I've met active duty seals and other Tier 1s, and they are pretty chill in general. That is just part of their demeanor, likely part of their mental compartmentalization. I was joking with some a few years back when they were showing off some of their equipment fresh from factory, and the compass on their boat was cracked all on the inside layer. They actually have tried everything but shooting it to see what would crack it, they got the factory to replace it before deployment.

Pop A Dock I think any SOF / SOCOM / Tier 1 guy should gain permanent, lifetime exemption from pretty much all gun laws, especially the NFA. If you reached master status with a 10.5” SBR in the military, there is zero justification for barring you from having one after you retire.

Lots of good advice for fast close range engagements. Really useful for practical shooting. The loose grip with the trigger hand is something I need to work on for the exact reasons you describe. However, most range orders will rule out the high ready over here in the UK. We are a crowded island and range danger areas are small. Generally its low ready for us. Its referred to as standing alert in UK range orders.

AWESOME and thorough! The high port position has changed my whole approach to handling the AR. You gave me some points to hone while training the muscle memory.And hallelujah- finally, I find an authority with the light on the left side. I wondered if there was a reason against that.The high ready is like carrying a spear to drive into the enemy. I find the nozzle eye level on target preps the optic to position direct to your eye with red dot on target.

Nah. Not even close. One of the biggest problems we have in the USA is douchebags who think it's cool to disrespect or make fun of another person. Asian cultures have a culture of respect. I grew up in Asia, so I know. I was shocked, even back in 1991 when I returned to the USA, how much disrespect americans have for each other. Shameful. This dude deserves your respect. He was willing to die to protect your freedoms. Just because you live in a country that gives you the freedom to say whatever you want, doesn't mean that it's beneficial to say it, especially when it's hurtful or disrespectful.

Mr Hake, please comment on this -- no matter which retired 'operator' I pay to train me, they all say the same thing, "forget the SEAL high-ready when in civilian CQC." Point being made is that when we solo clear a room, as we pie the corner, we want the weapon at low ready to quickly engage threats in prone position, who may be setting up a trap for you. If your weapon is in high ready, not only do you have obstructed view of the floor as you enter a room, but you may also be too slow to maneuver the weapon to engage the threat. I won't pretend to know more than any SEAL, so I would love your input on this. Thank you good sir.

@TacticalHyve

Many people always think one or the other, and units will have their preferences. But the best will always know both and let the situation dictate which one they use. There are pros and cons to each method. Even the low ready, as many in the Army do it (which varies from other units), has blind spots, e.g. imagine someone crouching. A traditional low ready will allow you to see them, but the low ready you described would block one's vision. Pros and cons to all of them. Anyone who tells you one is better than the other has a very narrow view of things.

I noticed that at the 1:09 mark it looks like you had the first joint of your trigger finger wrapped around the trigger as you fired. I was taught to place the meaty part of the finger (located between the tip and the first joint) on the trigger. Maybe it isn't so important for a rifle as a pistol but isn't there more of a chance of the shot going down and to the right (for right handed shooters) if the first finger joint is on the trigger? what are your thoughts?
@TacticalHyve
@TacticalHyve 5 жыл бұрын
Good question. This is Myles from Tactical Hyve replying. If you want to ask Greg directly, the best way is via our forums where he's available to answer your questions. In the meantime, I can share what I"ve learned from our subject matter experts. It all boils down to the reality that there isn't one way to do things and understanding the concepts and principles behind techniques are much more valuable than the techniques themselves--as one technique may not work for another person. I've often been taught that proper finger placement is usually going to be between the middle of the fingertip (i.e. between the tip and the first joint) and the first joint. You'll have to find what works most natural and best for you. I've seen great shooters with different finger placements, both on pistols and rifles, and their placement has fallen between the middle of the fingertip and the first joint.
@tacticalbuddies

Being a Ex-SpecOps & a master trainer, I would like to share my experience and what I deliver to my students is, every person has different body mechanics, so handling of weapons will be different accordingly. As far as the placement of finger on trigger, it's always different when you are using Pistol or when you are using Rifle. On Pistol trigger, it must be the center of first joint and on Rifle it must be the first joint to control the jerk of recoil on your finger. Next time when you practice with your Rifle, you can notice the difference between both techniques, try this one out and feel more comfort, you will not feel the jerk of recoil on your finger.
@andrevantonder8206
@andrevantonder8206 4 жыл бұрын
Your finger falls on the finger where it falls and allows you to press the trigger with the least amount of sight disturbance. We are all differently built and you must find what works for you. After hundreds of thousands of dry fire and live fire shots I have my finger with the actual joint on the trigger. If you have small hands, that would not be possible to do without contorting your hand. Spend more time finding what actually works for you than trying to imitate others.
@clausablepause
@clausablepause 4 жыл бұрын
Is your finger touching the trigger before your sights are aligned on your target? If not, that seems like an extremely risky thing to do. Just because you come off safe doesnt mean you've committed to pressing the trigger. Many times i've clicked off safe or even pointed a handgun at people and they immediately stopped threatening me and complied. Imagine if my finger was on the trigger in that moment. Maybe I'm reading too far into it but maybe not.
