We might be a good idea to take a page from RV owners. They leave the black tank valve shut even when hooked up to an on-site sewer line. This ensures that nothing gets stuck at the valve and that you don't get what's called the poo mountain. That's where the solids pile up at the bottom of the tank beneath the inlet since the liquids are allowed to flow right out. So I would say while you're at sea keep the valve closed until the tank is at least a quarter full. This will keep Sea Life from growing on the inside of the valve as you saw and help keep a poo mountain from developing. This also help ensure that the valve is not ever accidentally left open when in areas we're dumping is prohibited. Depending on how long it takes to get to a quarter tank you can simply make the opening of the valve as scheduled event. Like every morning it's a particular person's responsibility to open the valve for 1 minute then close it.

a handy colour code and easy to remeber is "rub (red) your (yellow) balls (blue) with (white) grease (green)" It also stops them from rusting lol. We used it for 1O meter marks with pieces of flat cord, which lasts much better than paint 😁🤗👾

Great to see you again Molly, your smile lights up the night honey, you're all looking great, really nice engine that one, looks and sounds great . I can see you're approaching a precipice Nate, ultimately reaching the hour of your operations further potential in the form of expansion, a Sister Ship to sail in tandem , such is the nature of your platform, very exciting work. All the best regards from here on the West Coast side of Australia 🌏 Cape Naturaliste. P.s , I went looking for you guys at the Swan wreck, but couldn't find you,oh well another time perhaps. Bon Voyage

"I'm going down to work on the engine" he said and started watching (and filming) the guys actually doing the work, while he explained, "now we need to use a hammer". Hilarious honesty, man.

I just had an idea. Trouble getting the windlass to pull the anchor up? What about an electric winch like on the front of my 4WD to assist the windlass?

So what happened to Nerea and Aitor? Not a word said about them. Really odd that you finish a season with 2 of the longest staying crew leaving and you didn't say anything about it. Well it's good to see Phil and Molly back though!

So what is the story with Copper antifouling paint. I hear it is the worst for coral reefs. That one peace landing on coral will kill it instantly? And i also have been told that it flaked off/sloughs off when used for bottom paint? As you guys are concerned about the health of the oceans and coral being a part of that delicate eco system. Why are you using that copper antifouling paint, other than it does a good job? Take care!!!

Greeting and question: Nate and crew, aloha nui! I am wondering why you Nate are so seldom in the trenches getting greasy in and with your motor. I guess you can't be an expert in everything - and you certainlyare in so many areas- but it would seem that your professed paranoia could be replaced with knowledge, and experience , (the hands on kind) and ultimately, confidence, That said, delegating is a fine talent, a responsible discerning choice also! Sylfia looks great with the oxidized copper surface.
