If you haven't done your voiceover yet, you might mention that bowhunters do everything they can to avoid hitting meat and that this head is designed for hitting the vitals in a deer or hog, which are much softer. That why I was especially frustrated that it was so hard to get it to go off in gel.

Are u checking the primer? Try shooting a tree? Once they do work you’ll also find that without a barrel there is no power behind the bullet itself on powder. Try making a barrel design so the bullet can gain momentum and power and see what happens 2⭐️

Thanks! I think they had a good idea modeling an arrowhead after spearfishing powerheads, but the performance just isn't there.

If the primer isn't set off by the initial impact it's unlikely that it will go off afterwards. That said, I'd give it a couple minutes before touching it myself.

I'm thinking along the same lines. Bang sticks work really well, but this doesn't match what a bang stick is capable of, unfortunately.

Not a hunter? You see, hitting the kill zone doesn't always work. Had broadheads zip straight through the deer's lungs. Some times the hide will close up and no blood. Other times a simple Broadhead kinda makes a mess. Especially when it's a lung shot and they are still breathing and it sprays every were. Might go less than 10ft or sometimes they get away but still dies. Some people would rather have more of a guarantee on finding their kill. But exploding tips are illegal to hunt with so no worries.

Simply no sense of more damage, the faster they die. Your from the city aren't ya?

Hogs and deer, and not just head shots. I used them exactly as they were marketed, and unfortunately, I'm not impressed. It was a great idea, though. I just wish it worked better.

TWANGnBANG those actually went into production. Good question, where is the gyrojet? Maybe the Geneva Convention deemed them to be too cruel for war.

More likely that the ammunition was too expensive to manufacture. I think there were civilian models, too, but they just didn't sell.

thatotherguy27 thanks for the Wiki post, it was a good read. My old edition of the shooters bible didn't have nearly as much detail back in 1976 when I read about the Gyrojet. It looks like people invested and lost millions due to flaws in the mechanical design and disregard for produceability. I suppose that history repeats itself .. repeatedly.

thatotherguy27 I forget the name of the pistol but there were so many problems that it was a joke. You can still find them from time to time at gun shows but the ammo is nonexistent any more except in museums or private collections as oddities. Back in the late 50's or early 60's I was able to see one of the Rocket Pistols tested. Range was not good, Accuracy was a joke and it was not very well though our or designed at the time. Hammer hit the front of the round driving it back to the firing pin. the hammer fell forward to release the round when it ignited. it it would have had an electrical firing system it might have worked better but I doubt it. Another folly that failed.
