Endangered Northbound OBRY Chase, Inglewood through Forks of the Credit to Orangeville! Nov 12 2021

Well as I stated at the top I kind of lied a little in the title & actually started todays NB chase at the Atwood Lane crossing in Mississauga which was actually the FIRST TIME I personally ever filmed the OBRY south of Brampton, just because it’s SO HARD to keep up after Brampton with all the Urban Community Traffic Lights.
Anyhow after that is when I skipped all the way ahead to Inglewood so I could also be forsure the McLaughlin rd closure wouldn’t screw me over again but on Oct 8 I think I managed a pretty decent NB chase & got a few crossings before Inglewood • Rather short NB chase ...
So anyhow today I offer I fine scene of a quick NB chase of the Endangered OBRY at Inglewood, Forks of the Credit Provincial Park, Opersa Valley Gulf Club & finally a quick clip in Alton and arrival back into Orangeville from the Duffern County Rd 109 crossing.
After arrival into Orangeville, little did I know at the time of filming but the covered hopper load for Clorox was actually the LAST railcar load to EVER be delivered to them! A week later on Nov 19 is when it was lifted out and as of Nov 23 their spur apparently has all but been ripped up after I wonder how many years/decades of well reliable rail service directly from Orangeville Yard itself! I honestly wonder if the other last 2 Orangeville customers plan to use the rail until the day the contract fully ends which is Dec 31 or if they’ll be also doing the truck switch just a bit sooner than that? Well find out very soon!

from what i understand Dec 17 will be the last run, The last empty cars are going down to the interchange and CP will be taking the engine back to Welland.

Thank you so much for always keeping me updated on what was happening with this line, I sure as hell will be around to document it but.. have a feeling tho that they’ll be a TON of other railfan chasing the last train so may not necessarily have as much success as I hope with regards to parking with so many cars following the train & stopping at the Xings but I guess we’ll see how things play out 😆🙄

Also thought of another quick question, happen to have any idea what’s to happen with the ballast hopper owned by the OBRY in Orangeville yard in terms of if it’ll be going south also on the last train or should we expect it to remain there & soon be sold & trucked away on a flatbed truck like the Transfer Van? Thanks

Is it my imagination or has that ditchlight been out for a while now ? Did you get a model of 333 for your layout ? I preferred the 1000 but I like the older generation diesels.

The right hand ditch light was working in my video I did on October 8 when I had the mini NB chase from Brampton until I got screwed over by the McLaughlin rd closure (this video was actually to more or less make up for the shots I lost on Oct 8) so not all too long but will probably be out for the rest of the small remaining life on this line. Don’t have a 333 model myself but do have a 4009 model which I had custom painted as a birthday gift for my 15th birthday in 2015. And ya I sadly never got to see 1000 for myself in person as I was only 8 when it got replaced with 4009 & didn’t know exactly at that time when this train ran

Nice catches! Do you think it would be possible to beat 333 to McLaughlin Rd at the WW1 Aviation Museum from Forks of the Credit trestle?

Hmmmm a bit uncertain as to if your referring to the crossing I filmed at in this video where I was stuck behind train at the 3:06 mark (many also refer to it as the scenic McLaughlin rd Xing) but If it’s that one… don’t count on it. Any other McLaughlin rd crossing including the one in Inglewood.. I say definitely

As Of 1/17/2021, It's The End Of The Line, The OBRY Completed it's last run.. A Bunch Of Railfans Waved Goodbye To It at The Brampton Diamond.. It was in service for Just over 25 Years and it will be missed.

Only 2 customers in Orangeville?

Only 2 left at the moment… Back in 2000 when CANDO took over and all the way through CANDOs era there were 4 and always them same old 4 Orangeville customers switched almost bi-weekly. They were Clorox Company of Canada in Orangeville Yard & the other 3 at the north of the yard by Broadway were Rochling Engineering Plastics, Polyone & Direct Plastics. Sometime around 2019-20, Polyone who was the only tank car customer in oil & received some kind of oil based liquid in the tanks changed ownership & a plastic company ‘Geon’ took over their plant but still received the tank cars from OBRY but in the tank cars were a liquid they used to make plastic products. That lasted until fall 2020 when they decided they no longer needed the rail. So through this year that left only 3 customers and all 3 always received Plastic Pellets in their covered hoppers. With the railway closing by Dec 31 I guess they decided they better get prepared for the permanent switch to trucks so their rail traffic is SERIOUSLY slowing down and resonantly one of their major customers Clorox has already had their Spur removed so that leaves just 2 customers left Rochling & Direct Plastics by Broadway & I guess only time will tell if they plan to use the rail streight to the day the contract fully ends or if they’ll also pull out just a couple weeks shy of Dec 31.. So that left
