At the end of Battle for Azeroth we've seen that Sylvanas was insanely overpowered. However, as Shadowlands was announced and we saw the Shadowlands cinematic we could see that Sylvanas also just as easily overpowered Bolvar and destroyed the Lich King.
Then it was confirmed that she was working for the Jailer from the Maw, but only recently we actually learned when that happened.
We knew about the events from the Edge of Night story but now some details have been expanded upon. We've learned more about the purpose of the val'kyr, the purpose of the Lich King and why she even fought Bolvar in the first place to break the sky for the Shadowlands.

her lore doesn't make sense if she doesnt go againts the jailor. She was mad at the lich king for his doings, and prolly figured out that it was Jailers doing all this time, and now gathers power by the jailor til the day she can strike back.

Now that I think about it, it's possible that they're gonna pull the classic cliché, which would be sylvanas doing all this for the jailer because he promised her that if she brings him back to power he's gonna bring her sister/family back to life.

she has 2 important sisters, one works in dalaran. she is fine, the other charged towards the horde in the war againts human vs orcs, where she went through the portal. and in WoD we kinda see her again, where sylvanas tries to kill her sister so she may turn her into forsaken, in other words, all her carings are currently well and alive.

I would like to know how the Arbiter and the Jailor are connected. Especially their models. One has only an empty space where the heart should be and the Arbiter has only a heart. I think the betrayal is that the two beeings were once one and split up.

She's not out to join the jailer. She's out to rek the fool. 1.) Burn the world tree, set loose a bunch of souls. 2.) Shatter the helm, letting loose all of the souls absorbed by it over the years. 3.) The bridge between material realm and shadowlands can't handle all those souls at once and is shattered. 4.) All those able to cross the maw help to rek the jailer. GG, Sylvanis hard carry.

I only have one qualm with Blizzard's move towards exploring the other planes of existence... The titans are the top of the arcane plane so to speak. Their power is nearly absolute and as such, their involvement in the story is very much in the background as it should be. Sargeras is a good example of this as well. We've known that he was in control of the BL for decades but didn't see him directly until legion. So why is the death pantheon so up front and personal? NPCs you can speak to and get quests from? They should be in the sky somewhere, just observing and pulling the strings. The one's we should be able to interact with directly should be the equivalent of titan watchers at most, and that's a stretch. Hopefully the void lords aren't given such peasant treatment.

I tend to agree on that. ...Well okay some could say that the foreshadowing of The Jailer happend with WC3: The Frozen Throne and WOTLK ...but yes it's a bit strange that the expansion is not even out yet, but we already know so much about theese cosmic figures. ...To build on that, my personal complainment about the concept of the Shadowlands itself is that although the idea sounds really great, from what I saw in videos, it feels too much ...well ...living. ^^ ...I mean it doesn't look the "otherside" enough. It just looks like some other planet or planets. And there is the Revendreth video. ...That place is basically a normal state with a corrupt (and kinda fascist) ruler and an actual economy based on anima ...I mean WTF^^ Is that really the afterlife? For me it's too ...mundane. ...But we shall see.

Well, the thing is that it's not "everyone" that is going to the Shadowlands and will get in contact with these cosmic forces. It's just a select number of characters and the Players, a.k.a. "the adventurers", are some of them. Lorewise it's not an invasion of Alliance and Horde armies, it's just a small rescue mission to recover the faction leaders. Many other characters in the lore like Illidan, Gul'dan, Medivh or Velen as well as the "adventurers" already had direct contact with, or at least have aknoledgement of these forces like the Titans or Void Lords. The Naaru are literally everywhere these days. Wild Gods? There's not much we don't know about these other realms unless they create something we don't know that rules over the Burning Legion or the Naaru etc. About the Shadowlands, we know Sylvanas is there, and now Tyrande, Jaina, Baine, Anduin and Thrall as well. If you strech things a bit, you can see they each represent: Death, Shadow, Order, Life, Light and Chaos. I think Sylvanas' plan is to take over the shadowlands to free herself, and as a consequence, us all, not the Jailer. It wouldn't make sense for her to willingly become a puppet for the guy who was behind the Lich King all the way. For the story, I think Blizzard is working to set those characters into becoming the respective leaders of those planes of existence, or at least as their representatives on Azeroth. Maybe 6 factions for WC4?

@@darkseidofapokolips9796 yet you didn't get the point. We already have this power level to deal with Sargeras, we saw him put a sword in the world and get jailed by Illidan. Not every force of the chart is governed the same way, Chaos seem to be like a horde, Order is a council of elite beings, Light is a hivemind of Naaru, Life's got an animist pantheon, etc. You didn't get to see the Titans for a long time, but you had seen Naaru, Wild Gods, Old Gods etc for ages now. If you want to reset to being a mere mortal you start over at lvl 1.

It's kind of simple actually. Frostmourne is a sword thats imbued with the Maw. It corrupts souls. Sylvannas, or whats leftover of sylvannas , has been marked by frostmourne. Uther was also marked by the Maw when Arthas split his soul, but his Faith in the light saved him. If marked by frostmourne, the sword of the jailer, you have a direct link to the maw and are at risk for being corrupted

My theory is that she wanted arthas down and realized he was not the source, and now butters up to jailer to take revenge. Afterall she knows that her time and forsakens time is up with how valkyers are getting used.

She is clever, she has been death, a ghost, a banshee, to the maw, resurrected, gained immense power, killed Bolvar, Destroyed the lich king, opened the shadowlands, now she partnered with the jailer, because she knows, he his the mastermind behind her death and he is more powerful than her, so at the end of shadowlands, she might actually kill him and absorb his powers? So she becomes incredibly powerful and i think her grand plan is somehow to be able to ascend to be some of the most powerful in wow or possible even, to discover a way, she can return as a normal elf once again??!?!? who knows.

