Great Content! Is it true that the V5 filter on the IQair is not sealed inside a plastic bag? Some reviews talk about smell coming from V5 and in some cases the company ship them new V5 filters becasue IQair tell them they cannot control how the product is stored after the factory. What could be the reason behind not sealing the carbon filter?

Thank you! 1) I don't think the V5 filters are sealed in a plastic bag. 2A) Hmmm... I know IQAir admitted they had a bad batch of carbon a few years ago and some customers were smelling an odor coming from the unit. 2B) I also think it is possible that a lot of chemically sensitive customers may order the IQAir units because they hear they are "the best" so I think some of the customers complaining may be chemically sensitive (and chemically sensitive people can oftentimes smell all sorts of odors). 2C) Also, I think IQAir uses a different type of carbon than most other air purifier companies. So perhaps their carbon is more prone to off-gassing? IDK. 2D) IQAir has been selling directly to consumers for the past 3 years in the US so the units should be coming directly out of their warehouses, I would think. (I think mine came directly from their CA. warehouse). Unless some of the orders are being stored and shipped from Amazon warehouses. 3) Austin Air doesn't seal their filters in plastic bags either. That said, one of my three Austin Air units did, in fact, off-gas for a few hours when I turned it on but that is OK. Sometimes their units will off-gas for a few hours when you first turn them on. 4) All that being said, I do think the IQAir carbon does a good job with VOCs and odors and I think their HealthPro Plus is really good so... I wouldn't be discouraged by some folks saying they smell something coming from their units - esp. if the manufacturer is willing to ship out replacement carbon filters. Thank you! 👍

I didn't even know IQair offered a air purifier and had I known I wouldn't have invested in Dyson and Coway. Legit the Health Pro 250 looks* high grade; I so want it now. Thanks for making this video, I appreciate you! P.S. - Is there a recommendation for considering Air Quality Monitor (for up to PM 0.3) including CO2? Thanks again.

Thank you for your feedback. I do appreciate it!😄 ** Just curious - can you please say what country you are located in that you have not heard of the IQAir brand? They have distribution in many countries throughout the world and I'm just wondering how you have not heard of them. I am sure they are not super popular in every country but they are somewhat known in the US... It took them about 10 years to penetrate the US market and become known as a reliable brand (from @2000 to 2010). Thank you for the feedback on this - it helps me better understand what is going on in the world from an air purification standpoint. 1) I currently do not recommend any testing air quality monitors as I have been using a few of them the past few months and I do not trust their accuracy. You may wish to look at this video to see some of the disparities between 2 somewhat popular units: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iNN5gJyXu9e2fo0.html&ab_channel=AirPurificationEducation 2) The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency - in the US) has said that air quality monitors less than $5,000 tend to be inaccurate... and I think that has, unfortunately, also been my experience. The testing units that the US uses for the AQI (Air Quality Index) cost from $20,000 dollars and up so I currently do not think less expensive options for general consumers are as accurate as we would like. 3) I do think it is good/beneficial to have professionals test your air quality for mold and/or radon if you think you may have either of those in your environment. 4) I currently have 4 different air quality testers (from $40 to $300) + 2 sensors on air purifiers in my environment but I do NOT trust any of them and I do NOT really care what they say... I currently tell people to invest their money in air purification solutions that can best help with Ultrafine particles (as these are the most dangerous to humans) instead of purchasing air quality testing equipment because we just don't really know how accurate they are... 5) This is my current stance on the air quality sensors on the market - that I am familiar with. Of Note: I am NOT an expert on this stuff and I recommend people do whatever they wish on these issues/matters. I am only informing people of how I currently, personally feel about these issues. And my opinions may change over time as I gather more knowledge and experience. Thank you for the comment and Good Luck! 👍

@@AirPurificationEducation Thanks for your response. I am from Delhi NCR Region, it's the capital of India. Without saying much if you can research the air quality in Delhi, Noida, Gurgoan you'd know India is in desperate need of optimum air filtering solutions. 1. I've reviewed many of your videos and found them educational. Thank you. I agree that you'd would need a proper industrial type air monitoring device for accurate results. However, there must be something that comes closer to it. 2 & 3. There are many air monitors out there such as Temtop, InkBird, Airatom, Kaiterra, IQAir, Hotkrem etc. Would you consider any of these brands or other, any specific model that may feel "adequate"? 4. Makes sense. Do share your experience with the Health Pro 250 - Maintaince, costs, Filter change and other observation? Thank you. 5. :)

