I found that the best poop softener is the kefir (I think the homemade is a bit better than the one of them supermarket) but both work ok. I blocked from my diet: natural rice, green bananas (that are not sweet enough) psyllium husk (plantago) flax seed fiber… I’m still doubtful if I should cut papaya from my diet ( I’ve been eating it with the other ingredients I am trying to avoid) I am getting suspicious it could be helping to my ROCK poop 🙈 my proctologist told me to take a spoon of olive oil each morning so water can stay more time in the colon or something like that. I’ve been drinking more water and orange juice, kiwis and coffee with milk before I eat anything in the morning. Eating big plumps could help but… I think they could be a bit dangerous for someone that is high in glucose.

Yes. I had a hysterectomy in Oct 2020. Prior to that I barely ate fiber. I started having problems with BM. Got religious about getting enough fiber. They recommended 35 mg a day. Usually got to 20-25. My stomach issues are worse than they ever have been. I did have some issues before surgery, but yes so much worse now. The gas yesterday was horrible. I even increased slowly. Psyllium makes it worse. Flax seems to be better but I don’t know. I feel like I’ve been a walking experimenting with diet, etc. so desperate. I am so bloated. I have lost weight, but I look 5 months pregnant. Never knew has pains could be so painful. And the hemms and fissure omg. So bad. So with fiber even if I’m drinking enough water, can it result in incomplete emptying?

You're spot on with the fiber debate. I suffer from stage 2 internal hemorrhoids. My proctologist suggested that I increase my fiber intake. I got it up to 25g of fiber per day and my rear was hurting so bad that I can't sit in a chair now. I noticed that it made me more constipated than before. Then I had a hard beginning and a loose tail. Then I reduced the fiber and had a stool with a sweet potato fiber and it felt like my internal hemorrhoids were getting lacerated after every release. Fiber swelled my hemorrhoids and made it way worse than before.

Thank you doctor. finally a doctor speaking the truth. This guy is absolutely correct. Because of the pain meds I take. I’ve been having constipation for years. Every time I see a doctor, they say take more fiber, and when I tell them, that’s the worst thing I should do. They look at me like I’m an idiot. Finally, I see a doctor telling the truth. I am stunned that I a janitor am actually smarter than most doctors out there. Also, he’s right about bulking up. Sometimes my stool is so large the anus stretches and it comes out, covered in blood. Never fully trust doctors there people and make mistakes like all people do.

I totally experience exactly what you are talking about! I am a mostly plant based eater with a primary focus on eating freshly prepared vegetables and non-refined starches like rice and potatoes. I eat a lot of fiber everyday and I still have issues with my bottom end. I would say that 2 things contribute most to my constipation, gas and bloating. 1- not chewing my food well. 2-eating lots of cruciferous vegetables in any given day.

Thank you for discussing this problem. It's something that affects us daily, but mostly we don't want to talk about it. Honestly, when your GI system is working well, it's a good day, and when it isn't, you're miserable. I do find that just the right amount of fiber is the answer, and it can take a bit to find that place. I found three prunes a day helps, but I need to be careful not to add too much to that, maybe just some fresh vegetables like a salad will to it. Your videos are very helpful.

Taking a fiber supplement won't help you if you eat constipating foods. It's better to eat foods that are high in fiber. I've also found that it's best for the fiber to be wet, such as with oatmeal or fresh fruit, not dry like cereal. If you eat cereal then drink lots of juice or eat jello with it. For snacks during the day I eat granola bars and fruit snacks. Gelatin is a natural laxative.

Finally someone is saying this. I had to learn it the hard way after listening to so many doctors 😭 they don't even ask how is my stool, how often I have it, what is like .... They hear a fissure or hemoroids and they say fiber and water. 🤦🏼 I eat too much fiber just from my diet and my doctors didn't check my diet... They just said add more fiber supplement. It was so bad for me and made me worse 🤕 I think extra fiber is good only for people who don't eat fiber at all or have loose stool. I wish doctors at least gave a referral for a nutritionist or at least say to be careful with fiber or send your video to their patients!

