Yes I have a treat in my hand to keep the dogs in the video so people that don't have GP can see just how big they are.

No fence could stop my Great Pyrenees from breaking out , he would climb over , force his way under or push through , so powerful he was , needed it two or three times a day but despite that we never had loved a dog like him , yours are wonderful , to me they are the most wonderful of all dogs , with the Bernese Mountain Dog Enjoy them !

You need to train them with the electric fencing.

Thanks for the info.I use electric tape for my horses but I never could figure out how to use it with a hairy dog.I just thought it wouldn't work but the several wires oe tape close together might just work.

I found putting some soda cans on the wire attracts the dog/sheep/cow to the wire and when they go to touch it with their nose they get a zap. Seems to establish the fence line well. Thank you for all the tips!

we used a “rabbit fence” to keep ours in his yard. It took three nose encounters to convince him to stay away from it.

Oh my goodness, electrocuting those poor puppies, how cruel! I am sure that statement is in the minds of the bleeding hearts. I can see that this fellow's method of line placement for electric fencing is stellar. Pups can certainly wander and put themselves in all sorts of dangers. Good to see some good-old country engineering.

They act like they're just constantly going to the ele tric chair. It's to keep them safe also. They wander bad. Would the hippies rather get their dog hit by a car or get a zap as a warning to not to it again? Lol I think they just like to complain

My rule is I don’t subject my animals to anything I won’t test myself. I have shocked myself on various devices I’ve used. It’s not a big deal. Guess what, just like me, the dogs don’t continue touching it.
@Social_Infidel
@Social_Infidel Жыл бұрын
@@nickcarroll8565 Yes, I touch mine all the time to make sure it is working. As you say, "no big deal". Besides, current day electric fence systems use a 1 second pulsating delay which reduces the likely hood that a smaller animal will succumb to it.

I had 2. A Father and Son relationship. Wonder in the yard one day and stayed. No one claimed them. The Father was standard at about 145 Lbs. The Son appeared to be a throwback in the Gene pool and got much taller and much longer, 195 Lbs. They were a working team. Like Telepathy spooky between the 2. Thes boys are not meant to be in the city on a lot. They bark as a warning to predators. They need room to run and work. They are Nocturnal and rest during the day. There is also NO SUCH THING as petting them too much. If you stop, a big Paw is put on your leg to encourage you to continue. Unfortunately, they are subject to Hip disease and after 11 years, I had to put them down within 8 months of each other. Broke me. A year later I rehomed one. Previous owner did not do him right and it took me close to a year to fully gain his trust. Give them room to run and I must say, a Leash is not in their DNA.

I happened across your channel today. We have been trying to come up with a fencing solution that won’t cost thousands but will keep our Great Pyrenees safe. We have a large area to fence, about 2500 feet of fencing. We live on 10 acres, part of it wooded and in a canyon and that will be outside the fence. We could fence a smaller area, however our granddaughter and family live on the property also. We live up on the hill and they live at the bottom. We want to include both properties. They have daughters, ages 7 and 4, and we would want them to be within the dog fence. They lost their “pet” chickens to a fox all in one afternoon. The chickens were free range and cooped at night. We would also like to have a few chickens. Would we need two dogs? Is it better to get two puppies for companionship? Y the way, your dogs are beautiful.

Yes Great Pyrenees always do better with two. Most of my puppies, the ones that go to the country go home with two. Thank you, my dog are great I have 3 now we rescued one last month.

I used in ground extreme dog fence. The key is the training, and Using long prongs. We fenced in about 6 acres. I think it cost around 375 and we did the labor. By the Grace of God we have had great success with this method for about 2 years now.

@@laydenhollowhomestead hello! We are going to take your advice and try this method for fencing. We are still a bit unclear as to how to do this, can you please summarize again? Sorry, just want to get it right, we have two Houdini’s. Thank you so much!

@@tamaracpoole7719 Start with a ground wire 5"-6" off the ground, then 10" up run a hot wire, then another ground wire 10" or so up then another hot wire 10" or so up. One more hot wire 4 ' or so whatever height you need. These measurements are progressive from the wire below. Once your dogs know what your electric fence is they won't go close to it. My dogs won't go close to the fence even when its turned off .

Great question, we have 50 acres had a consultation for the fencing never got around to getting it done. Our Great Pyrenees puppy passed away at 6.5 months, as per ER Vet caused was due to either ticks/botulism the pain and guilt I feel can’t be described. Please have controlled enclosed area for your dog to roam. Biggest regret is not doing it sooner for our puppy!! 😢 😭

I have zero fencing. only for the sheep handling system. the dogs range afield but they do come around daily. it's their duty and their freedom. I won't change it. I'm looking to buy a female pup from you next month. ann is looking after it. I have travis. looks like logan. 100% duty dog from 10 weeks old - bonded to the sheep right from the start. sleeps with them, protects them. he's from cape Breton mom, jolly farmer dad... his two sons barney and freddy are backing up.. travis is king of the hill...will ye sell me a female pup? mid feb 2023 we're in n.b. thanks. with respect...

Why are you holding treats for your dogs in your hand & not giving your dog treats to your beautiful dogs? You are teasing them to keep them close.. 😥 But you dont show you giving them the treats at all. They deserve the treats ❤ 💞🐕💞🐕💞
