To be honest, Gabbie argumentative and cant accept she did something wrong. THAT IS PRIVILEGE. 99.999% of people don't have that and never will. Also the argument that "Oh, but you can comment on video but no time for a hobby?" Is ridiculous. Writing this comment now is taking me 2 minutes, my drawing hobby takes HOURS. Shes just in her own world.

Agree when privilege people constantly stretch to try and make themselves a victim. Another reason she and so many people are so irritating.
@cjb27492 жыл бұрын
Her REAL privilege is the fact that she clearly does not understand what it feels like to lose all hope. When you can't make actual progress, because every bit of your strength and energy goes into just getting through another day and trying so hard to make it a productive and/or positive one. How blessed she is to not even realize how deep and dark depression can get. She hears the word "privilege" and she thinks: money, big house, multiple cars, expensive clothes. Meanwhile, a lot of people don't care about any of that 💩. They'd just like the ability to take a break from responsibilities in order to focus on self-care, cope with pain or trauma, and work through their emotions/issues. Having access to good resources and quality medical care. She doesn't even understand the concept of this level of need. THAT is her privilege.

For someone who has a psychology major the girl really doesn't know a key symptom of depression that people struggle with including myself. Not finding enjoyment anymore/unmotivated to do the things you once enjoy which INCLUDES HOBBIES! i’m a psychoanalysis major and i kinda agree with gabbie on the hobby thing. you have to want something to get it, and the baseline of depression focused therapy is creating little goals to reach. i have the same mindset as her, but not as entitled and arrogant lmao. i’m in school, i have a job and an internship, so i understand not having time for yourself, or enough money to eat. you can find something to do in your daily life, like play sudoku or crosswords if you like old ppl games. for me distracting myself with something that takes a lot of brain power is enough to clear my head. she’s making it seem like you have to be a millionaire with all the time in the world. a hobby doesn’t have to force you to neglect your responsibilities. like get a constellation app and see if you can eventually point them out without it. little things like that make your life a lot more enjoyable. she doesn’t explain stuff well, and is really accusatory?? in her tone, and is basing something very personal on her own experience. she must’ve not taken any applicable psych classes bc it’s very unheard of to share your own opinion without any reasoning. you have to find what works for you, if you’re truly depressed something little to look forward to will be enough to clear your head. it won’t heal it or anything but you can at least keep moving. i do think ppl purposely live their life with absolutely no enjoyment because they don’t think it would make a difference. i have hobbies that take a lot of energy, but most of them barely affect my daily life. you just need to actually motivate yourself to find something, which is a big struggle of depression lmao. the excuses are expected and are normal when you have depression, but it’s either sink or swim, and no one can make that decision for you.

Exactly!!!! Like many depressed people struggle to even get out of bed. Doing a hobby sounds great but it’s like.. sometimes you just can’t bring yourself to do it, and if you do you don’t even enjoy it like you used to. And no hobby can just cure depression. If it were that easy no one would be depressed
@phobiaxz2 жыл бұрын
@@KylaJames I don’t think she literally meant it would cure your depression. I think a lot of people are being nit picky about the things she’s saying because she’s Gabbie Hanna and she’s done problematic things. I myself have been in this situation and I completely agree with Gabbie Hanna. Sure, maybe it won’t be helpful to everyone. But I definitely think it could be beneficial for someone with depression to *try* finding new hobbies. There are inexpensive hobbies that you can pick up and put down whenever you’d like, and also ones you can do while lying in bed. She was right, if you’re low on time then people commenting should take a break from TikTok and get a hobby they can put on hold easily. Knitting and drawing are great and potentially cheap hobbies that you can do while laying in bed for example. I think it’s obvious that not every single person can use or take this advice, and that’s okay. There are a lot of people who have the time, money, etc to have hobbies. If you for whatever reason can’t or even simply don’t want to take her advice, then here’s my advice. *just don’t take it instead of complaining*. If it’s not for you then it’s just not for you! I understand the point she is trying to make - she just did a very poor job. The idea is to just keep pushing because that's all you can do. Future you will be far happier that you tried different things/attempted new hobbies/fought back. By doing nothing - the only thing that is definitely going to happen - is that the depression will continue. And future you will look back and be depressed - just fostering more depression. The whole - nothing changes if nothing changes - concept. She is over-simplifying, though. Depression is not just about a hobby. It is about the way we view ourselves. It is about the way we relate to others, the way we engage with our environment. She makes it seem so simple. But there are hardly many things that are more difficult to fight than your own mind. It is all encompassing. She thinks we are confusing her determination with privilege - I think she is confusing depression with a fundamental emotion like sadness.