Yes! Hydrating fluids over time is #1. Fiber must be met with plenty of fluid! Fiber without fluid is basically concrete! #2 everyone is different in their response. Pay attention to what works for you! #3 timing! Do not do fiber at bedtime. If you do you may spent weeks or months recovering from the result!

I sometimes take psyllium husks. A heaped dessertspoonful, on a morning, with plenty of water. Works great, but if I keep taking it for more than a week or two, it stops working. So, it's not for constant use - at least not in my case. I do need my fiber, though, but, as you say, you must also consume a good amount of fluid, or it can have the opposite effect of what you want.

I do feel bloated and the complete bowel evacuation takes place on alternate days and not daily. I can’t even have a proper dinner after so much fibre; and I find it difficult to take so much fibre and water after dinner. Moreover, I have to get up at least thrice during the night to evacuate my bladder. What should I do? I soulful be really obliged to you if you could advice me about what to do. Should I follow blindly my doctor’s advice or I have to decide how much fibre I’ve to take.

I think "artificial " fiber,(not attached to the fruit or seed or vegetable) and not chewing well the food, all affect the transit in the gi tract. Once I added psyllium husk to my already high fiber whole food plant based diet and I started getting hemorroids. I blame the Metamucil for my hemorrhoids to this day.

Most people do not get gas bloating or cramps when taking fiber at normal dosages. In my opinion its better to take fiber than synthetic stool softners that cause electrolyte imbalance constipation and other colonic problems which are not meant for long term use. Fiber can be taken long term without problems.

Very true, I agree with you are bodies are designed to take in fiber, I think the reason why half these people on here get constipated is because they've been on the standard American diet almost all of there lives. And when switching up there diet after 20 years of eating crap. The body goes nuts and doesn't know what to do.. it's like taking a street drug then going cold turkey the body will goes nuts for it.

Have had fissures for 6 months now after giving birth and am basically vegetarian whole foods plant based all my life, used to poop once a day but bc I added more plant food or wheat bran would go 3-4 times a day but bc the doctors hears fissures and hemorrhoids they tell me to eat more fiber. The fiber has made my anus stretch so much, it has made it worse and doctors who don’t ask about my first and how many times I go are bad too

I take one teaspoon of each in the morning : Benefiber, Metamucil, Miralax with 16 ounces of water. Drink plenty of liquids throughout the day. As he mentioned . . . Take small doses. I don’t follow the recommended dose on the container. I taylor the dosage that best fits my needs. The key is don’t over due it. And drink plenty of water. Wait and see what happens. Adjust as needed until you find the right dosage for you!

Oh god yes the hard/large stool followed by soft end with remnants difficult to pass (and sometimes clean - horrible). I think I overdosed on fiber 7g psyllium 3x day stacked on top of food sources. Hell. The psyllium I was already taking but added more after MD's prescription. I was also taking at night right before bed. I really want to provide this feedback as I went through hell. Now I'm trying to moderate... Obviously all white flour and sugar and meat and cheese doesn't work also!

Here in europe when doctors are talking about "eat fiber", they are relating to "eat more vegetables" and "have a fiber rich diet". Is this still the same for you Dr. Chung? Fiber suppliments is not common here as far as i know. And eating more vegetables makes stool always kind of "perfect". All the best and thank you very much for your videos.

