Not actually, it was Jimmy Iovine who got Eminem and then he told Dre to get off of his fat ass and make beats for him. Dre always said the he was all about the money. So he put his beats and credibility behind it because he saw the money making machine.

Em nor other white people are being oppressed by a washed up rapper's opinion. Most black people I've talked to give Em credit for his skills and rapping ability. It's top tier, it's just that a lot of his music doesn't have a lot of replay longevity and this is part of how a rapper's overall greatness is judged. As a DJ I can tell you, I don't play much Eminem, nor does it get requested and I spin for a diverse demographic of people. Jay Z, Biggie, Pac, Nas, Lil Wayne, LL Cool J, Dr. Dre, Snoop, Fugees, 50 Cent, OutKast... I could name more... but all these artists have at least 3 or 4 timeless tracks that you can play at most any set and get a VERY positive crowd reaction. The more gifted a person is, the more haters they have. My (thirty year old) son was 8 years old when he started listening to Em, and I hated it ! Over the years, I have changed my mind because he is so gifted. I don't like his message most of the time, but I cant deny the man has mastered his profession. The syntax of the lines in his songs is better than any rap artist I have ever listened to.

If he gets the 5th spot because he's white, then what about the Beastie Boys, MC Search, Vanilla Ice, Paul Wall, Bubba Sparxx, Yelawolf, NF, Tom McDonald, Jack Harlow, etc,.?? Eminem is top 5 because he's fuckin special, with a combo of skills on the mic that are super rare. He shifted the culture, inspired a new generation of rappers and helped bring rap worldwide/into the mainstream, so now the vast majority of rappers who are black can make millions, instead of just a couple "at the top" being pushed heavy by major labels. The disrespect this man gets when he shows and has shown nothing but respect to hiphop is actually insane.

Its a fallacy to compare him to other rappers.Using his colour as an excuse, clearly comes from a place of hate.. Let me explain: He shoudnt be compared to other rappers, cause he broke out of the genre, while everybody else except drake stayed there. Comparing him to someone like jay z,kanye, tupac, biggie its like comparing ants to an elephant. In reality eminem is the 6th highest selling solo artist of all time.Comparing them to him, minimize eminems sucess and makes them look bigger(50 talked about it:"How are you going to compare them like they are equals? He sold 60m more than him") He was competing with BLACK artists that outsold your favorite rappers by millions. Beyonce Alicia Keys Rihanna Mj Prince Mariah Drake They are blacks in the top 10 selling artist of all time list.I dont understand how the race hindered black rappers success in hiphop but not in other genres? Lastly Eminem outsold every race and every genre in 2000s not just blacks. Colour had nothing to do with it. It was the music.

It’s not false. It’s a very very very true statement and the hate he gets? Honestly it’s very well deserved. He has skill, he has talent. In his prime he was exceptional no question. The issue is that, for what Eminem did on the microphone??? He was not the first, he was not the last, he was not the only. All the folks who have the skill like he did? Why did they never move even a fraction of the units like him? It’s because and this is why people get mad at him, but the majority of Eminem fans are not rap fans. They are Eminem fans. If they weren’t? There would be dudes selling more albums who were similar to him in technical skill.

But, because of eminem I am now a fan of Rakim, Redman, 50, Royve Kendrick, J Cole, and so many others that I would have never fucked with if not for Em. That is the impact he has had on Hip Hop for me and probably for millions of others who would have never experienced that if not for Eminem using his music to endorse them.