I have hobbies and I still have depression and anxiety, just because you do something you enjoy with your extra time doesn't automatically erase your mental health problems. This woman can be so clueless and saying basically "get a hobby and your mental health will disappear" is dangerous to people's health.
@cheeseheadbrownpants28192 жыл бұрын
Not to mention, it’s so hard to have the time for the in between mental health and working. It’s so exhausting and it’s so disrespectful of her to act as though if you magically get a hobby those problems go away. Not to mention hobbies bring you joy in the moment, unless you’re able to do it full time you still have to go back to reality. Her privilege is overwhelming in her videos

people with adhd don't take criticism well...its hard to compute because our emotions are all over the place. We actually all go on the defensive or react poorly to ciritsim. And this is from me who has adhd and struggles with critisim....or struggles to get told how to act or think. I am not saying that her reactions arent poorly .....but i am saying we just need to let her be. Adhd makes you feel misunderstood at all times or makes you read situations weird and then you go on some weird emotional downward spiral cause you get into your head about shit.

I hate hearing “just do it” like everything is just a simple task. Sometimes being stuck in a depression prevents you from doing much of anything. It’s debilitating. It can take everything in you just to get out of bed IF you get out of bed. I would love to pop out of bed each day with a spunky lively attitude but man I’m lucky to answer a few texts most days.
@jesalynndoesthings2 жыл бұрын
Not only that, but most adults have JOBS. I work 5-6 days a week, one day off is used to clean my apartment, do laundry, dishes, that sort of thing. Any extra time I have outside of that, I really do just prefer scrolling on the internet because I can just lay in bed and not really do anything. And having depression makes it that much harder

Honestly I think Gabbie wouldn't have had such a hard time transitioning to music if she hadn't been such a drama. She can't behave seriously, she's not going to be taken seriously and places wont drop money on deals, performances, etc when she can not prove she has the attitude to be invested in.
@court692 жыл бұрын
The thing is, people can have plenty of hobbies and STILL be depressed as hell. Depression can literally deprive you of your hobbies because you mentally don't have the energy to get out of bed, let alone take care of yourself. She underestimates just how bad people might have it.
@laurenmichelle492 жыл бұрын
Ok so the issue isn't her age, it's her immaturity for her age. She may be 31 but she acts like she's about 13. With that being said, she is correct that millennials started the social media wave but TIKTOk is an app that was made for gen-z/kids. That's not to say adults can't have it but tiktok specifically was made for a younger crowd because there are so many age limits on other apps ,so to millennials are responsible for all social media just isn't true. Tiktok is a gen-z dominate app but I've never seen anyone say millennials can't use the app, too? I think shes is confusing people calling her out for her IMMATURITY at her age than just her age.

And hobbies require passion. Where's the passion to grow when you work 8-16hrs/day? Exactly. Hobbies take time, don't take hobby advice from someone who has 24/hrs a day to put forth effort into that hobby. Just because hobbies are meant to be fun doesn't mean they don't take TIME/ ENERGY. If you wanted someone clueless as hell to retail jobs (which most of us work) to give you hobby advice - there you go, Gabbie is here to give us the pinnacle of hobbyist activities. 🙄

As someone who was able amazing career milestones when I had nothing and a computer, Gabbie is very wrong. Towards people saying that others don't age shame on social media. Yes they really really do. I can't speak for TikTok since I dont use it, but you often get stupid sexist and ageist comments when you're above 30 and still online. My partner has heard it all from bottom to top of the list on every platform they have used and she very much has a point with that. That said, it coming from Gabby isn't helpful because she behaves like a manic 15 year old and trying to gatekeep younger people out now. Two wrongs don't make a right.
@itsatinygamer2 жыл бұрын
Absolutely right. It's hard to work toward making it on KZfaq, Twitch or other social media. I'm trying to so that I can quit my retail job and stay home and take care of my health better, or best as I can, and be able to have enough followers and subscribers so on the days I need to take a break I don't have to worry about if I'll have enough money for rent, bills, etc., but it can be so hard and frustrating sometimes to get those numbers and viewers up. The fact that she thinks she can spout 'advice' and the rest of us should be grateful she's even addressing us, nah, that ain't it. Also the 'realization' she came to that she's 'famous'. Gurl, don't pat yourself on the back too much. You might fall over.

I honestly think that a lot of ppl called her privileged cause of the hobbies she mentioned in the post, like who has the money to make sky diving a hobby and isn't at least a bit privileged. I don't think she would have received this type of back lash if she mentioned more affordable hobbies or just phrased it a lot better. Another aspect of this is just pure interest. Maybe one can sketch but does not want to, maybe they want to do pottery but can't afford classes. That person doesn't need to take up sketching because they need a hobby to be "a productive member of society" or something. Also do not tell other people how to live their life and say what will make them happy. Having a hobby can be stressful or frustrating at first because you aren't going to be perfect or even good at many things before practicing. Also just don't tell people how to live in such a direct way. Or if you do expect the response Gabbie got lol