I started fiber few days ago and and my stool was super soft. The first few days was perfect. Stool was super soft and and going was so easy. I decided to add a little more. Which was a big mistake. I had the “comet” poop, hard in the beginning and soft at the end. Which opened up my fissure again. Thank you for all the information doctor. I was so confused why I was back to square one. Now I know. Thank you so much for all you do.

what are you eating now? Are you cured?
@sharkfinn8091
@sharkfinn8091 2 жыл бұрын
@@kavitasankar9252 It comes down to keeping your stools soft. I stayed on stool softeners for two weeks straight. Be careful with this stuff, it can cause an imbalance in your electrolytes. I eat lots of vegetables and drink plenty of water. Small salads with every meal and boiled broccoli for snacks etc. I still eat everything I love but always eat a small salad in between. I use Diltiazem at night for about 2 weeks to help relax anal muscles for the next morning poop. I wouldn’t say I’m fully healed but my stools are now soft and fissure doesn’t hurt or bleed. I’m going on 3 weeks without an incident. I hope this helps.

@@banderas2000 I stop taking fiber supplements and eating high fiber foods. I think I found out why I’ve been having digestive issues. My stomach does not make enough acid to break down the food properly. I started taking apple cider vinegar every night before bed. It helps with my digestive issues and put back good gut bacteria to help break down foods. My stool are soft and smooth now without taking fiber supplements. I’m suffering from a chronic fissure. It heals at times but is unable to fully heal due to the damaged tissue. It’s something I’ve learn to live with now at my age. I refuse to have surgery. I feel at my age, it’ll make things worse.

I keep getting comet poops. With very long tails. I had used to experiment with fiber before it started, because of semi-hard greasy poops that were almost impossible to pass. Wheat fiber made my stools WIDE. Rye fiber - mixed results, usually softer, but it had these sharp texture... And finally ground flaxseed - the best results, but after some time, it got worse, so I dropped it. Now, I get comet poops even though my fiber intake isn't high, only from dinner vegies. I don't even eat rye bread I loved so much, because of that sharp texture it was giving me. So I eat the wheat one. I don't think gluten is the cause, as I have never had any issues with it, and days I don't eat it, it doesn't get better. The only thing that slightly helped me was string beans, especially in a soup. But can't eat it everyday. Honestly, it's so complicated, I'm not sure what to eat anymore. Not easy to test what food is good/bad if I poo every 3 days. Big amount of soft poo after the initial (semi) hard beginning. And what's funny, sometimes I get a round two 8-10h later after I sleep. Then I'm done for another 3 days. I don't feel the urge to poo everyday like I used to. Sometimes, I feel maybe it's time, but... it's not. And next day I don't feel anything, like it moved back or something lol. Then after 3 days, I get this big urge that I need to rush to get rid of this big load. Maybe lack of exercise is the cause, used to be very active pre covid era. But now, it's not that easy to motivate myself with hem flareups :( Got pretty painful one lately, not even sure why, as the last poo was pretty soft, and it didn't take long. So like, fiber bad, fighting for good soft stools - bad anyway as I got the flareup, ugh it's so annoying.

Could you do a video on what to eat with Hemorrhoids? Just like you said eating everything fiber isn't smart, I want to eat meats bit everything you read said to avoid meats. I've lost 15lbs being picky with what I eat since starting to get Hemorrhoids 3 months ago. Also have a external one that is thrombosed at the top right area if bottom end, won't go away not matter what I do, about the size of my finger tip. It goes away throughout the day but every BM it flares back out. Love your videos man.

I've had constipation all my life, off and on, since age 4. My mother used to have to give me Fletcher's Castoria (anyone remember that?) As I'm older, it's worse. My doctor prescribed Linzess. It helps but it's not always best. I don't know if I should drink more with it. I don't know how it works, and I really don't want to, but it sometimes needs help from Dulcolax. I'm wondering if this is harmful? All I can say is that it's a relief to NOT have pain down there from straining, and various other things over the years to help out. I used to take milk of magnesia and finally got to the point I could hardly get it down. I have had hemorrhoid problems off and on since I was a teen. I had a colonoscopy last May and the doctor said everything was fine. The time before he sad I had small hemorrhoids near the outer part. I wanted to say tell me something I don't know... I like your channel. Just found it today.