Sylvanas is good she found way to beat jailer but she needs to first do stuff for him, she will never be servant just because she want's after everthing. But she needs power to fight jailer and to dethrone him.

I honestly feel like she is pulling what Illidan had done except to a more personal level. If the Jailer is the one who created the Lich, then she owes the Jailer her vengeance truly rather than Arthas. This information makes Arthas a pawn in the game where her true punishment came from the Jailer. Her only hope is to not only gain power using the same tactic the Jailer is using, but also to have others fight him within the Shadowlands. Ultimately, the other realms would obviously band together against him and I think she knows that would be her best chance at finally getting her vengeance against the true orchestrator of her suffering.

Something doesn’t make sense... Jailer: Trapped in the Shadowlands by the Helm of Domination? If he was behind the making of the helm with the dread lords, why would he trap himself? Why would he need someone else to break it to rift between Azeroth? Did the dread lords trick him and imprison him and the Helm was the key? If he was tricked and imprisoned by the dread lords, how did he have so much influence over the Lich King? Why did they trick him / imprison him if so? If he wasn’t imprisoned at all, why did he need Sylvanas at all? Why did the Helm of Domination need to be broken at all? I feel the Helm was made to trap the Jailer. I feel the Lich Kings duty wasn’t only to control the scourge but to also keep Shadowlands at bay.

The Helm of Domination wasn't what Imprisoned the Jailor...the helm was key to weaken the veil between the realm of souls and the physical realm, neither of the "Lich Kings" did what the Jailor intended them to do because both Arthas and Bolvar held on, Bolvar a little more than Arthas but still Arthas denied the Jailor what he wanted, thus why he cut out his heart trying to remove that spark of Arthas that remained. The Pantheon of Death is who imprisoned the Jailor

N’Zoth said only he can save Azeroth, Sargeras said the only way to save the universe was to destroy it. What villains don’t try to lionize themselves? Just because she said she wants to “set us all free” doesn’t means she’s working for the greater good. You might want to start taking Pyromancer, and Accolonn with a grain of salt.

Nerzhul was imprisoned by KJ. KJ “created” him more like “nominated “. It was never stated that KJ created frostmourne or the helm. As for Jailer being mentioned, the dark lord of the dead is being mentioned a couple of times since w3 ( hard to believe that demons like the dreadlords would call an imprisoned orc the dark lord of the dead )

After cataclysm a lot of stuff for her has been completely out of character. I hope they do some kind of redemption because she has never been straight up evil until recently. She has never made hasty decisions until recently. So I'm hoping maybe they tie it in to her trying to eliminate the jailer but I don't see that is happening

The Legion created the Lich King, and the Scourge as a tool to weak Azeroth. But the Helm of Domination and its magic is from the Maw

@@simpleman3898 You'll have to tune down the anime bullshit to make it feel like Warcraft, but it could work. Something akin to Netflix's Castlevania maybe. Make it feel like the in-game cutscenes and we're good. (Of course a full CG movie in the vein of their intro cinematics would be gold, but it's probably asking for too much.)

I disagree with you about the plot twist. If anything that plot twist would make more sense imo. Cause having Slyvanas turn into this big bad evil character that supports the jailor to me doesn't make sense unless the jailor has twisted her views into his ways. It doesn't fit her personality and having her stay evil just turns the story into a generic Disney 'good vs evil' story trope. Her story at the end of ice crown still makes the most sense to me although I don't think she deserved the maw in the afterlife.

I can't believe that there are so many people that don't see what BlizzActivision are doing it. Sylvanas will have the same arc as Kerrigan in Starcraft. It's obvious! Real Blizzard is gone and they were not that George RR Martin level of foreshadowing in the first place to plan this. There was no master plan, only make up as they go. I really can't believe there are still fans that don't see this and that they feel amazed at what Blizzard/Activision story is doing...

Horrible, horrible storyline for Sylvanas and the Lich King. I mean, the tons of retcons done to fit this Jailor into the whole Lich king lore is just pathetic. And what Blizz did to Sylvanas is just unforgivable.

They aren't retcons, its new information and more details on events that were poorly described and poorly executed. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean its bad or a retcon. YOU just don't like it because of personal feelings and that's perfectly fine

What they did to Sylvanas? Sylvanas has ever been evil since Arthas turned her. Just she was useful evil as she was able to do what no other horde leader dared due to their living moral and ethics.

In fact rewatching shadowlands cinematic we can see that when sylvanas is talking about the crown is watching the gem on it and not Bolvar, as she was speaking with another entity. The fact that the helm seems of the jailer in first place (checking the shadows behind sylvanas in shadowlands trailer) make me think that what helm sees is seen by jailer too. The last words of sylvanas are: this world is a prison. And how is called the main villan of shadowlands? Jailer. Another point is that from collector edition we know that he want the crown intact meanwhile she brake it. Other than this wich reason could be in jailer favor to open a portar where the greatest heros of azeroth can go through to kick his ass? I think that sylvanas is playing as double agent from the end pf wotlk

Those stories that Blizzard keeps coming up with are total trash. Stretched too thin, lack of depth and gravity to them. They've butchered many of the warcraft characters this way. It was such an enjoyment to play this game years back.

I’m very cautious where this is going. While I’m looking forward to see Shadowlands and the natives living there. However, I’m concerned with the story especially Sylvanas. I find her irredeemable especially what’s been happening with the innocent souls going straight to the Maw. I hope we get to kill her or receive any kind of punishment. But knowing Blizzard, I’m afraid that won’t be the case.
