ENDURANCE ROOM

Күн бұрын

This video is an overnight bushcraft trip in the style of Nessmuk. It is a response video to my friend Anthony from Pooter Stomper. I show the gear that I brought to smooth it in the woods, including a DIY rucksack modeled after the Finnish M05 rucksack, a hand carved wooden Hobbit pipe, and a hand carved hobo reel for fishing. Steak was cooked on the open campfire. It was a good trip, despite the thunderstorm in the middle of the night.

Ok I’ve subscribed to the channel since the corporal gave you shout out. Admittedly I would a video here and there. But this one really hit me hard. I watched it twice and was really blown away from the content to production. So I went back in time and watched all of your videos like a mental patient. Your very inspirational and made me rethink on how I approach gear, working out, being in the woods and just life. Brother keep up the amazing videos. Can’t wait for the next one. As you say “Cheers” -Thanks Joe

I like the pack and the light colored lining you added to give contrast to the objects in the pack. Nice idea. I also like the idea of the smaller Polish bag for short trips from camp.

Jason Kaiser thanks! I got the idea from seeing the Hidden Woodsman gear. He uses bright colors inside his bags. Seemed like a great idea. Those polish bags are cheap, about $15

Nice job on the pack! Since breaking my back twice, I've had a lot of difficulty with sleeping comfortably. The position my body takes in a hammock is ideal. Camping hammocks (pea pod styles) saved my outdoors adventures! I was watching you blow on the fire thinking the stem from your Hobbit pipe would have made a great blow pipe.

I made a bunch of the bug dope. I followed the same formula, but I used lavender oil instead of pennyroyal. I got little clear 1 ounce glass bottles with cap on ebay, a 12 or 18 pack I think. The bug dope definitely works! I have used it on multiple occassions including on a wooded path to a lake ~ 1/2 mile long or so. vicious mosquitos, but with the dope, did not get bit once. I think it is actually the pine tar which masks your scent. the lavender gives it a much better fragrance than straight pine tar which is pretty pungent. I might like to try balsam fir essential oil next time, or even vetiver, or some lemon eucalyptus. For one recipe using ounces 3 + 2 + 1, I doubled it, so I got 12 1 ounce bottles of bug dope.

Crusher 313 They are really nice packs. A little heavy, but they can hold a ton. think it is over 100L. The harnessing system is great. I used it and did a quick review in our Catskills video from a month or so ago. They would be great for winter camping or BOB or INCH bag

Great video man🙂 does sycamore carve well? There are lots of it where I am. I read somewhere that it was bad firewood and shrinks a lot so I just kind of pass it by. I need to stop doing that and exploring with stuff
