This event could play in The Green's favor and the story. When Rhaenys joins team Black, the people will remember how little Team Black cares for them, and the people of Kings Landing will side with Team Green because they didn't slaughter hundreds of people to have a girl boss moment...yet.

The female feminist writer saying “wouldn’t it be cool to have the dragon break out through the floor!!” sounds a lot like when Weiss said “we need a god damn polar bear!!” 😂💦

You know what's worse? The scene was supposed to be even more brutal, they deleted scenes of Meleys crushing the smallfolk crowd during the coronation scene, but it was supposed to be much worse, also, saying that the smallfolk don't matter, especially during the Dance, it's foolish, it's the smallfolk that will kill most dragons in the end.

It would've made the most sense to have Rhaenys emerge from below the floor with the intent to kill them all, only for Sunfyre to attack Meleys and force her to flee. Mercilessly crushing the smallfolk makes more sense if she already has murder on her mind, and it would be a good way to introduce Sunfyre (who is debatably the most important dragon in the Dance of the Dragons).

I saw this scene as a perfect opportunity to introduce sunfyre, I mean why wouldn't he be at the coronation? It would also give a better reason for meleys not to burn the greens considering they would have sunfyre there to intervene.

The sword crossing, the tapestry, the bagpipes playing “king’s arrival” from GoT, proud Otto enjoying his life’s work, the veiled & somber Queen kissing the King, the Septons marking his forehead...I was blown away by the details in the coronation. It felt like watching Nicholas II being crowned in an Orthodox ceremony with all the hollow pomp & circumstance of a rotting system. It's what I'd always envisioned from a GoT coronation. TGC was terrific in bringing out Aegon's fear, hesitation, pride & euphoria all at once. He’s got a sadness about him you only see in catholic stained glass windows. The much despised Criston putting the Conqueror's crown on Aegon II's head. The Kingmaker is born! "Reluctance to murder is not a weakness" is the very dilemma at the heart of asoiaf. The aesthetics of Hightower KL, already so soulless, so dark and dreary. Love it! What the show's doing really well is the details, down to splitting the treasury or locking up servants. Usually the passionate debates, the sense of treachery, the heartbreak are glossed over & we only see the regime change as a "fait accompli". This bring to life the mechanism that historically goes behind a coup, which I assume is as emotionally taxing for the people seizing power. That's why I like agonized & conflicted Alicent more than her steadfast source counterpart. It's more flesh & blood. She vacillates but her messianic fear for her children fates her to make a cursed gamble. And then Rhaenys happened....oh well, we can't have everything in life I guess.

There was literally another exit for Rhaenys to take (seen in episode one TWICE) she CHOSE to kill hundreds of innocents so she could make a meaningless statement to the Greens... If they really wanted to give her a moment, have it be as Aegon is doing his victory lap after the coronation on Sunfyre. Have her and Meleys swipe by him or roar at him as a threat and statement as everyone watches... foreshadowing not only Rook's Rest but the Dance of Dragons itself... but no we can't show Aegon's strong bond with his dragon yet (even though his banner is literally the golden dragon Sunfyre).

"It's not her war to start" Well she DID start a war now; Rhaenys aligns herself with the Blacks, so the fact that she directly threatened the lives of the king and his family, and killed huge numbers of nobles and small folk in the process, means that she has already declared war no matter how much copium the writers try to huff. It'll be interesting to see how they handle this in season 2, if at all

This scene is the most unrealistic thing htod did. I hated this part ,the episode should have ended on Aegon taking cheers from crowd.

@2:53 reading the last part of Hess' statement, "...it's the Game of Thrones." As Varys said, it's always the small folk that suffer the most during the high lords' game of thrones. To the high lords the small folk are fodder.

Nine episode is one of the most stupid script and baseless moments

The smallfolk absolutely don't matter in Game of Thrones. Any scene in flea bottom in the books confirms this. Characters like Varys, Cersei, and Littlefinger comment on it all the time. The good kings ignore them, the bad ones actively harm them. The Targerayans were especially known for this. Rheanyra raising taxes to the worse they'd ever been is one of the reasons she gets deposed. When you say in your video that the smallfolk matter because they kill the dragons, that is wrong. They kill the dragons as a consequence of the fact that they don't matter. The Rhyneas scene is fine in itself. My problem is that I doubt the writers will explore its consequences the way GRRM obsessively does. If they make that scene a big part of the reason why the smallfolk turn on The Blacks and explore the ramifications of what she did then I think it's a great scene.

Kinda sick and tired of people complaining about a magical creature wrecking havoc in an enclosed arena with people getting killed in a show where people die all the time.
