@lmaemac6 күн бұрын
It wasn’t that she chose simple and natural. Anyone can do that. It was more the fact that WE ALL KNO, she’s had brow lifts and tint, facials and probably surgery, eyelash extensions and lifts, lip filler and face filler… THIS is the verbiage that pushes those beauty standards that everyone was dragging Kylie Jenner for last week when she was crying about it. THIS is the stuff that creates those standards.

@@taiyabazaheer9492 it’s not the no makeup look that makes her a pick me. @@G2rtTrare you saying/assuming women who wear more revealing styles are supposed to feel shame and guilt? It’s internalized misogyny and it goes the other way even more so in many cultures. Any feelings or shame and guilt come from being made to feel that way and having that projected on to them from judgmental people. There are plenty of cultures where expectations of modesty and their extensions makes women feel shame in their bodies and sexuality. Why do women always go after other women about something? It’s sad. I loved her dress. It was beautiful and timeless. She catered to her husband that day and what he finds beautiful. That consisted of her in little makeup and in a dress that didn’t take the attention away from her beautiful and attractive face. Pick me vibes? That’s a reach. Not everything has to be lace and revealing. I feel second hand embarrassment for these girls with something to say.

It’s her choice she can do whatever she likes. It’s shocking how women who want the “best” for other women won’t be happy with the choices another woman makes. I’m a Muslim I practice modesty, seeing so many women have such a hateful reaction to modesty makes me feel pretty shitty.

I don’t know these people at all, but in my opinion the only thing that I would side eye here is the idea that her husband wants her to be in the conservative dress and that’s the reason she picked it. Like, this is a model who is by definition, not often covered to this extent, so if her husband is pushing her to wear more conservative clothes that does seem odd and potentially problematic.

@@Junitunes but she's very clearly wearing false eyelashes and eyeshadow. I don't think it's bad or that she is a pick me for wanting a more natural look on her wedding. Is this for real? Did that girl really get so pressed because Olivia is promoting modesty for her freaking wedding? I hate when people think that someone’s personal choices, opinions and beliefs are somehow a personal attack… like did she really think Olivia gives two shits what kind of wedding dress the girl wants for herself… she’s pathetic and Olivia and her husband are correct, she’s an awfully mean person.

Beautiful wedding! Don’t really know who she is but I think this was such a beautiful thing that she showed off as she should. Taking the covenant of marriage as serious as it’s supposed to be! I am pretty sure she will live a long and happy marriage along her loving partner which is something not many women get to have because they only get married to show off their skin or have a huge party and not take it seriously. She decided to not wear that much makeup because she wanted to come to the altar as pure and natural as she wanted to be for her loving husband.

claiming that someone wanting a wedding dress that's not sexy is the same as saying someone is "asking for it" is reaching so far the girls on mars, what the actual fuck, same thing with the girl criticising that Olivia didn't wear makeup and calling it "pick me behaviour" ....Olivia talked about her personal choices and the reasoning behind them because she was asked and these women decided to go all out and pick apart everything including shitting on the wedding dress she clearly loved??? that is honestly disgusting. Talking about the problematic behaviour of big designers is just about the only relevant thing anyone's brought up but I feel like it's mostly another way to make her problematic rather than a genuine concern

People need to understand the moment we are living in in America - women’s rights to our bodies are being stripped away daily. Women are dying. Olivia and Christian went out of their way to make this about women being more serious or worthy of marriage when they are covered and modest in this political moment, and nobody made them publish their wedding.

"But they contacted Vogue, what did they expect?" I don't think the couple were looking for people to question their personalities and morals, calling a woman a pick-me girl over dress and makeup isn't warranted. I hate when people use the ways of the internet to justify their cruelty. The amount of people on TT who are sending them hate is insane. We can talk about Dolce and Gabanna, but people don't care. They just want to tear a woman down.

Yes it's her day and perhaps people are reading into it. But we're living in a time where slut shaming and aggressive mysoginy is making a very harsh comeback (let's be real, it never went away). And women have also participated in this behaviour as we've recently seen online. The way she speaks and the way she says things is important, it does matter. And for people to boil it down to "omggg people are wayyyy to pressed and sensitiveeee" is not doing that any justice.

Pretty sure if the interview wasn’t done and all those comments made about the dress and makeup didn’t exist no one would be talking about this negatively. You can’t promote and publicize your wedding and expect the masses that you are posting to only blindly follow with unwavering support. A dress can be beautiful and exist on its own. When I take my megaphone and say into it “I’m wearing this pink dress because no girl is brave enough to wear pink in today’s age” uhm then that changes the symbolism of the entire dress. People are saying to leave this woman alone, well she should have never asked for the attention then. Everyone posted online is subject to not just positive but negative opinions and a negative one isn’t always a wrong one. I do think it’s a bit of a leap to start discussing their political career. We will just have to wait and see how that unfolds and if this was the first stone used to build their suspected conservative road.

The only problem I see with this is her saying "oh I'm not wearing makeup!" when it's obvious she has lash lifts and her brows done and some sort of lip on. Her wedding, her dress, her vibes, it's not my wedding so I don't care. But it feels weirdly dishonest to make it a point that she's not wearing makeup when she has a hundred other things going on that make it so she basically doesn't have to to look like that.

People do have a lot of time to be offended by a wedding but what I will say is her face is not natural and saying it is is perpetuating harmful notions that she can achieve a clear natural face when it’s not there’s other cosmetic procedures involved otherwise leave her alone but she should’ve said I have a lash lift blushing on my lips etc

@Rose612344 күн бұрын

@Rose61234 I think what is bothersome about it is the wording that was used. For example, your wording in your comment sounded so much better than "my husband likes me covered," or however they stated it in the interview.
@Rose612343 күн бұрын
@@tarnishedsoul2749 i didn’t catch the wording but I got the gist of the message she is trying to portray. And it makes sense seeing as she’s literally Miss Universe and a model. The world judges her and gives her value based on her looks and body. But her husband is the only one who sees her as more beautiful when she’s covered. Massive green flag right there in my opinion.
