You would not remember this, but back in the 1980's it was said that knitting was a dying art, and that young people weren't interested. Knitting was thought to be old fashioned and a waste of time. Not so! A whole new generation of young knitters like yourself have revived the art in a big way. I'd also like to say that I am a very experienced knitter who began knitting at age 10. I'm in my late 60's now, yet I find there is always something to learn from someone, regardless of their age. I've now learned cable cast off from you. Great job!

Love love love. I always use cable cast-on and, until now, been sad about bindoff that doesn’t match. Thank you.

One small suggestion for the cable cast off: Cast off using a needle one size larger than the needle you used to knit with. For instance - if you used size 8 needles, use a size 9 for the bind off. A single double pointed needles is good for this. Sometimes people tend to bind off tightly, so this is a good way to keep that from happening.

You're twisting the stitch as you place it back on the left needle. All the other instructors have the stitch go back on the needle straight. When I was learning this, I did it your way at first, then "corrected" it to the other. In the end, I thing they looked the same, but perhaps they perform differently.

For what types of projects would you choose this cast on rather than say a long tail?

Cassie D'Ambrosio I use this cast on for edging on the bottom of sweaters (works perfect for a cocoon sweater). However I wouldn't use it for blankets cause I like my edging to look uniform and I don't really like the way the cable cast off looks , but this the closest cast off I've seen for a cable cast off.

Thank you :) what do I do with my last stitch LOL ?
@thatrezchick78736 жыл бұрын
BoB the Budgie what do you mean by last stitch? The last stitch in the cast on or off? The last stitch of the cast on will be tight and very close to the one before it, you can either knit the last stitch as normal but make sure when your doing that last cast of loose, you can slip the stitch (I usually slip it then purl the next and knit the rest of my stitches) or you can knit the last two together, just make sure you cast on your last stitch loose so you can easily put you needle in.

No I think they're talking about the very last stitch of the cast off because I'm wondering the same.

Why do a cast off video and not show the end of the row? That's literally what I was watching this for 😔

Too much chatter. And the instructor has awful diction. Proper diction and a well modulated voice would make listening easier. But, the instructions were clear and helpful.

Cast on, BIND off. Try the Icelandic bind-off to go with cable cast-on, you might like it!

I think it is awesome that you knit. Who says that knitting is strictly for women? I know a male math professor who knits beautifully. History shows that fishermen use to knit their own sweaters in Ireland and other countries to keep them warm while they were out in the ocean.
