Something that Mildred did not bring up is that Murder Lady's stripper routine can only be described as "Erotic Wayne Parents Death". My dear wife's back stiffed and she whispered "Martha!" when we watched this episode as the Murder Lady ripped a string of pearls from her neck, which the camera lingered on exactly as it does in every batman adaptation before returning to Nick and Schanke.

It feels like they were going for a succubus theme in this one but in that case why not just make her an actual succubus? You already have vampires and ghosts. Really weird choice!

Based on how the description of the plot went, I was absolutely expecting this to be a Poison Ivy magic lipstick/pheromones kinda deal. Actually went back and rewatched because uh, I felt like I missed that reveal.

I think this whole episode was designed to demonize sex workers. Almost exclusively tbh. "The evil yet hot lady who can convince any man to do as she commands" trope without using any super natural explanations as to why its so easy to get them to do things other than she's a lawyer who chooses to go stripping.

Given how the actors are emoting in the scene, I don't think Nick is lying to skanky, he's using his eyes to invite him into a conspiracy to trick the audience with an undercover fakeout. No idea why he's doing that in the plot. But I like that he and skanky have fun little secrets together.

They should have literally just made her a different type of vampire. Maybe she has powers that aren't familiar to Nick and then he realizes..."Oh shit she's some sort of emotional vampire." Then we have more supernatural threats and likewise Nick has to wonder if he can figure out her weaknesses and win. Maybe he has to talk to his own vampire friends and they pool centuries of experience together to figure out what exactly they're dealing with.

My favorite part of this episode is where Matt eloquently describes the beautiful and interesting way many Native folks speak English, but apparently without any awareness that it's a pretty common cadence/accent for Native folks to have hahaha I laughed our loud when he said it's like Stonetree isn't really paying attention to the people he's talking to, like his mind is on a million ither things at once--lmao it really be like that when you're talking to older native men especially So to answer Matt's question my best guess is that it both is and isn't a character choice. The actor is probably just speaking in his normal speaking voice, but it def IS a choice to NOT code-switch and thereby highlight that the character is indigenous

It feels like they were hinting at something akin to Poison Ivy with the lipstick being so focused. Basically a chemical mind control. But in that case, why make her an ex-attorney and not give her a chem degree? Same ultimate impact, "she's SMART for a stripper, and that's dangerous!" (blech), but actually serves the plot. And, like, maybe Knight is mildly susceptible to it, but his vampiric nature makes it weaker, not last as long. I wonder if part of the problem was that it had TOO MUCH Batman similarity and in the process of filing the serial numbers off it got entirely incoherent.

Have to second the call that some kind of vampire seducing power should have been at the bottom of this, would have been 100% better. In the episode's mild defense I'll say horniness on TV was a wildly complicated thing to depict in the 90s for all kinds of legal and cultural reasons.
