In the fall of 2016-some months before the protests-Evergreen's Equity Council unveiled a document which included recommendations on how the college should act to close "equity gaps." I've obtained audio of the then-Director of Institutional Research, who details how the Equity Council willfully misread/misinterpreted data according to their preconceived narratives.

@@ljb8157 or do they seem to commit the Lion's Share of crime, because the black neighborhoods are where the cops are looking for criminals? I don't know, but it's probably a combination. I'm sure there are plenty of people in black neighborhoods who'd like even more cops, especially older people. But if you are a law-abiding young black man, who is subject to stop and frisk every other day, you might get a little... Irritable about the cops.

It's honestly eerie. Places like Evergreen are more fargone than many places, but this religion is growing in ever more fanatical pockets across the civilization, and they seem to be pushing to outdo one another with sheer blind zeal for the cause. This also bears a striking resemblance to the start of "The Great Leap Forward", which also was basically a non-theisistic cult religion that sprang up amongst youth who were told that they were being horribly mistreated, so much so that they were more than perfectly justified in commiting one of the worst atrocities in human history. Not good, but we must continue resisting. Thank you Ben, for all the work you do.

Check out Lindsay, Boghossian and Pluckrose’s talk about Intersectionality as a Religion. Very convincing argument that these people are religious fundamentalists, essentially. It's human nature. There'll always be climbers and insecure attention-seekers eager to hop on the bandwagon. Then throw in the sincere, but misinformed or easily-led segments, and these things take on a life of their own. You can't point to any one person "causing" it all. I imagine it's not far from how the Nazis manipulated good people to help round up Jews. I hate to use that analogy, but there it is. Only in regard to her intonation. When you focus on the raw emotionalism of her speech, which is ostensibly about how a data set informed a committee and resulted in a set of reccomendations... In fact her purpose is to proactively encase the committee and their set of recommendations in an armor of feigned emotional earnestness. This is a work more reminiscent of big time wrestling than a sermon. This woman is toxic in the extreme. She talks endlessly about how the data set impacted her emotionally. Excuse me, but that is pure bullshit. I dare you to divert your gaze... really means I dare you to question my analysis of the data. Doing so will result in you being labeled an obstructionist, and I will do all in my power to destroy you. It is a threat.

@ht w it's the rise of authoritarianism. Any authority figures tend to blot out individual nuances and there is little tolerance for it in these times. The modern Identitarians on the extreme right and left have set up a persecution/virtue dichotomy. A struggle for control of people's souls, they are power hungry and use 'oppression' of their favoured groups to win the compassion vote. I've just been re-listening to J B Peterson's first ever podcast on his website. He describes the good father and the tyrannical devouring father architypes. We are living in a time where the old moral and economic precepts aren't working, they've lost their value. The dismantling civil rights movement of 60 years ago has now set itself up as the voice of authority, judge and jury in a new tyranny of thought. Nevertheless, people are increasingly anti authoritarian. Anti fascism and radical Islam are Identitarian movements pitting oppressed groups against the mainstream hegemony. Far left and far right political views are too. None of them understand they are the extremists and are projecting their inner anxieties onto anyone that dare challenge their rock of belief. Christianity has become the whipping boy of the wretched moral self flaggelaters, the virtue signallers. The behaviour of the Catholic priesthood has justified the turning away from the guidance that conservatism once offered people during times of uncertainty. Out of ignorance and a mistrust of authority during times of uncertainty, the Christian message is being lumped in with all the other causes jostling for control of the marketplace of public opinion. Unfortunately it is seen as the old guard, no longer current or relavent.

The contrast is telling: a former employee telling the truth, clearly passionate about using what the data is telling her to improve the institution that employs her; and a roomful of 'activists' ( as opposed to 'educators' ) who take refuge in perceiving themselves to be victims, under siege from reality. Depressing. p.s. That is nonsense. You can easily screen for an entitlement attitude in your interview process. Given that this contageon is epidemic now, you really need to devise some method of assessing the values and priorities of your prospective hires. If you think that these twisted idiots represent the majority of the student body or the alumni of TESC, then you are not paying attention. If you think that this problem is not epidemic in higher education today, then you have a rude awakening in your future. This problem extends from Brown University to Purdue in Indiana, and everywhere in between. Wake up and smell the sjw coffee before you get burned. Would you refuse to hire Matt Groening? Would you refuse to hire Benjamin Boyce? If so, then you are an ideologue, no better than the screeching fools in this video. Be cautious, be inquisitive, and be wise. Don't be a reactionary. It is hard enough to find good people without screening based on your reactionary response to an administration gone mad. It's petty, self indulgent, and foolish. I assure you that guile is not an attribute that these identitarians posess. It really isn't that hard to distinguish between a cobra and a worker bee. If you can't do that, then you have no business hiring anyone.

Yes, and I'm really curious to know what "outrageous" experiences he's referring to. Somehow it seems more likely that a few genuinely pathologically-hypersensitive students, too emotionally immature to be in college, misinterpreted harmless things as being malicious; and that fit George's pre-packeged agenda. Edit: (in the first clip, I meant)

I feel sorry (but not too much) for those Evergreen academics who are still sane. Their level of employability at this stage must be "poison". Actually, the Board of Trustees did it to TESC. They were appointed by the governor of the state of Washington. The president serves at the pleasure of the board of trustees. And, you will find analogues of these behind the scenes players at dozens of colleges and universities all across the country. The HEC (Higher Education Coordinating) board is a similarly constituted body, appointed by the governor. This is what happens when you appoint Gordon Gecko clones to run universities and to manage funding for universities. They destroy them just the way that they destroy commercial enterprises. These are people without a moral core, who seek only self gain, at any cost.
