I have a PTR 9CT, and I run mine with a Holosun 403 the included factory riser. Allows for a neutral head position, completely clears the sight hood, and allows me to use the irons through the mount.

Yes, embrace the Roller Delay superiority once more. You know once you find a build you REALLY love, all gas guns become 2nd rate in comparison. My personal perfection was found with an 18 inch JLD variant with the match heavy barrel. Upgrades include Spuhr stock, MFI claw rail (looking for a good deal on welding on a long rail from HK Parts), swapping back n forth between a Monstrum 2-10x30 MPVO and a Steiner T536 Prism sight (Currently also looking at a Primary Arms SLx 4-14x44 with ACSS reticle), offset red dot, Aim Sports Tri-Rail handguard, KAC VFG for stabilizing standing/kneeling shots and a Fab Defense AFG in front of that for transition to red dot, Picatinny bipod legs that clamp onto the sides of the tri-rail, flashlight with pressure switch running through some snap on rubber rail covers+cable guides combos I found on Amazon to cover the cheese grater. Plus I got plenty of leftover space on the bottom and right side for IR shit once I decide to completely fuck up my priorities LOL. Oh and a simple clip on 2 point sling attached to the Spuhr stock and factory front loop works well for me.

I think these are issued to some Haitian forces, I'm pretty sure I've seen them in recent pictures from down there. No braces, though.

You might look at snagging a Witt Machine SME. Basically a 3 chamber brake with a flash can that screws on over it to help a ton with the concusiveness. I love mine one 11.5 5.56 and 12.5 6.5 Grendel guns

I have had an EOTech on my Sagia in 7.62x39 for well over a decade. Never caused a malfunction but the ejected brass (steel actually) is doing a real number on the outside edge of the EOTech.

I've had dog shit luck with the PTRs. I currently have one of their 16 inch models and they couldn't even get the cocking tube gap set right. What pissed me off even more is the fact that they refused to look at the rifle before 500 rounds were fired. Gonna give em hell at the next show.

I've really enjoyed your series on the PTR Guns, There is a lot to love but also a lot of problems with them especially when it comes to moving them into a modern setting. I've Owned a K3P for about 4 years now and have experience many of those growing pains. (Including 3 months of swapping parts to get it to run correctly, ended up being an out of spec extractor). I do love the gun and agree it needs something on the muzzle, i Run a 3" KAC flash can and eventually plan on getting a HUXWRX flow through can for it so will hopefully not need to mess with the locking piece. Stock Muzzle device or worse a break is like getting slapped in the face after every round fired.

I feel the same about my PTR 32 . I have a good one , its been dead reliable . It has gone through so many iterations and layouts . Bought and sold furniture and im back to bone stock with some very nice walnut furniture, Mepro night sites, and the Magpul grip, that has a much better angle and ergos. I get the urge to try something new but ive tried everything and i enjoy it more in the original layout .

I had a similarly frustrating road with MP5 clones back in the day. I went through tons of them, a bunch of money and still never got a working gun until Zenith starting importing the Z-5RS from MKE.

Perfect barrel length for some 125gr SSTs. Also, it's obvious that your optic choice should be the largest thermal you can possibly fit on the rail. Like a PAS-13 HWTS, that one especially would really balance the whole build out.

I wish here in Australia, we could have joke guns like Hop has. It's a joke that we can't.

i have a nice preban hk91, no problems ever with the gun. i did add a ar15 stock with a hk21 buffer locking piece for suppressed shooting, and a timmy trigger. the hk21 buffer and locking piece is a huge upgrade the gun shoots so soft now. probably cause its heavy as hell but its fun to shoot.

Awesome project gun... I bet your the hit of the party when you go out with friends and let that thing do the Talking...! One option that may make that Beast just a little more conducive for not only being more pleasant to shoot but to keep it from destroying itself, would be to see about some custom loads by a quality manufacturer. Super Vel Ammunition used to take an individual's components and load for them whatever they wanted, but don't know if they are doing this still. This might be something that would still give you the .308 capabilities , but just a little softer recoil and easier on the weapon. Since there are so many different projectiles for the .308, you could have a lighter projectile loaded a couple grans of powder less and have a great training round and also configure a load for serious work as well using a lighter Lehigh Defense Controlled Chaos projectile. Whatever you come up with, I enjoy your work, and as you mentioned, sometimes you just have to go with what's fun...!

Don't worry man. We're all guilty of wanting these. I got like 3 floating around constantly. As far as the EOTech goes, you could just toss a riser beneath it to get it out of the path of the cartridge.

The 403r is a decent optic choice for an hk. Since its got the little chunk on the bottom it pushes it up a little higher on a low mount which pushes you just above the front sight ring. Still slightly visible but much better.

Funny enough, on my 9CT a (don't laugh) Bushnell TRS-25 provides a cowitness rather than placing the dot on the hood. I've done other dots too and shooting both eyes open makes the front sight disappear anyway when you are target focused.

Use a standard 45 degree locking piece. Works in mine suppressed or unsuppressed.

You have a 4T floating around somewhere, right? Use the .22" spacer on the low mount. That'll get you over the front sight ring. You might have to do some screw fumbling but it would work.

I'm looking into getting a CETME C parts kit, so I guess that will be my gateway drug to PTRs.

I blew mine running it suppressed 😢 maybe a hux flow thru it will lock the bolt to the rear and damage the plastic ring and break the rear stock assembly. If you want a shorty 308 that runs with everything get a Lmt Mws with a 13.5 barrel

You can get a 40 degree locking piece that would be between the 36 and the 45.

For an optic, the Holosun 512 or AEMS Max may help with overhang, they seem much slimmer

I got a 51 when braces weren't 50 shades of gray. Took to loading ammo to try to optimize performance. Could get 1.5 inch groups at 50 yd. As near as I could figure, bout a 4 foot group at 100 yds.

you should try using the krinkov style muzzle booster. I think if you look up AK-100 4 piece brake, that is the style I'm talking about. It has an inverted cone that makes up a blast chamber. They tend control flash and blast quite a bit in short barrels.

Needs AR trigger group with Super Safety installed and buffer tube in higher position similar to Spuhr.

It would be funny if it was modernized in 277 Fury - Biw that more powerful cartridges have circled back into the fold.
