Күн бұрынWhat do Dexter cows eat? By moving our mini Dexter cows from paddock to paddock, we have free cow feed. The Dexter cows will eat brush and weeds and clean up the land. They also eat grass and clover. Wanda even has Dolly and Candy eating coconut cookies. The mini Dexter cows are a great plus on our homestead. Easy to handle and feed bill in low by using the free feed we have available.

Man I have never herd the cows talking like that .I love it . When my dogs go outside they start talking to all the dogs in the neighborhood. I love listening to it .

Its usually Dolly being vocal but today he wanted his turn. That was so sweet watching him bump your leg gently so you would start petting him again. Yall made a good choice with the breed you got. Have a blessed day.

My grandparents used to call the cows something like that, it was Haweeee for the cows and suey suey for the hogs. That brought back some memories. It sounds so peaceful out there. Excellent Video As Always. 💯👍👍😎☀️🇺🇸

Danny & Wanda, I love to see that you have Dexters. I read about them years ago and always thought they'd be better to have than full-sized cattle. I just could never get my husband interested in having a homestead. Maybe when he's resurrected, he'll have more energy for that :)

Dexter cows are so cute and tiny compared to other breeds. I quite enjoy seeing this smaller breed because their legs look better proportioned to their bodies. Also, they remind me or corgi dogs. =D

Both my grandfathers were farmers. One was a dairy farmer with huge Holsteins, the other raised mostly Herfords and Black Angus. We grandkids used to fight for the privilege of feeding the cows. He chopped and mixed his own silage, which was a process itself. Thanks for sparking some great memories!

Something you may want to consider is Azolla. A quick growing water Fern that can be raised in the heat. That is high in Protein it is widely used on small scale farms. For animal feed..

I have 30 of large breed cattle and they’re just as gentle. You spend time in your pasture with them daily they’ll mellow out but some are just bad news from day one. When your working them in a catch pen keep a low tone and slow movement and they’ll stay calm.

Ì love the little house on prairie book,the dad would raise lots of turnips for animals and gather wild grasses to dry for winter as back up food for animals ,let them free range too.

@DTB I try to spend time but my problem is I just have a lot to do. There not killers .lol but they have their own mind and can be very pushy. But I'm trying to spend more time with them to see if that will help thank you.

Danny, do you drag your pasture with a section harrow or chain harrow to spread manure? It’s very effective and you don’t have the clumps of grass around manure piles. Great video! Y’all be safe

I've been seriously thinking on getting a Dexter heifer. I'm not ready yet but I am so glad that y'all have some. But, do you sell them and what would be the cost. I have been talking to a Dexter breeder here in South TX. planning to buy a milking cow and calf. How many acres do you have there? Aren't you in Mississippi?
