It'a so nice to a fellow female Latina in the field of science! I'm thinking of pursuing CLS, but I always doubt myself and if I'm smart enough to enter this field. Your videos have definitely helped me gain confidence, thank you so much!

Hi Anissa, we have an interesting and challenging journey as there are not many Latina's in STEM. Just know that we are a small but strong community and you have support. I am glad my videos have helped to give you the confidence to know that you can succeed and follow your dreams. That was the purpose of me starting my channel. I wanted to show fellow minorities that though we may have a different/more difficult journey, everything in life is possible if you work hard for it. Best of luck to you and feel free to message me if you ever need anything!

Very interesting! I had a different experience: school (the internship portion) sucked because I was paying money to effectively work and be an intern while still having homework and studying requirements. Conversely, upon graduation, no studying nor homework and I got paid to do the same work obviously.
@RosaPerez2 жыл бұрын
I do agree with that. Not getting paid sucked but I just enjoyed the structure a little more. I like your channel! it's quite informative, keep it up!

I'm thinking of being a histology technician, not the exact same as a MLT but similar so this did help me somewhat lol. I'm the same way as you, I like having a life outside work and I'm not eager to work my life away, I just need to pay my bills. Since I don't have a dream job or passion I just need something practical and I have anxiety so the routine may help. Ahh man figuring out what to do with you life career wise is so hard

You mentioned that in a job you had to do things that the nurses were supposed to do. What exactly where the extra tasks? Thanks for these videos, by the way. Extremely helpful.

Could you possibly do a short video on fashion tips for this profession? I’m not sure if MLS dress business casual or just stick to scrubs haha, especially being in a lab coat all day!
@RosaPerez2 жыл бұрын
it depends on the lab. at the hospital we were required to wear scrubs but at the research lab i would wear a nike crew neck and jeans lol it just depends on the job tbh

I work as a medical lab scientist in Hospital for almost 10 years.. if i could reverse time.. i would never take this course.. working in hospital is stressful and you spend most of your time in laboratory working night, day shift even on weekends...i’m currently studying programming.. i hope to be able to switch my career soon..

I wish my lab did this. They make us do 7 days in a row sometimes with only 2 days off after. The scheduling at my lab is torture for overnight shift
@RosaPerez2 жыл бұрын
How is that?? I don't think I could do it :(
@RosaPerez2 жыл бұрын
That sounds like such a rough schedule I'm sorry :(
@marymoore17122 жыл бұрын
@@RosaPerez oh I actually love it! My job is pretty easy really since I work at a biodiesel plant and its more like quality control type work. I loveee the weeks off! I use to think I wanted to do the mlt program but realized I love learning about it but wouldn't actually want it as my full time job I think
@michellegill45222 жыл бұрын
Same I work 7/70 as well, I really do love the schedule. I agree with you Rosa, MLT/MLS is not the same level of work as working corporate. So working 5 days on and 2 days off is not enough time off for real work/life balance

I see you uses to do pharmacy, which vibe do you like better. The pharmacy environment or the lab environment?
@RosaPerez11 ай бұрын
They both had their pros and cons. Personally, I think I liked the lab a little bit more because I was working more independently. The pharmacy I liked because there was more variety and everyday was a little bit different.

I did have several jobs and was in clubs during my undergraduate career. Though I was able to handle it all, I do not advise doing so. Take your time to actually study and do well in all your courses and on the ASCP Exam.

Hello would be possible to mention the book u used to pass MLT .THANKS
@NannoChii2 жыл бұрын
I used the “Bottom Line Approach”. Its a yellow and purple book called the Clinical Laboratory Science Review. It outlined things for me pretty’s decently and showed me what i needed to focus on to pass. I studied that for 6 months religiously and passed my first attempt. I also used LabCe to practice at least once a day if i could. Both the adaptive and non adaptive test selections.

@@RosaPerez sure np 😁 i also suggest focusing more on the bigger sections . I did poorly on the molecular portion and still did well overall 🥲. Didnt even study that part much lol. i focused on studying heme, blood bank, Chem and Micro. But it all depends on what youre strong and weak in. I used Labce to see what i was weak in and needed to study more.

I don't see how that should be an issue. most jobs cannot discriminate due to religious reasons.

Pharmacy doesn't hold a candle to MLS. Pharmacy is a sinking ship. MLS has a lot more opportunity and you can actually have a middle class life. Pharmacy pays minimum wage and the ceiling is even lower than MLS
