Heath, that is one wicked machine ! Would be neat to process small logs on too. Set up a rolling rack like they used to use to stock grocery stores…..lay the log on and just roll feed them in. Sounds like you plan to feed logs to it 👍Cool 🪵🪚 will be neat to see this happen 👏 Rick

Thanks. It does have a small rack that attaches. One of my next videos will be running logs. I also just picked up some additional rollers from an auction for a future build! Have a great day!

I think the Samurai saw would be perfect for 4’-8’ long limb wood.

Glad to see the Samurai in action! It made short work of cutting that locust down, are you planning on cutting log also? Take care - TC

I am, that is the main reason I purchased it. I used it on logs for the first time the other day. As soon as I get it edited and get good cellular service I will get it posted. We are out of town for a baseball tournament for the week.

Forgot to ask. Are you able to easily get replacement blades and have you picked one up yet? Any idea about life span?
@hardworkingmanoutdoors
@hardworkingmanoutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
I asked about them when I picked the saw up and the salesman said not many people ever have to replace the blade. So for now I only have the one.

Available in the United States? How big is the opening in that saw to put a log or slab board?

I found a dealer I believe in Kentucky called Hamilton Equipment I believe but the place in Canada was much closer to me. It is rated for a 12” cut. I am not home to measure but would guess the opening is about 14-15”

How do you mark the 16 inch cut. Can those machines be purchased in the USA.
@hardworkingmanoutdoors
@hardworkingmanoutdoors Жыл бұрын
There is a rod you adjust out with the black spring loaded bar. Set it to 16” and run the log to it and cut. Can be set to whatever length, not sure what the max is. When I was looking I thought there was a dealer in Kentucky but the one in Canada was a lot closer for me. I know the place in Canada will ship to the US. There is also a metal measurement bar mounted on the left side for when you just need to cut the end off a piece.

Do you buy in the wood, or is it mainly tree service?
@hardworkingmanoutdoors
@hardworkingmanoutdoors Жыл бұрын
I do not buy wood as of now. I go get all of my own wood clearing land for people, cutting in my own woods for habitat improvement etc.

At baseball. The good news is my nephew is with us for a Missouri baseball trip so I put him to work. Video coming soon. Nate who is my best worker shattered his finger and earned a few stitches with a hit by a pitch 😕

I was wondering what the cost would be for wear and tear/maintenance on tractor running. Adding hours to tractor etc.
@hardworkingmanoutdoors
@hardworkingmanoutdoors Жыл бұрын
I’m not really worried about the time on the tractor etc. this will be very easy work for the tractor compared to plowing, hauling logs, etc. I am also keeping an eye out for an older tractor to use to run the saw to free up my Kioti for other tasks while sawing.

@@hardworkingmanoutdoors what is the hp requirement for the saw?

15hp. The Pto just powers a hydraulic pump that drives the hydraulic motor.

I do like the idea of the Samurai. You need to take care of your back, you only have the one. I learnt the hard way, now I’m disabled. How much wood do you produce each year?
@hardworkingmanoutdoors
@hardworkingmanoutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I am definitely better now about taking care of my body than I was when I was younger. More importantly I teach my kids to take care of theirs. From hearing to eyes etc. As far as what I produce each year I’d say in the past probably only 15-20 cords. But as my kids get older I am getting more serious about it and would like to hit at least 50 cord next year and go up from there. I do not buy log trucks etc.
