Calisthenics skills like planche are the displays of very specific strength - that cannot be gained through simple general training - this statement is absolutely true, yet due to wrong interpretation can lead us to much slower progress and lots of plateaus...
The principle of specificity - undoubtly one of if not the single most important concept in training - derives from the observation that the adaptation of the body is specific to the type of training undertaken. Generally speaking, I think we can all agree that no matter which discipline or type of training you choose, wether you’r a bodybuilder, weight lifter, cyclist or calisthenics athlete - you have to be specific to the goals you set. In strength training specificity creates the base for all the other principles by situating at the very bottom of the pyramid. So, no, the title of this video is not a clickbait. What if I told you this - most important concept, the base of all training and staple of sports success, might also be whats holding you back from making better calisthenics improvements? What if specificity is that inhibiting factor on your planche journey? Enjoy...

Although I agree with you on almost all skills, it seems (on youtube) that the guys who achieve planche where soo specific about their planche training, making it most of the time very skinny guys without much muscle with super strong tendons having planche. For things like frontlever, OAP, definately! Weighted pullups alone helped me achieve them
@FrinksmovementTV
@FrinksmovementTV 3 жыл бұрын
Hey! Thank you for sharing, yes i agree there are people like that. But i have to say important thing. It wont work for anybody. I mean, for most people just doing specific work won't be enough to achieve planche. Those who are very light, short or just genetically gifted - may achieve it with only "skill" work. For most tough its too difficult. However like i said, good observation.

planche pretty much doesn't carry over to anything else, except front raises. i personally found the only way to progress was to do planche work every single day. you can still have variation, but that might be why you see specialists; it's something you have to do constantly, so someone making progress on the planche is less likely to be spending much time doing other things
@FrinksmovementTV
@FrinksmovementTV 3 жыл бұрын
@@DevinDTV It is true but unfortunetelly most people wont be able to achieve planche by only training it specifically. It works for the minority rather. Speaking from anegdotal evidence only tough

Your channel needs to grow and FAST! Love this topic,I see too many athletes working on attempts and holds only (I did that mistake too),and I agree that its fun to work on but without good pulling and pushing strength and endurance you will get stuck in your training very often. For example,I couldnt get my full FL pullups until I STOPPED working on them and focused on explosive pulling and one arm pulls...so anyway good content!

Very good bro!! 😈💪🏽. After all, there would be no phase potentiation if we only trained very specific and in the strength rep range. Though strength is the goal, the other phases will build your pyramid in order to have the highest peak possible! And having such a large base ensures long term gains and "muscle memory" when coming back from injury or detraining.

Hi Frink! How to condition the distal bicep tendon for planche traning I've seen a lot of people tearing their bicep doing planche and your body won't even give you warning before it tears so is planche safe if yes then how to condition your bicep tendon, Thanks.

Spending a lot of time in the earlier progressions comes to mind. Connective tissue gets stronger far slower than muscles so maybe you should stay on the easier progression longer than you think you should. Maybe you can already hold Advanced Tuck for 20 or so but try keeping it light and stay on Tuck. Your muscles won't get as much of a stimulus but it helps tendons catch up and minimizes risk of injury. My two cents
