Fried Spring Rolls 炸春卷 | Chinese New Year Dishes 新年年菜 新年炸春卷
Hey everyone, welcome back to our last episode on the 2022 CNY series. For this week, we will be introducing a recipe on Fried Spring Rolls. This is a must have dish as CNY also celebrates the coming of spring. Spring rolls represents bountiful harvest in the coming year, signalling a good year ahead.
For this recipe you will need the following ingredients:
250g Turnips
50g carrots
150g lean pork
6 dried mushrooms
Half packet of spring roll skin
Meat seasoning:
1 tsp salt
2 tsp sugar
1 tbsp sesame oil
1 tbsp corn starch
1 tsp white pepper powder
1 tsp chicken stock powder
1 tbsp water
1 tbsp oil
Sauce:
0.5 tsp chicken stock powder
0.5 tsp salt
0.5 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp sugar
4 tbsp water
0.5 tsp soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
Steps:
1. Fry pork until colour turns white
2. Add the carrot and turnips, prepared sauce, 100ml water and simmer 2 mins.
3. Add corn starch solution
4. Cool down in plate before wrapping.
5. Wrap the spring rolls.
6. Fry the spring rolls until slightly yellow.
7. Double fry at high heat until golden brown.
8. Ready to serve.
