I grew up with The Sound of Silence, so I know every word, every note. I remember the day this Disturbed version was released. I found it so totally amazing, just such perfection, that I listened to it over and over and over. I probably spent 90 minutes just drinking it in. His singing on this is really perfection. I’m glad you enjoyed it.

This is an amazing cover of this song. Paul Simon even added this version to his play list. The live version is a must hear.

OMG, what a rich catalog Disturbed has! They are typically metal, but have other songs that are more on this end of the spectrum you would probably enjoy. David Draiman's voice is one of the most spectacular out there right now! Perhaps try, "A Reason To Fight" (I like the official music video) or "Hold Onto Memories" or "The Light," (again, I like the video). There is actually an EPIC duet on their album that dropped in November between David and Ann Wilson, from Heart. Depends on which way you want to go. Many people who don't like metal music in general like some of the harder music from Disturbed, because they are so melodic. Their musicianship is undeniable. :)

I love the reactions of people who dont know Dave's normal music. And the ramp up. And when he hits that last verse and goes FULL DISTURBED.

Before Disturbed released this song they played it for Paul Simon to see if he approved of their version and he loved it

I love this. Normally I am not a Disturbed fan, and I'm not a fan of most remakes, but this is an exception. They did a beautiful job on this. Although the original will always be my favorite.

One of the spring-board songs that propelled Simon and Garfunkel to the top tear of the 60’s folk scene. Their original version tended more to a Lonely, sad, reflective sound rather then the anger displayed by Disturbed. If this were my introduction to the song, I would be blown away, and it would be among my favorites, however the tone and the harmonies of the original keep it at the top of my list.

Before I became a fan of KPOP I was super into metal and rock and things of that type and Disturbed was always a favorite. David, the singer, studied at Juliard, I believe he studied classical music, before he formed Disturbed which is why he was such strong vocals.

I loved your reaction to this cover, so much symbolism in this cover, I am a child of the 60's when Simon & Garfunkel released the original in 1964 I was in high school, back then I considered it kind of country-ish, I liked it but the message didn't pierce the soul. This cover by Disturbed along with the video is the BEST it touches your soul and really gets S&G message to the core of my being and many others too, goosebumps and tears every time. "Neon God" in the 60's TV the advancement of technology NOW there is so many more especially cell phones. "Neon light that split the night", I remember when neon light would turn on there would be a crackling sound thus touched the sound of silence. Suggestion = The official video by Disturbed “Hold On To Memories” was released Jan 23rd 2020. “Hold on to Memories" is about not only honoring those we’ve lost, but also making the most of our time with those we still have.

This is just my take on what the song is about: Music used to be a way for people to connect, share ideas, evoke emotions, and move people. Over time, we silenced the music by stifling creativity and became more obsessed with our "Neon gods". The music, the passion for it, isn't gone...we just need to start looking in the places they've had to hide to keep creating. (subway walls/tenement halls) The music can be brought back to the people, but we gotta want to bring it back for it to happen fully.

This song is originally from Simon and Garfunkel in the 1960s. It’s a great song, but in my opinion Disturbed owns it with this version. It’s simply phenomenal. Dave’s voice is one for the ages!

Disturbed has done three remakes by 70s and 80s bands. This is Simon and Garfunkel’s original, they did Shout(Tears For Fears), and Land Of Confusion(Genesis). They’re a heavy group and this song isn’t truly a representation of the music they do. Anything from Down With The Sickness album and 10000 Fists. You need to check out their heavier stuff.

David Draiman has an amazing voice and awesome control in whatever he sings. Most of us metal fans can say that whatever he sings is awesome. You have most definitely heard Disturbed’s music from sports, especially “Down with the sickness”. I saw them once and it was of course awesome, lol, but I will warn you that this is about as soft as it gets.

This is one of the all-time great remakes of an all-time classic song. But, keep in mind that this performance is very different than most of Disturbed's material which is much more metal oriented. Lead singer David Draiman is a classically trained vocalist so he's capable of singing pretty much whatever he wants. If you want to react do a more typical Disturbed song, check out Stupefy. That's a really good one.

David Draiman...amazing range and control...a powerful yet soulful voice that can go from warm baritone to angelic tenor, from clear as a crystal to rasp/distortion/vocal fry and back on a dime, which is incredibly difficult to do . He is so unique as he actually puts vibrato on his distortion!....also VERY difficult to do...one of the best male vocalists on the planet imho. Liked your reaction AB.

Yes, "Sound of Silence" is the best lullaby and i put in on my "time to sleep" playlist. Eventhough i'm not a metal band fans, but Disturbed is elevated the taste of this song that me as the 90's generation can enjoyed it. The original song was released in 1960's (idk the exact year), and my father always play this song everyday (my father was born in 1945 🤭🙈) so his playlist is full of "Oldies" genre 🤭🙈

Very many incredible songs to hear from Disturbed. Sound of Silence is among my songs to be played at my memorial. The others are Hallelujah by Pentatonix, Over the Rainbow by Iz Kamakawiwo'ole, Hurt by Johnny Cash, Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd, and I'll Get By from Avi Kaplin. All have meaning for me, and I feel, are some of the best music that has touched my soul.
