I apologize for the angle as I used my iPhone to record. But this is a tutorial on how to fix a wobbly office or gaming chair.
The cylinder I used is the following : Rolland Office Chair Gas Lift Cylinder - Universal Size Fit All - Heavy Duty - Black www.amazon.com/dp/B00GEXJH4W/...

YOOOOO! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!! Not only did it just fix the wobbliness in my chair, but it also fixed where my chair kept going down. Before, I had to use hose clamps as a possible solution, but that didn't work out and I thought "Man, I don't know how to fix this 💩", but this method definitely fixed two problems for the price of one! Thanks again! 👍

for further reference, you dont have to remove the bracket attached to the chair itself. what you do is lay the chair down and take a large pipe wrench, place it on the extended part of the hydraulic at the top and turn it. the cylinder will unseat and you can literally unscrew it out. you just need to have at least an 18 inch pipe wrench for leverage. good video though cuz my chair is wobbling also so i guess im gonna need to buy a new cylinder

I got a Howell gaming chair and when I lean to the side of back it pops and wobbles do I need to replace the gas lift

My chair looks similar, only mine is red and is made by Pro Gamer. I'm curious, my chair wabbles, but its also slanted to the right. So when i sit down, I feel lopssided (the right side is lower to the ground than the left side). This makes it extremely uncomfortable. Will replacing the Cylinder help this issue too??

It didn't impact anything for me since I still have the ability to adjust the height to my liking

That did help! Totally forgot about replacing that. Thanks man. I'm going to get that replacement through the company I bought my chair from though. Might be more expensive, but using their brand might last longer. Really not sure if it will, but in my opinion it might.

sigh... I did this 6 months ago with my brand new gaming chair, and unfortunately the new one got just as bad, I have no idea why this keeps happening.

"brand new gaming chair" there's your possible answer. Depending on the gaming chair brand, it might not be very well made. I have a La-Z-Boy chair I got from staples and the seat wobbles, as if the seat isn't properly down all the way. But I have no clue how to get a new cylinder if that is the problem. I'd need a new chair anyway because the material that is on the back of the seat and on the seat itself, has decided to tear off into pieces.eeeeee

@@movie0007 thanks for the reply but i wasn't really insinuating because it was new it couldn't have faults, I bought it from amazon and it was a mass produced Chinese knockoff, so the first cylinder going bad wasn't surprising, what bothered me was that I bought a new cylinder locally and had the same issue at the time of the post, but luckily the vendor sent me a new one no charge, this one is a bit longer and isn't set on max height which was his advice for the future

@@dutchglorius Ohhhh really? Mine is always on max height, and I constantly lean back in the chair, while I curl up in the chair while it's leaned back and fall asleep in the chair. So I'm wondering if max height did something, constantly leaning back, or both? Oh I didn't think you were insinuating, I just happened to read that part and thought, even I've had brand new products that have turned to junk within a few weeks. I even bought a new automatic card shuffler, the one side didn't even work. Opened it up, solder spot was broken, loose wire, resoldered, it worked like a charm.

@@movie0007 from what i heard of the guy who sold me the cylinder it's best not to use the at max height, and i know stuff sometimes can have janky parts, had to re weld the plate of me sister in laws gaming chair after some kids got rowdy on it, as a welder the original welds where terrible to see

I ordered my KaiMeng Office chair about 2 months ago and it has a wobble. Should I buy my own replacement cylinder or ask the seller for the warranty?

Steven Penarrieta being that most manufacturers offer a 1 year warranty I would reach out to the manufacturer for a replacement before spending your own money.

bro i have the same chair from amazon and it broke lmaoo, unfortunately the cylinder is unavailable on amazon :( had to order the "Homend Black Office Chair Gas Lift Cylinder Replacement Universal Size Heavy Duty Gas Cylinder for Chairs" instead

King Solrac set on a table and use an extension like on 3:54 and hit it with a hammer.

how will you know if you have the right cylinder for your chair?

For most chairs the universal cylinder should work but you can always take measurements if in doubt

Are the wheels falling off? If so buy some of the plumbing white tape and wrap some around the insert pins to create a tighter fit

If you put it together check to make sure everything is tight. Otherwise if it’s brand new I would contact the manufacturer to send a replacement. It could also be wheel canister( the base that has all the wheels) it’s possible that the hole where the cylinder goes into is out of spec thus allowing for the extra space

Just remember that it'll be good for your back, by making sure you're actually sitting straight. As this could prevent back problems
