Winter is quickly setting in, and all of the raised beds have been cleaned off and prepared for the long winter. All of the plants were cut off at the soil level and put into the compost bin, then a layer of compost was added to the bed. After the compost was applied, several inches of wheat straw topped off the beds to prevent winter erosion and leaching of the soil. Only the one small section with lettuce and carrots growing in it still needs to be prepared for winter, but those plants usually grow well into December.
Now we are preparing for the delivery of our Amish-built greenhouse. It has been a long time dream to have a greenhouse, and we are finally getting one. I'll post videos of the delivery of the greenhouse, and as it is set up for winter growing. Looking forward to the new experience.
