can not assimilate their food so well...I take enzymes to help that..but much thanks Dr. B I watch many of your vids and really appreciate your wealth of knowledge! After having many vitamin deficiencies for YEARS, even though I was taking Vitamins and extra iron, and also having issues with no mental health meds helping me at all, my new psychiatrist ordered the test for the MTHFR genetic mutation and my test came back positive for 3 different issues to do with malabsorption. So even though I was taking all these meds and vitamins (that contained folate) my body doesn't break down the folate into methylfolate which is what the liver needs (not in folate form) so I've been just wasting years and money. I've started methylfolate with my vitamins (making sure none of them include folate, which can be hard to find!) and I see my psychiatrist next week to find out which meds might work better in my case now that we have this new information. Also, I used to LOVE liver as a kid and teenager, but the last time I tried it I gagged every bite. 😥

I used to be able to get Organ meats ground when I went to the grocery store at the meat counter but one day many years ago the butcher told me he couldn't do that anymore because they weren't allowed to have that meat in the grinder when they ground up regular meat. They'd have to wash it between uses which would waste the meat that was caught in the grinder and also be more trouble than it was worth.

My daughter HATES liver! She is in an assisted living facility for heart problems andvdiabetes. Zero nutritious foods! I buy her organic when possible, also pre cook some freezer meats ie stews, casseroles, packets of meats she incorporates into other meals. These are portioned freezer meals. Point here is …. grass fed ground bf. and frozen organic liver. (She has no clue!) Frozen liver chops up into little bitty pieces. Toss liver onions, garlic beef, (green peppers if you wish ) into skillet…brown . When cool…bag it for freezer. She loves it! I’ve never told her liver was in it….think it would gag her. I know many of the healthy improvement she’s experienced over last two years has been due to addition of more nutritious foods. Thanks Dr. BERG for confirming.❤️ And for all you liver haters out there……….this really works. The addition of 1-2 slices of an organic bacon will absolutely camouflage any liver flavor.

I have MTHFR - compound heterozygous - one faulty gene from both parents. Didn't notice it until later in life then the gene 'switched on' and suddenly my whole life changed. When I eat chicken liver I feel normal - like I used to feel before MTHFR - lots of energy, almost no inflammation and a clear head. My liver loves it when I eat liver because the nutrients are instantly accessible. Good advice about stopping supplements - don't take them all the time, that's why they're called supplements - they supplement your diet. The body has to work hard to break them down and the stomach lining has to be in good shape too. People with MTHFR - focus on eating organic food, reduce chemicals in your environment and detox as much as possible. Stay away from heavy metals - that's in most fish. Green tea seems to help and hemp oil is good too. Sweat out the toxins if you can or dry brush the skin, epsom salt baths and keep the stress down.

Dr. Berg, if a person has the MTHFR mutation, do nutritional sources of B1 like liver and nutritional yeast become ineffective also? My rudimentary understanding is that the only effective route of administration for a MTHFR carrier is sublingual vitamin B. My reason for asking is I just watched your video on nutritional yeast, and I'm keenly interested in trying it because the normal B1 thiamine and benfothiamine tablets I've been taking don't seem to be doing anything for me.
