To those who are speculating about why the horse reared - speaking as a horse owner, I can tell you that they are prey animals who spook very easily. To a horse, someone in a dark hooded cloak essentially looks like a hole in the universe moving towards them. It’s scary AF for prey animals who don’t see color like humans do, and have very different visual fields and depth perception. Rearing at a threat like a “moving hole” is within the realm of normal behavior for a horse.

The idea that I got from the scene with Daemon and his wife was when she fell off that horse, she broke her neck. That's why she's not trying to get up and move. Damon stepping on her arm and her not feeling it or moving corroborates that. She couldn't live like that, and she knew by provoking Daemon he would kill her and put her out of her misery. Why else would she taunt him like that? Knowing is temper.

Rhea Royce was paralized…thats why Daemon put his foot on her arm to see if she would react or move, but she did not, so thats how he knew she could not move or get up

I really liked your observation about Harwin Strong carrying off Rhaenyra in the manner that she had just challenged Daemon to do.

This episode was also really interesting because we really start seeing the green and black factions coming together.

In less than 14 minutes you have managed to put together one of the most insightful reviews I have viewed for this episode. As I am obviously an ASOIAF book nerd, albeit not as devout as some of the real deep divers, I obviously watch a LOT of reviews of this show I am pleased to see that Criston, going forward will become the character I loved to hate in Fire & Blood. I was becoming concerned with his "simp" personality to which the show seemed to be alluding. Daemon, by contrast is just as I imagined him to be in the book. The music is now starting to really matter as well. Ramin has been very clever and subtle. How many times did you watch GoT before you recognised all the music themes and where they belonged? And the amazing intertwining of them as the show in the latter seasons as Faceless Men/Stark, Stark/Danaerys/dragon/Lannister/Ironborn etc came together? Hehe, I am a classical musician and many of my re-watches were simply to catch the music So far, I don't really have any gripes about show adaptations that might differ from Fire & Blood as at the very least the show gives a voice to Viserys other than an obese incompetent fool.

Alicent has a lot of nerve to judge Rhaenyra. Alicent threw herself at the King and now she’s pissed because Rhaenyra lied to her step mother about losing her virginity. And I’m so sick of hearing that Alicent had no choice - she could’ve made herself unattractive to the King. Although I must admit, Otto’s right about one thing - killing Alicent’s children would be the best way for Rhaenyra to ensure that she’s not challenged. One of my ancestors killed a bunch of his brothers for the same reason. Btw it’s so funny that you started off with surmising that Criston was not kidding when he offered to kill Jason Lannister. I commented about that twice today on other people’s videos. And Rhaenyra finally wore a dress I didn’t like. I think the white dress looked too modern. Thanks for the video!

Criston Cole tried to kill himself at the end and alicent stopped him. I do not think for once second that he was trying to protect Daemon and that is why he murdered Joffrey lol. That is pretty far fetched to justify his actions. He was angry and he lost control.

3:56 Did you just miss that she's supposed to be paralyzed from the neck down? Also in the initial scene they set up that he's paying more attention to her horse than her. He scared the horse. She can't feel him step on her arm or move because she's paralyzed. He was just gonna leave her there to die, but she said some more shit so he bashed her with a rock.

I don't think Rhea foolishly mocked him. It looked like she couldn't move at all, which meant he was leaving her to die since she was alone on the hunt

Just wanted to say before I start this video that I was excited for it last night!! I searched it to see if Bridge had his post shiw video out yet!! At the end of Tony Teflon's pregame show Bridge said watch close to this episode, because there were things that you'll miss if on your phones. I think there's a lot people could have missed or misinterpreted in this episode if not paying attention to detail and was excited to what specifically Bridge was referring to!! Re: the king's hand... my opinion is that Rhaenys (Mrs Seasnake) knew all about the king's amputated fingers. Such information would be known to her spies, and may even be common knowledge. So she probably grabbed his hand deliberately, to mark his weakness. Which is also why the king was forced to sail across the sea, climb up around the island, trek up around the castle, just to find Coryls seated in his timber throne. The whole thing was a "welcome" designed to impress on the king that he was weak, frail.

Love alicent as a character , she really stepped up and made her powerplay after she realized she couldn't trust Rheanerya and in what a dangerous Situation she and her Kids were. She and Viserys are really my favorite characters in the show so far.

