It has its audience. Its not a movie for your grandma but for kids 11-25 its pure comedic gold. Even now Im 34 and its still one of my favorite all time comedies. Its certainly better than alot of comedies being produced.

Why do I laugh uncontrollably the more I see these ridiculous movie scenes? Then you say "after a few takes someone yelled cut, and asked if the gate was good, and no one said what does it mater it's the dumbest thing I've ever filmed"; When you said that I just started laughing more.

It is hysterical that these serious film "aficionado's" don't get the movie. Bad reviews only make it that much better.

This movie is master piece. I watched it again. Never a dull moment. It’s 1 great Tom Green skit after another. So underrated. This idiacracy and zohan are a gem. If I had only 3 comedy movies to watch I would pick them.

Absolutely love this movie, 2001 was a shock and awe kinda period and the horse scene was a part of that. Rip Torn is absolutely hilarious. Anthony MH was great and Tom Green was Tom Green and he didn't disappoint his fans who enjoyed his stylings, typically immature college and high school students, it was funny to us. There isn't one "film critic" out there that would stick their neck out for this movie and that's understandable but for the people who enjoy this type of humor, it was a hit for us.

Freddy Got Fingered is so beautifly absurd I was grinning at the stupid-as-fuck things that were going on without needing any punchline. And I reaaaaally liked that. It made me feel way better than just laughing at jokes for several seconds - the grinning was a more interesting experience, because when a really stupid scene was playing I was going through multiple emotions, and that's why I like this movie. Also it's well shot, directed and edited. The only thing that people can complain is the script. But it was stupid, Tom knew it's stpid, everybody knew it's fucking retarded. And when you know they know - you can actually get into it.

The RedLetterMedia Re:View episode on this movie goes into great detail about how it might actually be secretly genius, and I can't help but agree with them! They point out many times where the film seems to be mocking the very structure of 'those types' of films from that era in general, and theorising that some lines (Like Anthony Michael Halls lines at 7:15) may have actually been said almost verbatim by the previous director, who had walked out of the production specifically because of a "lack of direction". They also point out a scene where Gord is handing over the last of the million dollars he got from his cartoon to construction workers. ("I spent $150,000 on jewels, I spent $100,000 on a helicopter. Here's $750,000. That's all my money. All my money gone. Easy come, Easy go!") To quote RLM - "He's talking about the budget of this film!. They gave him a 'million' dollars to make something with...and he turned it into shit!" Even Roger Ebert conceded somewhat in his view of the film a year later. In a review of a (largely forgotten) Tom Green film called Chasing Amy, Ebert wrote "as hard as I was about Freddy Got Fingered, I remember it!"

Most underappreciated comedy of the 21st century. It's funny because Tom never stops making fun of himself and his audience.

Well if you think about it Tom Green's original show was about him acting like he didn't understand boundaries, so when he was making this movie he wanted to make it with no boundaries. I think this movie is very Meta . The idea of the making of this movie is actually funnier than the movie itself.
@tiye65 Жыл бұрын
This movie was raunchy, Vulgar, and insane, but it also was funny. This is why nobody pays too much attention to movie critics, they are uptight, fake posers that will rarely like an action movie that may have too many explosions, or blood, yet entertaining...Will not like a comedy that that has way too much dark humor, though very obviously funny. Yet if the movie is boring and will put you to sleep, normally agreed it was great. I normally listened to Ebert and Siskel, and if they agreed a movie was good. or bad, I did the opposite unless huge fan base also agreed. Critics are too busy trying to act like movie intellectuals to actually know good from bad, and can not be trusted. When I look at Rotten Tomatoes , I don't care what the Critic score is, I look at the real movie fan side.

Over time, Ebert would actually develop a grudging level of respect for Freddy Got Fingered: "But the thing is, I remember "Freddy Got Fingered" more than a year later. I refer to it sometimes. It is a milestone. And for all its sins, it was at least an ambitious movie, a go-for-broke attempt to accomplish something. It failed, but it has not left me convinced that Tom Green doesn't have good work in him. Anyone with his nerve and total lack of taste is sooner or later going to make a movie worth seeing." Roger Ebert
@ryantanner486 жыл бұрын
I think what the main thing wrong with this movie is its absurdity and abundance of shock value. Now, shock value can be funny, but everything is played out so over-the-top and wrong-headed that it's just plain unfunny. There's no method to the madness, as there is complete randomness without any real subtlety or reason. It's basically a poor man's Monty Python.

Roger Ebert saw the movie and said, "This movie doesn't deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence with the barrel". I thought he would look at this movie and say, "I quit." He also looked at this movie and said, "I think this thing just gave me cancer. Why couldn't this have happened BEFORE this movie was made?" Luckily Gene Siskel didn't live to see this. I know this is in bad taste, but considering the film being discussed---what other approaches could we use?

I think that's the thing about Freddy Got Fingered. It's just obscure, with movies like Jack & Jill or the Seltzerman/Friedburg "Movies" (such as Epic Movie and Disaster Movie) those offered up something for me to hate. This movie is just too weird for me to show any reaction other than a confused head tilt.
