One of the most annoying things I've learnt about using they them pronouns is that I misgender MYSELF

Same. I recently figured out that I’m non-binary and I’ve started using they/them pronouns but occasionally I’ll misgender myself and think of myself using she/her pronouns since I’ve been reluctantly using these for years.

Oh thank god I started second guessing because I kept misgendering myself- but turns out it's just normal. I'm not non-binary but I'm trans and just wanted to know how to get someone to use my own pronouns. So yeah.

Can I ask a question? What's the point of trying to force your third person pronouns on someone? When you speak to them, you're gonna use second person "you" all the time anyway. You're NEVER gonna need she/he when you talk to them... So what's the point of the whole thing? I just don't understand. If they talk to someone else about you, it's their private conversation. Nothing to do with you. So why does it matter SO MUCH?

I don't know much about the polish language and cultures but is there a possibility that you could still go by they/them and it would be like just using an English word to identify yourself? As said before I'm just asking as I don't know much about the polish language and cultures.

@@bunny-pb3vg People generally take offence to things that they themselves believe to be true. for example i am a straight white male, if someone called me a chick it would not actually bother me one little bit, so my point and my question to you is why on earth does it bug you? and more so why must i be forced to accept your reality (keeping in mind i have my own reality that i live in) maybe of everyone gave less of a fuck about stuff like this everyone would be better off I live my life the way I want, you live your life the way you want and we stop interfering in each others lives and stop trying to make the other do stuff outside of their respective beliefs the real problem here is the fact that you are wanting to force your reality onto me. remember we may have incompatible beliefs, nothing wrong with that, we just need to find that middle ground and as much as i "must" accept you doesn't that mean that you must accept me?

@@EugeneVerster To be honest I really don't understand what you are doing here. Like why would you watch a video about this subject if you don't see the point in it ? And also what you just did is quite disrespectful towards this person who never asked you to talk to them, and therefore didn't force their reality or whatever on you. I feel like it's rather the other way. You are being disrespectful and forcing your reality on others.

I think a lot of parents (mine included) are just in flat out denial of their kid being nonbinary/lgbtq+. Like if their kid is trans or genderqueer they just see it as “a man pretending to be a woman” or “a woman wanting to look androgynous” or something like that, rather than seeing them for who they truly are. I think since they have barely to no education at all on the matter (especially since they were never taught to see this as “normal”) they can’t and don’t want to comprehend this change cause it’s not what they’re used to

I think the best thing is to just let people express themselves the way they want, with the language and words they want to use. The idea of conroling people's expression and speech should be appauling to everyone. There is no respect of people you controle and lf you cannot respect people how can you expect them to respect you? Besides, I've never had a person who advocates to force, pressure, demand or even hope for others to use your prefered pronouns have never used pronouns I ask them to use for me. It's just hypocracy. Those who live more traditionally are far more respectful.

@@catbatlps Respecting language and expression is a great thing. You can respond anyway you see fit. Would you rather I try and tell you that you shouldn't or cannot? It would be hypocritical of me to tell you you cannot say what you like, or for that mater, live life the way you want. Just like it would be hypocritical for you to use any other pronoun for me other than the one I ask you to. But I have come to realize advocates for preferred pronouns are less then consistent.

I came out a few months ago. My mum says she is supportive. She then proceeded to say they/them pronouns don't sound natural and don't suit me. Ending with "But don't worry, i'll always support you because you will always be my Beautiful DAUGHTER". My dad doesn't really understand but he supports me anyway. I haven't told him i want to use they/them because im afraid he'll act like my mum. Neither of them know i want to change names or want to wear a binder. I was given a NB flag as a gift from a friend but have to hide it in fear of my mum even though she said she was supportive. They don't use the pronouns and name for my sister but those are for different reasons altogether. (My sister used to do this thing where she would 'come out' for like a week as some random new thing she learned about and then go back and pretend it never happened. She also never corrects people on pronouns so they think its another one of those. Help??

I need help I want to come out to my parents as bisexual and gender confused but I’m 11 so I think they just won’t care or tell me stuff I don’t want to hear, but I also want to make it quick and easy because it’s not a big deal and I don’t want it to be brought up because it makes me really uncomfortable to talk about it... Help?

My friends are pretty good at getting it right except for two, one who is accepting and the other I'm still not sure. The other seems like he's just bothered by it and just went "oh." I'm afraid for my parents and family they won't be able to accept it or atleast not my immediate family(my mom and dad). My mother is a feminine person and wants to force that feminity onto me (i'm afab and I'm not out yet) and just saying that I was nonbinary, I wouldn't get a good reaction (I dislike feminine things on me despite her knowing this already). And especially with my dad who willlingly calls others f*gs and doesn't agree with lgbt. I'm only 14 and out to my friends (or majority) but I hate that I have to wait until I move out and I'm safe to come out to my family.

Pronouns are used when you're not in the room and you can't compel people to speak about you in a specific way when you're not around. Of course, you suggest living in an echo chamber where everybody gets their own gender pronouns. How about this, step into objective reality .
