I ordered some Greek and Turkish 8mm from Centerfire Systems. The price seemed too good to be true, but what condition was the ammo in?

Great video. I had a delivery of Turk 8mm and 1939 Greek from Centerfire yesterday. My experiences are the same as yours. No issues shooting about 40 rounds of the Turkish, including the nastiest most tarnished clip I could find. For the price this is decent stuff to add to the stash.

I received one of the Norway rounds in my Turkish order. The bullet was very loose in the case and had aggressive plier marks on it but seemed to have powder in it. When I pulled the bullet from the case and went to dump out the powder I found the case was instead full of sand. Everyone should inspect these rounds carefully before attempting to fire them. Squib loads are very dangerous.

Not going to lie I have shot a bunch of that Turkish ammo with the cracked neck. Although I have had some good primers with those Turkish rounds. I've probably shot several thousand of them over the years. Also genuinely love your videos really appreciate it thank you

I recently got some Greek from cfs as well. I ordered the 20rd boxes. Most boxes came with a 1940 date stamp, and some with a 1938 date stamp. Oddly enough the 1940 ammo has so headstamp. I tested both. The 1938 with headstamp shot fine at about 2475fps with a sd of 10. The 1940 stuff also shot fine with minor cratering at 2500fps with a great sd of about 6. The 1938 has a green sealant on the primer, the 1940 has a black primer sealant and a different crimp on the bullet. Both boxes are labeled 7,9 ss, pch. The box is of slightly different construction between the two.

@@8mmmauserman typo correction; the 1940 ammo has *no* headstamp. 1940 avg 2510fps, sd 4. 1938 avg 2470fps, sd 10. I also tested some 1940 Yugo heavy ball avg 2400fps, sd 8. The Yugo ammo shot more accurately out of my rifle, a yugo capture k98 with a pristine bore.

I got their 600rd option a week ago. Out of 600 I was missing 5 rds on a stripper clip and when I went through all of it I got around 138 rds that were too loose or cracked necks so I ended up dismantling them for components, around 200 rds that were really tarnished but looked fine to shoot , and the rest looked decent. For the price I’m alright with all of it and planning on getting more

05:12 Headstamp National Origin (12 o'clock) ج [star inset in points-up crescent moon] ط ج = ط ( "CT") stands for _Turkiye Cumhuriyeti_ ("Turkish Republic") [1923-Present]. Post-WW2 the Western letters TC were used. (Modern Turkish script, established 1928 by Ataturk, has a simple Latinate alphabet that was clearer than the various variant Turkic cursive scripts.) Caliber (9 o'clock): *٧.٩* = 7.9 = 7.9mm Mauser Year (3 o'clock): *١٩٢٦* = 1926 = 1926 AD. Turkey officially used the Christian Gregorian calendar rather than one of the various Muslim calendars. Manufacturer (6 o'clock): *ر* = "R" stands for Rødfoss Patronfabrik ("Raufoss cartridge factory"); Raufoss, Norway.

I also have two bandoleers of Turkish and a few boxes of Greek. What I have found is that the Greek rounds have a very hard time being pushed into the receiver. They have some type of fine , powdery particles on the brass that makes a lot of friction against the feed ramp. Otherwise , my M-48 runs every other ammo just perfectly. Did you have any feeding issues with the Greek, John? I will say that I was also getting nice groups with it also.

Greeks only produced this ammo on contract for the British for their BESA machine guns during WW2 and also some FN.1930 rifles for other countries. Greeks only really made 8mm mauser for the small handful of mausers they had and for export.

@@8mmmauserman I've been following it so far. The Greek rounds are supposed to be machinegun rounds for the British BESA mg during WW2, so I assume they would be hotter like other ammo made specifically for MG use.

PCH sold locally in the Middle East and there were a lot of French-speaking clients (especially the French Mandate over Syria and Lebanon). It was also a big trade language going back to the Crusades (the origin of the term "Lingua Franca"). In fact, the Arabic word for "foreigner" is _Ferenghi_ ("Frank" or "French"), as they believed all Europeans spoke French.
