The legislation has already drawn protest from Democratic politicians, education associations, free speech groups and LGBTQ advocates, who say the bills will restrict educators’ ability to instruct children honestly and harm transgender and nonbinary students. #shorts #florida

The vast majority of parents just don't want sex acts pushed on their kids. The difficulty is in separating sexually based political movements from actual sexual acts. The parents have been overzealous in pushing sex out of schools but their reasons are very valid. Honestly the pride movement needs to stop defending the more perverse displays; sexual acts and images should not be displayed in public. Nuanced questions about sexual symbolism and appropriate teaching methods are really what everyone should be talking about. Can a movement based on sexual liberation separate itself from sex or will we always be pushing it on kids? Pride needs to set it's own house in order or it will fail.

I don't think parents get to dictate what parts of the world their children are taught about when it doesnt harm them. Its just letting them know this stuff exist. Its like thinking that teaching them about the USSR is bad and parents should be allowed to restrict their children leanring about it. Its ridiculous, your setting your kid up to have less knowledge about things. @jarrodbakken5783 Жыл бұрын
@@christopherparks2987 I must agree, psychology is a very interesting field, but gender studies is not something that a child should be exposed to, and they certainly shouldn’t have enough exposure to desire to be in that major. Just the same as an elementary school child shouldn’t have enough exposure/knowledge of the narcotics division of a police department to know that they want to be a narcotics officer when they grow up. Childhood is about being a child, not about learning that some people like to be called a woman even though they are a man or vice versa, the topic is not the issue, rather the audience that the topic is targeted towards.

@@jarrodbakken5783 yeah cuz no children have aspirations for when they grow up. Choose your next asinine words carefully. I’ve worked in daycare for nearly 20 years now. Don’t try to bullshit me about how children behave. Not common, but I had one who knew more about dinosaurs than most adults when he was 4. I’m not being hyperbolic. Like a savant almost. Knew he wanted to be a paleontologist. Might not ever become one but that aspiration exists and his personality certainly seems like it’d fit. Anyway, you also should probably acknowledge that nobody is actually proposing teaching psychology to children. We’re just saying that we should be honest with them about gender rather than the Republican strategy of pretending it doesn’t exist.

@@christopherparks2987 children can have aspirations, right? That’s cool! But imagine if you were to meet an elementary school child who aspired to be a stripper, or a drug dealer, or a hitman. It’s not that it’s wrong to have aspirations, it’s that it’s wrong for children to be knowledgeable on such insane adult topics. Gender is a pretty straight forward topic, if you have a penis you are a man, women have vaginas. That simple, scientifically proven fact was taught in all schools, until people decided science was wrong. Children are little plants, they absorb what is tossed at them and sometimes they fixate on what is tossed at them. A small child can aspire to be a gender studies major, but that is because of his environment, and that’s not okay. Just the same as a child can aspire to be a drug dealer or the hottest person in town, all due to their environment, and that’s not okay

If you’re genuinely asking, I can provide a few examples. Having an educated grasp on gender issues, as well as gender/sex in relation to science, can open up a lot of jobs which require a knowledgeable background in these subjects. Being a teacher/instructor, HR consultant, journalist, doctor (often specializing in sexual health), sexologist, or health educator, among many others, are common jobs for people with educational experience in gender studies. On average, gender studies majors tend to make around $80,000 a year. If you plan on working in any of these fields, chances are a significant amount of your competitors are going to have experience in these fields. You don’t have to study it yourself, but it helps to be knowledgeable of that in the corporate world. Hope this helps.

@Magica__ I'm not struggling with anything. I comprehend what a useless branch of "academia" gender studies is, and what an unfruitful career life it will create for people who pursue those fields. It is a nothing-burger in terms of educational value. It is equivalent in value to studying phylogeny under the pretense of racial superiority, it's opinionated garbage of zero substance to reality.

@@RaccoonRecluse Psychology provides much better explanations than sociology ever could...speaking from the perspective of a person who majored in sociology in undergrad. The law is not concerned with power dynamics in race relations, nor does it concern itself with intersectionality. Legislators may reason along those lines when they write a bill, but the practice of law is about applying the law as it is written to the facts of each case. I am at an HBCU studying law, so if there was even a snowball's chance in hell of CRT being relevant to the law, I would be learning about it.
