My grandpa had that ashtray in one of the cupholders of his giant Cadillac that was so big there were embroidered throw pillows on the back bench seat (yes, like a couch). Next to the ashtray, in the other cupholder was a (full to the rim) whiskey and water in a regular on the rocks glass that just sloshed back and forth but somehow never spilled. I rode in the front seat. I didn't know how to operate a seat belt. I'm almost positive I had made the drink for him. I was nine. It was the 80's. You make me laugh and I love your random movie quotes. Keep it up!
@trixietricycle
@trixietricycle 3 жыл бұрын
Oh. My. God. Kelli. LOLOLOLOL - this could be a movie script. The magic of the Cadillac is that it is literally like driving a sofa. That gentle auto body roll around corners would have facilitated the non-spill like a dream. So damn funny. Seat belts? Nahhhh.

Thank you so much for your kind words! You've got some gorgeous charts again. That ending is so recognisable - I've managed to sit in front of the camera running the battery dead without even doing much once... argh. I’m not sure we had that kind of ashtray here in the UK but we did have ones that were floorstanding, kind of like little ceremonial urns. I think they were a sign of affluence perhaps. Those beanbag ones sure were something else. I imagine not overly stable on a car dash board. Yikes! Your retrospective made me laugh because it was exactly how I spent my Friday. Practicing all the different ways of saying”Hi Flosstube” without sounding scary or demented or indeed from another geographical location . At times I had an accent that was most definitely not my native Northern Irish! Things got better when I actually started to talk about my stitching but getting that first video intro together was tricky. I wish you continued success with your channel. I would like my channel to bee watched by more than just my family too.

The bee will stay in the hive at midnight. I have a scary story about the magnifying glass. My elderly mother lived with us and one day I got home from work and smelt burning. I tracked it to her room where she was dozing in the sunshine with her magnifier zeroing a ray just over her shoulder into the top of her comfy chair. Just like some James Bond film. Luckily it was fire retardant foam so just smoke and thank goodness I didn't work late !! She made a little bag that she slipped over the glass after that. Love your videos.

Hi Jodie, you could use the xstitch app to log your charts. It’s really easy to use, the only problem is you have to check it to see if you already have the chart, which I have failed to do a couple of times due to eagerness to get one that I see on flosstube. Love your channel.

I. freaking. love. this. episode. I have loved a chart so much, I bought it 3 times. 3 dang times. I love the idea of minimalism. I am a fan of Japanese architecture, and their clean lines... but I also love having all my excess crap. So maybe nice furniture to hide the excess? LOL.

Your Dad's comic are priceless! The "action shot" was amazing. Maybe you can get them bound into a book to preserve them. I don't recall if you shared - how do you stitch - in hand with the sewing method? You get so much done and your work is beautiful. Bee, Midnight, Jane - Thank you so much.

I have considered ways to preserve those (I would guess they are about 45 years old) but am loathe to let them out of my possession for any period of time. I have tried to stitch in hand, and I haven't been successful. I'll keep trying, but for now I usually use a scroll frame when I'm home and a hoop or small QSnap if I'm out and about. Thanks for watching and commenting Susan!

Thank you for letting me know how to pronounce “grotty!” I don’t think I have heard this word since the ‘70s, and we always pronounced it with a long “O.” I had to look it up to make sure of the pronunciation. I love your description of the water at Puget Sound as “liquidy.“😂 I forgot you were the one that enabled me to go and buy strawberry fields forever, and Yellow Submarine, and while I was at it a bunch of re-released Blackbird Patterns! So thanks for that! I think we often but the same chart multiple times! Using the X app, has reduced my double purchases. Congrats on your new beanbag ash tray. When will you be buying the El Dorado Cadillac to go with it? I would be glad to stitch Jane, Bee, midnight.
@trixietricycle
@trixietricycle 3 жыл бұрын
I think I was going for 'liquid velvet' or something - which to be fair wouldn't have been any better LOL. I think there are two different words, and I used to say 'grody' (rhymes with Jody - yeah that was fun in 2nd grade) and then there's 'grotty' (rhymes with naughty). Speaking of pronunciation, my apologies for not saying your name right. GAH. Next time I will get it right.
