It’s not that she’s too old to be on TikTok, it’s that she’s too old to be behaving the way she behaves. Look at any past drama if you want/need examples. Also, giving herself the celebrity status is weird lol.

I'm quite sure she is More than aware of what she does and is in full control of the decisions she makes, she just won't accept what she did was wrong and only wants "Yes People" surrounding her. If she does something wrong she Immediately either blames ADHD for being rude or blames everyone else. Literally only took 1 person to reference a incident she's caused without naming names for her to go completely off on them and everyone else involved.

@@sproutglob7126 I disagree with that just because I think she genuinely believes she's a victim in a lot of situations and isn't just pretending to act that way for more views and engagement. She genuinely thinks she's a victim in those situations yet fails to see how she has done the same thing to others or how her actions (trolling or not) may have lead her there. I don't believe that she is literally acting out a character in all aspects of what we see of her online. Being hypocritical and being unable to see it, is a lack of self awareness

I feel like Gabbie sits alone in her house and is really sad and lonely if she doesn't fill the time. Advanced depression. Most of us have jobs, lives, friends etc., but I feel like this girl has just isolated herself. She seems like she is struggling a lot right and I'm sure making any reason to get out of bed does seem like miracle advice to her at this point. But it's Gabbie Hanna, she usually misses the point.

To be honest, Gabbie argumentative and cant accept she did something wrong. People arent saying shes privileged because shes saying hobbies are good, people are calling her privileged because she is famous, has a singing career and a loyal fanbase, working her dream job with the money she has. THAT IS PRIVILEGE. 99.999% of people don't have that and never will. Also the argument that "Oh, but you can comment on video but no time for a hobby?" Is ridiculous. Writing this comment now is taking me 2 minutes, my drawing hobby takes HOURS. Shes just in her own world.

@cjb2749
@cjb2749 2 жыл бұрын
Her REAL privilege is the fact that she clearly does not understand what it feels like to lose all hope. When you can't make actual progress, because every bit of your strength and energy goes into just getting through another day and trying so hard to make it a productive and/or positive one. How blessed she is to not even realize how deep and dark depression can get. She hears the word "privilege" and she thinks: money, big house, multiple cars, expensive clothes. Meanwhile, a lot of people don't care about any of that 💩. They'd just like the ability to take a break from responsibilities in order to focus on self-care, cope with pain or trauma, and work through their emotions/issues. Having access to good resources and quality medical care. She doesn't even understand the concept of this level of need. THAT is her privilege.

For someone who has a psychology major the girl really doesn't know a key symptom of depression that people struggle with including myself. Not finding enjoyment anymore/unmotivated to do the things you once enjoy which INCLUDES HOBBIES! I learnt symptoms of depression taking psychology when I was 15 and are drilled into you if you continue taking it like I have all the way to uni.
@juno3281

i’m a psychoanalysis major and i kinda agree with gabbie on the hobby thing. you have to want something to get it, and the baseline of depression focused therapy is creating little goals to reach. i have the same mindset as her, but not as entitled and arrogant lmao. i’m in school, i have a job and an internship, so i understand not having time for yourself, or enough money to eat. you can find something to do in your daily life, like play sudoku or crosswords if you like old ppl games. for me distracting myself with something that takes a lot of brain power is enough to clear my head. she’s making it seem like you have to be a millionaire with all the time in the world. a hobby doesn’t have to force you to neglect your responsibilities. like get a constellation app and see if you can eventually point them out without it. little things like that make your life a lot more enjoyable. she doesn’t explain stuff well, and is really accusatory?? in her tone, and is basing something very personal on her own experience. she must’ve not taken any applicable psych classes bc it’s very unheard of to share your own opinion without any reasoning. you have to find what works for you, if you’re truly depressed something little to look forward to will be enough to clear your head. it won’t heal it or anything but you can at least keep moving. i do think ppl purposely live their life with absolutely no enjoyment because they don’t think it would make a difference. i have hobbies that take a lot of energy, but most of them barely affect my daily life. you just need to actually motivate yourself to find something, which is a big struggle of depression lmao. the excuses are expected and are normal when you have depression, but it’s either sink or swim, and no one can make that decision for you.

Literally, my hobbies include training my dog, hiking, painting, drawing, and running and I do those almost every single day and I still am extremely depressed. I get up at 6:00 am every morning, go to work, go to the gym, get home and take my dog on a hike for about an hour, then draw until bed but I’m still miserable.
@KylaJames
@KylaJames 2 жыл бұрын
Exactly!!!! Like many depressed people struggle to even get out of bed. Doing a hobby sounds great but it’s like.. sometimes you just can’t bring yourself to do it, and if you do you don’t even enjoy it like you used to. And no hobby can just cure depression. If it were that easy no one would be depressed
@phobiaxz
@phobiaxz 2 жыл бұрын
@@KylaJames I don’t think she literally meant it would cure your depression. I think a lot of people are being nit picky about the things she’s saying because she’s Gabbie Hanna and she’s done problematic things. I myself have been in this situation and I completely agree with Gabbie Hanna. Sure, maybe it won’t be helpful to everyone. But I definitely think it could be beneficial for someone with depression to *try* finding new hobbies. There are inexpensive hobbies that you can pick up and put down whenever you’d like, and also ones you can do while lying in bed. She was right, if you’re low on time then people commenting should take a break from TikTok and get a hobby they can put on hold easily. Knitting and drawing are great and potentially cheap hobbies that you can do while laying in bed for example. I think it’s obvious that not every single person can use or take this advice, and that’s okay. There are a lot of people who have the time, money, etc to have hobbies. If you for whatever reason can’t or even simply don’t want to take her advice, then here’s my advice. *just don’t take it instead of complaining*. If it’s not for you then it’s just not for you! Let it be for someone else

