I started doing a low residue diet after seeing this video and it has helpt me with my Tenesmus(Tenesmus is a constant feeling that you have to go to the bathroom, but you can’t. Even if you’ve just emptied your bowels. Severe inflammation that irritates the nerves involved in pooping is often the cause. Your nerves overreact, telling your muscles that you constantly have to go. To the point of. Spasms, severe pain and inflammation). I love you're approch Doctor Chung. I am still eliminating foods it will take a while to regonize and keeping a food dairy helps a lot. Write down what you eat during the day and write it down the next day. Really quite easy to do.

I am so glad I found your videos. I am 62 and have had irritable bowl with constipation most of my adult life. My GI doctor passed and I had to go to a new doctor. The old doctor realized that higher fiber didn’t help my constipation but made it worse and I felt like I would explode. But what was the first thing the new doc said. You need to add a fiber supplement. Ugh

I was in the same situation, same advice from doctors, I have IBS also, I quickly realized that I was on my own so I logged all my food and drink intake and BM for 2 years before I realized patterns and realized what foods I could eat and what to avoid. For me 3 g of fiber per meal works best and avoiding all the bowel trigger foods. I still have some bad days but am much better off after logging all that info. Hope things are better for you now……

So good to hear a Dr saying eat less fiber... In the beginning of my fissure journey 5 months ago I tried eating loads of fiber because that's what all the Drs told me to do. I kept thinking it makes no sense... After hurting myself even more because of these recommendations I tried to just listen to my body.... I eat less fiber and try to eat smaller portions and more balanced meals with fat, carbohydrates and protein.... I'm starting to feel better... I'm not healed but I'm better than before that's for sure.

How is everything going with your fissure? I experience the some problem for over a year now, but my Dr sais my fissure is starting to heal. I started to drink alot of bone broth and I think this helped alot. Also I'm trying to eat more animal fats, because I was plant based the last couple of years and I think this is what caused the fissure, as I have never had problem with constipation. I think it was all the raw vegetables and smoothies. Hope this helps😊 Also my Dr recommended alot of fruits and vegetables but I did the exact opposite, as I was eating mostly that and I somehow got the fissure. So, I don't think fiber is the answer

Calcium &, popcorn always constipates me. Bojangles 98% of the time helps. I know you talk about Miralax but for me it takes over a day to work and then it doesn't work that good. I've had issues with constipation all of my life (I'm 69) Finally someone is talking about this problem. I worked for a gastro dr. for 26 years. When this proplem is really bad, I'll use the Miralax prep for colonscopy patients.

Right I cannot take a calcium supplement. I would also say miralax takes over a day to work if I’m really constipated. But finding the sweet spot amount for your body as he discusses I one of his videos seems to be the key.

Regarding water intake, I drink a lot of water, as I dehydrate easily. But I have noticed that even though I hydrate very well, it does not seem to help with hard stool; instead, I simply pee a lot more. What seems to help is eating more vegetables, as I think that the water that is present in them SLOWLY disperses in my colon and helps (I trust the fiber helps too). When I eat water-packed vegetables, my system works better.

The reason why constipation is harder poop is because the poop sits in your colon longer and the inevitable water stealing happens. People think the poop is hard so it doesn't pass. It's actually the opposite. It gets hard because it's in the colon too long and loses too much water and then it doesn't pass easy. Ugh.

I recommend eating water & fibre rich foods a lot. Sometimes I eat several sticks of celery for breakfast with a tablespoon of cheese-spread sprinkled with herbs or spices to dip them in. If you want something sweet you could try watermelon. I realise a lot of fibre is not right for everyone but take it easy with the low-residue diet unless you have things that clearly point to that being the right direction for you. I had to do a low residue diet for another reason & it resulted in my insides being clogged up with a heavy clay-like substance.

Just as i thank you for your videos i am giving here my solution found for my self. I am a computer man (alll day seeting) and with many coffes and sleep late in morning. (having one hemorroidectomy on past but i need onother one after 5 years that now again i am putting them back every day) So...here is the recipe for me. 1 litre(plus) boilling water with 1 (only) 'ball' from a fidelini pasta (very thin pasta) and 2 cubes of knorr (giving taste and salts i put NO salt on my self) for 5 minutes boilling.....and thats it. I am eating-drinking this on 2 doses ..lets say 7 afternoon and 8 afternoon. And late the night i can also eat whatever i want. The next morning i will most likelly have easy and soft poops Especially if when i wake and while drinking my first coffe NOT SEAT ON MY COMPUTER meaning stay OFF the chair for the 1 hour of my new day! I hope that helps some if not all. Great videos and be well. PS..i dont know if that works because the salt by the knorr cubes dont allow to absorb the water from small intensitine sending the hole water to the big intensitine...but...it works...

I've had problems since about forth grade I'm 55 now, I had a pre rectal abscess the size of a golf ball. The doc asked if he could bring people in to watch, I was bent over holding handle bars with 30 interns, he cut the ball went inside scraped out drained, and gave me 4 stitches that was the most pain in my entire life. I take a shot of 2 tablespoons Apple cider vinegar diluted in water in the morning when nothing else has worked and it usually stimulates movement. It’s funny because I started this with some generic store brand ACV and then I took some advice from health coaches and bought a name brand with “the mother”. I started using that and it wasn’t working like it had been. I just thought maybe the ACV. Working before was a fluke and that it was not as consistent as I thought but then I remembered how well the generic one had worked before so I started trying that one again and what do you know? Works like a charm 🤔 my problem isn’t necessarily the stuck “hard” type it’s more of a motility thing

Thank you very much, Doctor Chung. I am currently using Nifedipine ointment (combined with Lidocaine). (It is called Antrolin.) It does help me, but once I stop using it, my condition quickly deteriorates. Would you recommend to use Pranicura along with Antrolin, or should I finish a course of Antrolin and only then start your Pranicura challenge? Also, how many times should one use Pranicura daily? Is it safe to use it several times a day if there are multiple bowel movements?

Coffee can be helpful. But a banana. That's major constipation. If your using bottled water, try changing it.. it may make a difference. Cocoa..chocolate is constipating.big time..

Very interesting to know about the water retention causing the constipation. Being pregnant, I was told lots of liquids for hydration and lots of vegetables, but because I have to take extra iron supplements (and those constipate), I was also given stool softener (which hasn't done much, really), instillagel for the area and codeine for the pain🤦 and I'm like WTF!!! A video on pregnancy hemorrhoids would really help... immensely, actually!

Iron really can cause constipation. Always take it with vitamin c. Also look to different iron sources as some vitamins are easier on the body than some. Also exercise to move the bowel And massage it but being heavily pregnant can make this so difficult

I totally agree with you about fibre I can't deal with psyllium husk at all! I swell up like a balloon with diverticulitis and with the greatest of respect I have to tell you it took you 9 minutes before you said anything answering the question..... just saying..... you seem like a nice person and I agree with you on the fibre but I really wish you hadn't taken so long to say it

I don’t know too many people who are constipated, who eat mashed lentils, or mashed or well cooked beans. Maybe some cooked leafy greens and oatmeal? Peas and green beans, perhap s

When I was on pain meds after a hip replacement I couldn't go for 4 days. (Normal for me is every day). The nurse recommended equal parts of prune juice, apple juice and orange juice. I warmed it and drank it with 2 Dulcolax. Worked like a charm!
