This was the first Smiths song I ever heard (way back in 1983) and it led to a love of the band that has pretty much lasted until today.

The best English band of the 80s (with The Cure right behind them). I would consider The Police and The Clash but they recorded half of their best stuff in the 70s.

Saw The Smiths live in 85 when i was 21, Since then they have been my favourite band. Seen Morrisey also after the band split, Again he was awesome, Its one band id lve to see reform but sadly it'll never happen, Every sont The Smiths done are classics and dserved to be reacted to, Just bear in mind They are a very "British Band"

@@kevcall I have seeThe Symths many times and never disappointed, They are the closest to the real thing as you can get. A brilliant tribute band that always sells out where ever they play.

@@kevcallYeah, agree, saw them a couple of years ago, they were great. I saw the Smiths three times in my younger years and The Smyth's are the closest I've heard 👍

Great reaction, thanks... just so you know, "a jumped-up pantry boy who never knew his place" is a line from the film "Sleuth" - Morrissey's early lyrics had lots of steals from his favourite films, books and songs... other Smiths songs you might want to check out include There Is A Light That Never Goes Out, How Soon Is Now and Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before, but they're all good... Morrissey solo is very underrated - try Every Day Is Like Sunday, Last Of The Famous International Playboys, Hairdresser On Fire or November Spawned A Monster to start with...

And that's not all - the "pantry boy"/"return the ring" bit is also referencing the once-popular/now-forgotten historical crime novel Loving by Henry Green.

This is a good one: Rubber Ring/Asleep. They were b-sides on "boys with the thorn in his side". You are not going to find a pair of songs from The Smiths that really exemplifies them at their creative peak. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gc12oKyV2Lqponk.html

Hmm maybe I should edit my 1st comment so you get to these next rquests sooner.. lol... Last reaction Video I saw was an AMerican reating to a live prefomance.... his response was "... better than 44th of July..." Can you imagine what he meant... Ever here of a German Band called Rammstein... Ever see their live Performance in Paaris back in late 90's.... Watch that 1st and than watch a music Video, called Deutschland... then any music vid from their last 3 vidz... make sure you have your setting changed to autotranslate to english.... Watch out for the cideo Zeit! ( Maybe have your Gurly friends react to that one... give em a box of tissues 1st...
