If you could find out how others see you, would you want to know? We all think we have a pretty good idea of how we’re viewed among family and friends, but are we right?

I liked how Adrienne did not try to minimize Jeannie's experience with her mother. She tried to see jeannies situation regardless of what the reasons were. I don't think it's fair to blame the fact she's a mother. Her mother is toxic we all know that, after watching her on her channel. Jeannie has every right to not be okay with this

I feel uncomfortable with how the ladies dismiss Jennie’ frustrations with her mother. Mama Mai has proven time and time again over the years toxic behaviour that can come from having a daughter. The mother daughter dynamic is one of the most suppressed relationships in society. As someone currently studying phycology and have had a ruff relationship with my own mother, I relate to Jennie’s struggle to get her mother to respect boundaries and understand that YOU ARE AN ADULT. Normalising these traumatic dynamics is the problem. It should not be acceptable to tear down you daughter “to protect them”.

I think it’s just because they know mamma Mai and they’re cool with her so they wouldn’t wanna put her on blast or gang up on her on television. I hope that’s not how they are with Jeannie outside of the show.

OMG 🤬, when Loni said “because you’re her girl”, I was like😒, it’s clear that people with different colors and different journeys are not the same, we struggle equally but differently, and it’s clear that those Co-Hosts don’t understand the extent of Toxic Parents, especially Asian Parents that are controlling, imagine if Jeannie dismiss Loni Struggles by saying “it’s normal you’re a girl”, that should not be okay, when Jeannie try to explain it in a light way to them, toxic people can be a Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing

Jeannie’s mother is a toxic and abusive narcissist and what she said in this clip is definitely in line with what she has shared about her mother on her own KZfaq channel. Honestly, nothing makes my blood boil more than people, who have a good and healthy relationship with non-abusive parents, trying to gaslight someone else who is sharing something that bothers them about their toxic relationship with their own respective parent - like Garcelle and Loni did to Jeannie. People really need to learn the art of simply listening without giving their two gaslighting cents and downplaying whatever someone expresses because they themselves have never experienced what is being shared. That’s why it’s so important and crucial to share your vulnerability with people who have the ability for perspective taking, otherwise you will just feel worse and gaslighted - and opening up won’t really have helped you. Why is it so hard for some to understand that there are people in this world that have extremely toxic parents, and instead of minimizing that very fact with phrases like ”well, all mothers do that” and ”but your mother loves you” or ”she just misses you”, ”her girl is spreading her wings”, just accept that reality at face value, and validate people’s expression of their truth. This clip contained too much gaslighting for my taste in the part where Jeannie talked about not wanting to be seen through her mother's eyes. And it also underscores the fact that so many people give advice which is filtered through their own perception and personal life experience, which is very problematic in conversations like the one Jeannie had. I'm sure Loni and Garcelle meant nothing bad, but that doesn't mean that Jeannie might not have felt minimized about what she said.

I understand Jeannie... I think we always hear about “ honor thy mother and thy father “ but I feel like love and respect is something that is earned... a child should respect you not be scared of you... Like I feel like looking at Jeannie’s issues with her mom this is something where she is now becoming her mom and she’s trying to unlearn toxic traits handed down to her to break the generational curse of trauma and hurt within the family so despite her being somewhat mentally done with the bs she’s trying to sow into a relationship she deeply cares about... and she loves her mom and her mom loves her but they just need to work on communication and set boundaries
@Sm-ig4rn3 жыл бұрын
It’s a cultural thing. Jeannies mom wants power over her, she will never accept being equals that way. Idk why they insist on having a close relationship when it’s never going to change. It’s also annoying how the girls back up her mom by saying well she’s your mom....it’s just all around unhealthy.

Don't belittle what Jeannie goes through and make excuses for her mom's behavior (if you follow Jeannie you know what I'm a talking about). Listen to her and you are her friend and what she goes through with her mom is not easy and I just looked at her at the end of the clip and could see how she felt dismissed and misunderstood as if she was doing something wrong and Loni excusing her mom's toxic behavior and saying that she is the girl and that's why her mom acts like that omg nooo! So wrong! Just bc she is her mom doesn't mean that she's always right and can't do no wrong, parents make mistakes too, so we shouldn't always excuse their actions towards us and I understand they are humans too but don't desmiss her experience. Love you Jeannie ❤️

Y’all ladies need to stop gaslighting Jeanie. She knows her relationship with her mother and she knows that her mother doesn’t respect her. ooh I've been keeping up with Jeannie and her mom and I think they had some great points at the end! Hope she gets some clarity on it. MOST and I know not all unfortunately, but I think most moms simply want the best for their kids. Especially the ones they feel closest to, or compare themselves with more, AKA their daughters! Jeannie I think Mamma Mia just sees all the growth and change in your life and although she's happy for you, she simply cares A LOT and wants what is best for you and is probably imposing more than usual amounts of her opinion onto you. Hang in there, she only wants whats best for you! Even if it feels critical, you're allowed to not follow her requests, but try and see the love and not just the fear in her actions. Give her some grace and see her love for you. ❤️❤️❤️ sorry for the novel love U Jeannie!

Self-awareness or surviving potentially deadly situations are the common advices these ladies received. I like the advice Mama Nilda gave Adrienne regarding Exits. That is pivotal to encountering mass shootings. Jeannie discussed this once about learning wherever her exits were for a quick escape. This is important, especially after we memorialize the deaths of those in the recent mass shooting in Boulder Co. And it is sad to even say "recent" as it is becoming more and more frequent. We recently came from 2 of these in 2019 and a series in 2017. Had Covid not happened, would there have been another in 2020? It is morbid and insensitive to think this. But it is sad to see that our safety is threatened daily. Going back to the topic, great afvice Mama Nilda. Hopefully would save a lot more people to know that.

People should treat each other with respect wether you’re the parents or the children, respect go both ways, well if you’re older you should know better, age just a number for me, old and young people can be immature, i only see characters, if you’re related by blood, you just have the upper hand to create bond with family, but if you treat your children or parents like Sh*t, human have a right to cut ties especially the victims in those dynamic, how do you expect someone to respect you when you have been toxic to them their whole life, Parents should not be excused by their toxic behavior to their children, same goes to Older people to young ones, Vice versa