oh please. how many people buy starbucks daily when a cup costs like $5? just with that enough amounts to a lot of money per month and year. how many people are spending money on and buying makeup, nails, hairstyling products? it all costs money and isn't cheap either - yet many girls and young women are all done up. cut down on one of your habits (i.e. going out to clubs, drinking alcohol, smoking) and you're gonna save enough money to try out one of those things at least once. I mean it'sv not like sky diving is super expensive. I think it's about 200 something-300 something dollars for one person - or at least last time I checked. ya'll aren't poor. when I was a kid in school many kids had enough (parent's) money to affor ipods, smartphones, addidas/nike apparel and shoes. ya'll are not short on cash ya'll are just bad with money.

Depression can literally show up on brain scans: it is physically harder for a person with depression to experience joy. It was physically harder for me to enjoy anything when I was deep in depression. I had plenty of hobbies but I didn't feel like doing any of them. Also, if though love worked everyone would thin. Shaming people only makes there struggles worse. She is privileged and the fact she thinks she's not shows how little she comprehends actual struggle is. ALSO jetskis and rug making?!?!?! I understand the point she is trying to make - she just did a very poor job. The idea is to just keep pushing because that's all you can do. Future you will be far happier that you tried different things/attempted new hobbies/fought back. By doing nothing - the only thing that is definitely going to happen - is that the depression will continue. And future you will look back and be depressed - just fostering more depression. The whole - nothing changes if nothing changes - concept. She is over-simplifying, though. Depression is not just about a hobby. It is about the way we view ourselves. It is about the way we relate to others, the way we engage with our environment. She makes it seem so simple. But there are hardly many things that are more difficult to fight than your own mind. It is all encompassing. She thinks we are confusing her determination with privilege - I think she is confusing depression with a fundamental emotion like sadness.

PSA FROM A TEENAGE GEN Z: we literally do not care like at all how old you are on TikTok as long as the stuff you put on there is appropriate. Gabbie is putting stuff on the internet that she, at 31 years old, definitely knows shouldn’t be there. Hence the “at your big age” type comments. Edited in a side note because her rant about hobbies pissed me off: this girl fully does not understand depression, does she? For many, when depressive episodes start, getting out of BED is a huge headache, and finding something to spend time on is literal hell. Not to mention, there are disabilities that limit people from doing certain things. I say this as a disabled person. It’s like, yeah I’d love to take up drawing Gabbie, would you like to take up doing the rest of my menial tasks while my hands reduce in stiffness? Yes Gabbie, I’d love to work out as much as you, would you like to pay for my relief meds for my crippling muscle aches? God, this girl has like no tact or consideration for others.

What irks me is Gabby’s sense of entitlement and complete lack of comprehension about the issue of depression. People don’t choose to be depressed, and depression is not cured by a hobby. She’s hurting her followers who now might think there’s something wrong with them because they can’t shake off their depression in spite of trying a hobby like she said. And who is she to tell everyone how they have to live their lives?!?!?

I hate hearing “just do it” like everything is just a simple task. Sometimes being stuck in a depression prevents you from doing much of anything. It’s debilitating. Ok so the issue isn't her age, it's her immaturity for her age. She may be 31 but she acts like she's about 13. With that being said, she is correct that millennials started the social media wave but TIKTOk is an app that was made for gen-z/kids. That's not to say adults can't have it but tiktok specifically was made for a younger crowd because there are so many age limits on other apps ,so to millennials are responsible for all social media just isn't true. Tiktok is a gen-z dominate app but I've never seen anyone say millennials can't use the app, too? I think shes is confusing people calling her out for her IMMATURITY at her age than just her age.

And hobbies require passion. Where's the passion to grow when you work 8-16hrs/day? Exactly. Hobbies take time, don't take hobby advice from someone who has 24/hrs a day to put forth effort into that hobby. Just because hobbies are meant to be fun doesn't mean they don't take TIME/ ENERGY. Towards people saying that others don't age shame on social media. Yes they really really do. I can't speak for TikTok since I dont use it, but you often get stupid sexist and ageist comments when you're above 30 and still online. My partner has heard it all from bottom to top of the list on every platform they have used and she very much has a point with that. That said, it coming from Gabby isn't helpful because she behaves like a manic 15 year old and trying to gatekeep younger people out now. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Absolutely right. It's hard to work toward making it on KZfaq, Twitch or other social media. I'm trying to so that I can quit my retail job and stay home and take care of my health better, or best as I can, and be able to have enough followers and subscribers so on the days I need to take a break I don't have to worry about if I'll have enough money for rent, bills, etc., but it can be so hard and frustrating sometimes to get those numbers and viewers up. The fact that she thinks she can spout 'advice' and the rest of us should be grateful she's even addressing us, nah, that ain't it. Also the 'realization' she came to that she's 'famous'. Another aspect of this is just pure interest. Maybe one can sketch but does not want to, maybe they want to do pottery but can't afford classes. That person doesn't need to take up sketching because they need a hobby to be "a productive member of society" or something. Also do not tell other people how to live their life and say what will make them happy. Having a hobby can be stressful or frustrating at first because you aren't going to be perfect or even good at many things before practicing. Also just don't tell people how to live in such a direct way. Or if you do expect the response Gabbie got lol
