Give Me An Answer with Stuart & Cliffe Knechtle

Cliffe Knechtle has a great conversation with college students at a campus in the southwest US.
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This was an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

If humans are imperfect beings with free will, than evil is inevitable. It doesn't require being created. Satan ruling Hell is a misconception. He does not now nor will he ever rule it. It will be his place of eternal punishment like all unrepentant sinners.

no doubt the thief on the cross sinned up until he was crucified and would have continued if he didn't get caught, he was on his death bed, he wasn't going to be let down off that cross to go free and repent, he asked Jesus for forgiveness, within minutes of his death, and Jesus said today you will be with me in paradise...God will forgive a sincere confession...and forgive...that is a perfect example of his love and mercy...😔

Murri16 the King James Version reads, " I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things." How does Isaiah 45:7 agree with the view that God did not create evil? There are two key facts that need to be considered. (1) the word translated "evil" is from a Hebrew word that means "adversity, affliction, calamity, distress, misery." Notice how the major English bible translations render the word : "disaster" (NIV, HCSB) calamity and "woe". The Hebrew word can refer to moral evil, and often does have this meaning in the Hebrew Scriptures. However, due to the diversity of possible definitions, it's unwise to assume that " I create evil" in Isaiah 45:7 refers to God bringing moral evil into existence. The context makes it clear that something other than " bringing moral evil into existence" is in mind. The context is God rewarding for obedience and punishing for disobedience. "Woe to him who quarrels with his master" Isaiah 45:9.

Good point Andro Might I add, GOD created evil as the consequence of sin.....this was an instantaneous response to Lucifer's rebellion of pride. Evil is the complete opposite of the essence that is GOD. GOD never spoke evil into the earth like "let there be light" but Lucifer's act of sin immediately (beyond our comprehension) drew out what is the exact opposite of GOD.

One thing that has to be made clear, is that the devil will not be the ruler of hell. On the contrary, he will be burning in hell, along with his demons and those who choose to reject Christ’s gift. The reason he hates us so much is because God loves us. He wants to spite both God and humans by separating us for eternity. He knows he’s going to burn in hell, he just wants us to burn with him. But great video, Cliffe! I love the way you respond to these questions.

I may be wrong but I would have to disagree with the line of thinking @ 16:23.He says satan rules hell and Cliffe agrees with him, maybe to just keep the conversation going, but I believe that comes from fairy tails and not the Bible.The Bible shows that satan, like a lion, goes around on the earth seeking whom he can destroy. It says that hell is reserved for satan and his angels. If that is the case then satan does not live in hell but lives on earth, where he was cast down to from heaven.

Actually, God did not create hell. The atheist created his own hell: Hell simply means separation from God, and if you wish to live your life separate from him, then he will grant your wish, and you will suffer as a result. Your suffering is your responsibility and your fault, not God's.

Cliffe takes the standpoint of a Christian that interprets some of the written Word contextually. However, in the Bible, even Jesus attests to the story of Jonah and the whale and even HE indirectly says that he takes the Bible literally. (Matthew 12:40)
@mackdmara
@mackdmara 6 жыл бұрын
Joshokitty He gives a smile between his resurrection & the well known story of Jonah. If you choose to interpret that as him saying it was literally true, go right ahead. The issue is I say, 'Our path is as strait as an Unicorns horn.'. Do you think I believe in Unicorns? Maybe I do, maybe I don't, but Nothing in that smile suggests I am affirming or denying Unicorns are real.

He didn't address the young man's question about Old Testament accounts such as Noah's ark and Jonah and the "big fish" (not a whale). I am curious about whether those would be considered historical narratives... since that's a big argument for a lot of atheists and other faiths.
@MarkProffitt
@MarkProffitt 5 жыл бұрын
The flood Noah & his immediate family survived provides details that are confirmed through science today such as fossilized fish on the peaks of mountains & the record of the event spread around cultures on the entire planet, & DNA of the common male ancestor being more recent than the common female. Similarly for Jonah. He went to Nineva & events transpired as described. His skin being discolored after being in the belly of the fish suggests some scientific support. Also it mirrors Jesus dying, being in the earth for 3 days & 3 nights and rising on the 3rd day so it is a type of foreshadowing.

I’m not making any appeals to popularity or appeals to consensus but the fact is that Jesus of Nazareth, without money, weapons, armies or political power, conquered more millions than Alexander the Great, Caesar, Mohammed, and Napoleon; without modern biology, chemistry, physics or cosmology, Jesus Christ shed more light on things more human, more divine and more beautiful than all philosophers and scholars combined!! Jesus Christ produced effects which lie beyond the reach of orator or poet; he set more pens in motion, and furnished themes for more sermons, orations, discussions, learned volumes, works of art, and songs of praise than the whole army of great men of ancient and modern times!! This is an historical fact!! “Even those who have renounced Christianity and attack it, in their inmost being still follow the Christian ideal, for hitherto neither their subtlety nor the ardour of their hearts has been able to create a higher ideal of man and of virtue than the ideal given by Christ of old” (Fyodor Dostoyevsky).
