I Initially really liked the ESV. Being a late in life student of Biblical Greek, I have gradually stepped back from it, though not entirely. I learned from this video two more reasons for not fully endorsing it. Authorized Version first and foremost.

WEB is definitely a good translation. Public domain, Majority Text, and ASV based. Only problem I have with it is the lack of quality print. I believe that why it’s unknown to the majority.

Interesting video, I use both translations some, though not daily. It's rare to find someone who prefers the TR, glad to see it

I noticed today that evangelist Gabriel Fernandez is reading from the WEB.

Oh man, I saw WEB and I was hoping it was about Noah Webster's Bible translation from 1833. Darn. Great video Pastor!

The ESV is my favorite translation. However I too take issue with how monogenes is translated. There are certain words/wording which should be preserved as it has always been translated. Only begotten has very specific meaning and you miss out on that in the ESV.

I just bought the Lutheran ESV study bible for myself and one for the kids. What do you think Pastor? I was replacing my MacArthur NKJV study bible cause it was ...well...drinking game....every time Sproul or MacArthur say "sovereign" or "elect"...cheers

LOL! Never play drinking games with Calvinist literature. As for ESV study bible, I originally liked it. I've been using it regularly more recently and while its better than most, it still has things that I think are incomplete explanations and even misleading. I just read the notes on Romans 7 last night, and they were lacking. the Luther quote from his Romans lecture wasn't helpful, although there are all sorts of good gems in that section of those lectures, better ones to choose from, IMO.

@@AskThePastor so if I have KJV and ESV study (Concordia) and I get me an NASB and a non Calvinist NKJV...I should be set up? Lol since we had 4 weeks lockdown I have so much increased my Bible knowledge. Too bad I can't become a pastor otherwise I might even study Theology

At least you're using the lockdown for a godly purpose. It sounds like you're all set 😁

What about Antioch texts versus Alexandrian? Textus sinaticus and textus vaticanus all seem to be Jesuit publications with non-stop slippery slope errors and doctrinal changes. Westcott and Hort were doctrinal messes. But honestly most people just don't know. They just like the way that some things sound... the way that some read. I've gone back to the KJV AV 1611. If a person really wants to just as a person can learn another language, it's very usable and does not eliminate chunks of scripture and change verses and texts. I own all of the Bibles you mentioned. And we all have Bible gateway and Bible Hub in our Palm. "Study to show thyself approved."
