Lord of the Rings The Two Towers Movie Description:
The sequel to the Golden Globe-nominated and AFI Award-winning "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring," "The Two Towers" follows the continuing quest of Frodo (Elijah Wood) and the Fellowship to destroy the One Ring. Frodo and Sam (Sean Astin) discover they are being followed by the mysterious Gollum. Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), the Elf archer Legolas and Gimli the Dwarf encounter the besieged Rohan kingdom, whose once great King Theoden has fallen under Saruman's deadly spell.

The huge creatures working the gate were trolls, similar to the ones they fought in Moria.

The horse is Brego. He belonged to Theodred, the son of the king of Rohan, who was killed while the king was still under Saruman's influence. It is the one that Aragorn told Eowyn, etc. to set free because the horse had seen too much of war.

4:47 Saruman didn't need Gríma to tell him that Théoden would flee to Helm's Deep. One look at Edoras would tell you it's not meant to survive an assault like the one Théoden knows Saruman is about to send on him, its one wall is just a ring of sharpened sticks. Helm's Deep is their best chance at survival, and it's not even that hard to figure out. Saruman has been in Middle Earth for like two thousand years, there's a good chance he watched Edoras being built, he has to know this too. He doesn't even need insights into how Théoden thinks, given how he's spent a fair amount of time in his head. At the moment, he's just letting Gríma feel important. I always thought Gríma was crying there because he was thinking "all I wanted was to smash Éowyn and I fucked everything up"

I've always assumed the monsters opening the gates were cave trolls, like the one that stabbed Frodo in Moria.

Aragorn's fall off the cliff is not in the book. They put it in the movie as a way to fill in some more backstory of him and Arwen. In the books, the Wargs are often referred to as wolves. I don't know why they made them look like hyenas instead.

"Is he dead" - first rule of Peter Jackson movies... doesn't matter how far you fall off a cliff you just bounce.

Sarumon was actually controlling Theodon's mind, not his body through the orb (forgot what it's called). I really need to read the books. Edit: Just remembered the orb/crystal ball is called a palandir.

Good thing poor Gimli is hardy. 2 dead wargs and a dead orc on top of him has got to be heavy....lol.
