Gwan my man big respect ✊🏾 Edit : health covers the diversity of human condition, ages, genders, colours. There are disabled people like myself who train and it’s nice to see athletes and influencer who diverge from the dominant majority archetype. It helps us see that you can be strong or fit or have fitness aims without being the 6 pack idol. Thanks for the visibility and more power 👍🏾

It is a great content and I appreciate your help in demonstrating different exercises. I have a question, if I want to burn fat without an increase in muscle mass especially for chest, what is the best low reps with weights for dips or high reps with only body weight? Thanks.
@funwithcalisthenics
@funwithcalisthenics 6 ай бұрын
High reps, with no weights is my recommendation. High reps, means more like a cardio workout, so better for weight loss, although I can’t say where the weight will come off from. We are all different.

Hi Anthony, been enjoying your vids and have been inspired to use some of your methods. I’m 63 in a couple of day. Can do 12 chin-ups, 8 pull-ups, around 30 dips at just over 90kg. Just managed 75 chin-ups in 25 mins using your 3+2 method. Some way off 1000! My question is, what’s your body weight, and how much running do you do for general fitness? I run 4 times a week and do gym training 3 times a week. Seems a good balance. Currently do 5km in under 25 mins for Parkrun. Subscribed!!

Wow, you are doing well, not many 63 year olds can do what you do. My body weight is 82kg ish.. I used to be a keen marathon runner until 15 years ago, when I reduced it for various reasons, and now I have arthritis in my big toe, so no regular running, but I do it from time to time.

Thank you sir. My goal for 2024 is to get to 10 consecutive pullups with good form. My previous best is 8, but that was a few years ago. I do struggle with them, but if I focus I believe I can get there. Maybe muscle-ups next year! (ps: Have you ever had any issues with Golfer's Elbow?)
@funwithcalisthenics
@funwithcalisthenics 6 ай бұрын
I’ve been very lucky, no problems with shoulders or elbows, other than a few aches for over use, fixed with a little rest. I’m sure with a little more consistency in your training and a few extra sets, you’ll slowly build your numbers! Good luck!

Your pullup technique at the end of the video with full extension is different from the one when you tried reaching 30 reps where you kept your arms slightly bent at the lowest point. Is this a recent change or is it something you vary depending on the goal?
@funwithcalisthenics
@funwithcalisthenics 6 ай бұрын
Well spotted. When I was going for 30, I was going much faster and admittedly the reps weren’t as full as they could have been. In today’s video, I was taking it slowly, working on my form, with a seconds rest at the bottom. No reason other than I like to mix it up!

You are too kind. Funny too. 😂. The resistance bands are a great way to get started. However, it’s likely that you’ll also need to learn to use the momentum of pulling up of your legs, which I’ll show in my next tutorial video, hopefully within the next week.

@@funwithcalisthenics I watched your videos from 3 years back and saw that you used resistance bands so I bought a pack of them about a month ago. You had to Kip then to help out with the pull ups but now you don’t Kip at all, which is pretty dang good in my book. You said in one of your videos to video-record yourself to measure your progress - and I’m doing that too lol.
@funwithcalisthenics
@funwithcalisthenics 6 ай бұрын
Excellent. Yes in my earlier video, 3 years ago, I used to kip to get a pull-up. I guess this is normal when we start out, as we try anything just to get some lift. Looking back at that video, it makes me realise how far I have come. And now you are filming too. It feels weird to start with, but it really helps with analysing the good and bad bits. Excepted for you! My next video, I intend to make it all about how to kip.. and kipping yourself up and over that bar. But I need a few good weather days to film it, and it horrible outside at the moment, so may be a week away.
This is brutal. But it makes bodyweight wizards.