Correction: the horse fell on Rhea Royce’s neck & paralyzed her…. In the books it says something like the horse fell on her and crushed her neck and skull. Even the show runners talk about this after the episode and I believe it’s Ryan Condal who said he found it strange how it read in the books that it broke her neck “& crushed her skull” and he felt that it was clear that Daemon killed her… He steps on her arm and she doesn’t move her fingers or feel it. Then he finishes her off as she’s lying helplessly… Also the GREENS & the BLACKS are diff and the wedding is diff than the books… Ser Joffrey Lonmouth dies by Ser Criston Cole by being hit in the helm in the tournament. Plus Rhaenyra is wearing white, so the BLACK is represented more by Daemon? What do you think? Anyway, I love your videos Bridge! So many good videos and love following you! Hope this info helps!

Again...this week, there's an emphasis on the Weirwood Tree / Godswood. Which is somewhat suspicious to me 🤔 We are re-introduced to Larys Strong here....why here? This scene could have taken place at other gardens in the Red Keep...like the one where Viserys walked with Laena Velaryon in episode 2. Also, the scene where Ser Cristin Cole try to commit suicide...why the Godswood? He's from Dorne...this scene could be done inside his quarters in the Red Keep? I just hope there's a HUGE pay-off in future episodes/seasons! Or I'll be pissed because there's not supposed to be a Godswood in the Red Keep anyway 😤

People that are criticising this episode are conditioned to Hollywood standards of storytelling of surface level storytelling. Each episode is meant to be watched 2 or three times to fully understand the behaviours of the characters not even what they are saying. Their behaviours/expressions will lead you to understand their actions. The only show that makes me want to understand the chracters to such and extent is succession. So watch to try and understand and not just for shock value

An intense first 5 episodes to make way for an even more intense second half of the season lol.

Why did Daemon run away when the fight broke out?

I think Criston atacked Joffrey because it was a suicide attempt. He was devastated, got blackmailed, and may have thought to himself “this is my chance”. He must know about guest rights, no matter how dumb he is, and breaking those rights would mean punishment. He attacks an honorable guest of the king at the princess’s wedding should mean death. That’s what he went for imo, and since nobody moved to kill him, he decided to do it himself in front of the eyes of the old gods. I don’t think Daemon had anything to do with the fight, neither do I think that Joff attacked Daemon. We didn’t see, we don’t know. Except for Kev. He knows everything 😍

I'm ready to fast-forward to The Dance of the Dragons. Right now, this show feels more like Melrose Place, than GOT. That's not a knock, either, I loved Melrose. The Rings of Power show, scratches that GOT itch better, since it has more Sci-Fi elements, magic, and lore. 2 great TV shows! Will be sad, when season 1 ends. The wait between seasons is too long!

I'm loving every character. Daemon is pure entertainment and must-see, even when he says nothing. Paddy's excellent acting has made Viserys fun and sometimes painful (in a good way) to watch. But I'm rooting for Alicent and Ser Cristin.

Cole, I like him, did the wrong thing (He's a murderer) but.... he'll get away with it because the Queen Alicent will protect him and he's a member of the kingsguard!

Random pointless detail explained by common sense. But the area laenor and joff were sparring seemed like a it was a fully walled structure at one point, but its seemed overly damaged for a new castle. Even for battle damage. Obviously the location shot is damaged. Narratively it could of easily been battle damage or dragon shenanigans. Totally unimportant, just something that my brain strung together.

I would like to know more about Deamon's sexual problems. There are lots of hints throughout that he can’t or won’t climax. What is up with that? Does he not want to father children?

“In her defense” haha ya Rhaenyra is all about that duty, she is duty bound to serve the realm out of selfless sacrifice not because she feels entitled to it. Cole is pathetic but everyone giving him crap for being emotional and caring for Rhaenyra and had she taken it, Targaryens may have had an actual family left with plenty of their biggest Trump card of dragons. But no she stayed and contributed to destroying her family and dragons all for her reign to ultimately be forgotten by history.

It’s so weird to watch you criticise Rhaenerya and sympathise with Criston. He wants the honour of being a husband so he wants a princess to forsake everything she’s ever known, so she’s in turn indebted to him and under his control. But her rejection of him with a few choice words was the worse thing for you. Ugh.

Cole snapped because he took Jeffrey’s introduction as both a threat to spill the beans that ruin his life and since if Joffrey found out, how many other people might know and how long would it be before he lets someone else in on it? What I gotta ask is where were the other Kings Guard? I think I saw maybe three, including Criston, but they were no where near any of the royal family.

I admire how this series shows how destructive female nature is.