Thank you for the answers. Yes, unfortunately, I am familiar with the poor air quality in India. Very Sad for the people, for sure!😥 1) My Temtop monitor tells me the air in most every room I put it in is "Good" - even if no one has been in the room for over 2 months and it is really dusty. Plus, it says the 2 hotel rooms I put it in had "good" air quality... but the Dylos said the opposite most of the time in the Hotel rooms... I'd trust the Dylos over the Temtop for sure... Although, I sometimes get some bizarre readings with it, as well. And since Ultrafine particles seem to be such a terrible health hazard - I'm not sure of the value of a monitor providing readings on .3 or .5 micron-sized particles and above. Even if they were accurate. And the EPA also said the monitors become less accurate over time, LOL! So, I certainly don't want people to get a monitor and believe the readings it is providing them... when it could be way off (and maybe even less accurate 3 months later). I don't want people to have a "false sense of security". To me, that is the WORST thing that could happen. I'd rather have them invest their money in good air purifier equipment. For ex. I don't know what the particle concentrations in my family room are but I have an IQAir HealthPro Plus running 247 so I feel like I'm doing just about as good a job as I can to improve our air quality in that room. I have 4 different monitors but I'm not gonna even look at any of their readings. All that said, a woman posted on my channel about 3 days ago, "Speaking of CO2, watch out, as a closed-up room can easily surpass 1000ppm. Most CO2 monitors are grossly inaccurate, but I can recommend a couple that are nearly spot on. The SAF-Aranet-4 and INKBIRD are the two best out there. No air purifier will clean CO2." I asked her why she felt they were so good but she hasn't responded, yet. She also said, "No VOC sensor is accurate" and she has a HOTKREM 2.5PM monitor that she likes - but it is even less expensive than the Temtop and a guy with industry knowledge recently told me all those cheaper monitors have "cheap Chinese sensors in them" and they are not accurate... I currently think I agree with him. So, I really don't have any air quality monitor recommendations. Even the IQAir monitor says "China" on it. 🙄 I currently think they will provide different inaccurate readings based on temperature, humidity levels and also airflow, as well. I think it is difficult to accurately test for VOCs and Particles (especially smaller ones) in the air. 4) I did a video on the IQAir HealthPro Plus vs. Aeris unit a few months ago: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oNakfqxlu9Clcps.html&ab_channel=AirPurificationEducation You may want to take a look at that video as I go over and compare both units and I think they are 2 of the best particle filtering units currently on the market. I don't think anyone would be making a mistake by choosing either solution. I consider both to be a wise investment in one's health, for sure. I feel very fortunate that I have the IQAir HPP in my family room and I will be replacing the Austin Air Healthmate in my bedroom with the Aeris 3 in 1 very soon, as well. So, I feel like I have 2 of the best units for particle filtration on the market... Please let me know if you have any questions - thank you! 👍 @HarsimranSinghMegaShipz

@@AirPurificationEducation I think you lose some credibility everything you imply "China" = Bad. Latest iPhones are mostly made in China and they are pretty good devices.

Thank you for your feedback, Massimo! Can you please mention where you saw that I implied China = Bad? I don't think I mentioned China in this particular video. I do know I mentioned China in regards to iRobot manufacturing the Aeris units in my "Best Air Purifier of 2024" video and I remember I mentioned China in my "HEPA Filters - are they all the same?" video. 1) Actually, I have told customers in the past exactly what you mentioned in your comment. I've said to them, "Well, we can't say all things manufactured in China are poor quality as many cell phones and digital equipment are made there and a lot of that equipment works very well." 2) That said, if you've seen my "HEPA Filters - are they all the same?" - it appears to be pretty clear that the Chinese-made filter that is supposed to be "the same quality" as the authentic US-manufactured Austin Air Healthmate replacement filter is not of equal quality. It is 5 lbs. less than the American-made original filter - and it appears to have less carbon. Plus, the gasket seal does not appear to be as good, either. 3) I know of 2 very high-level US dehumidifier manufacturers that both tried to make a unit in China and both of their efforts failed miserably. Both units malfunctioned at a much higher rate than their US-made products. ***One of them had to discontinue manufacturing the Chinese-made product altogether - within 2 years of its inception due to all the problems they were experiencing with the unit. ***Both companies typically offered a 5-year warranty on their dehumidifiers but they only offered a 1-year warranty on their Chinese-made units. That is because the Chinese-made units were less reliable. 4) I have had business owners tell me that Chinese-made industrial dehumidifiers are not nearly as good as the US made ones. They said you can buy Chinese made air movers (fans) and that is OK but stay away from the Chinese made industrial dehumidifiers. 5) All the "residential dehumidifiers" (dehumidifiers less than $400) in the US are now Chinese made and they do not perform as well as they did even 5 years ago.. The quality seems to keep getting worse over the years and their lifespans keep decreasing. 12 years ago, you could buy a residential dehumidifier and expect to get 5-12 years out of it but today - many folks are lucky to get 4 years out of it as they break much more quickly. 6) In general, China is not currently regarded as a reputable place to get air purification equipment manufactured. In the air purification industry - "Chinese manufactured equipment" is generally seen as a negative. ***I do not currently know of an elite air purification solution that is manufactured in China. ***I've talked with air purification manufacturers who told me replacement filters made in the US are somewhat similar in quality to the manufacturer's quality. However, the Chinese-made replacement filters are not as good. And I saw this firsthand with the Chinese-made Austin Air replacement filter mentioned earlier. 7) So, I am open-minded on this issue, and the best air purification solution in the world may possibly be getting manufactured in China right at this moment - but I am not aware of it. And things can change and maybe a Chinese-made air purification solution will be the best in the future - as anything is possible... but... ***Right now - yes, many cell phones and other electronic devices that are Chinese-made are of good quality. And yes, some "decent Air purifiers' are currently being manufactured in China. **However, no US air purification (or high-end US dehumidification) manufacturer wants their products to be associated with "Chinese manufacturing". Neither does IQAir - and their products are currently made in Switzerland and Germany. ***So, all in all, I do not think my stance on this issue "Hurts my credibility" - these exact same opinions come from some of the most reputable air purification manufacturers in the world. I hope that made sense. Thank you! 👍 @@MassimoFazzolari
