Tendons take a long time to heal back to prime (6+ months). Most situations do not (even with complete rupture) require surgery. From Mayo Clinic: "recent studies indicate favorable outcomes in people treated nonsurgically if they start rehabilitation with weight bearing early". A lot of studies are going on, because it does seem to rehabilitate you do need to stress it quite a bit. That said, they usually don't rupture unless there is an abuse of NSAIDs or steroids. Muscle tear, sure. Tendons? Not so much. Other cases are extreme chronic stress (3-4 years in a warzone), trying a world record on your third training session, or tendon deterioration caused by severe abuse for months (tendonitis, which is usually so painful that to happen, it's symptoms are usually masked by NSAID or steroid use, because otherwise the person would back off a little). Most tendon ruptures have a story behind them. It doesn't "just happen" as a result of regular training or physical activity.

If you can move the muscle at all stay away from those butchers. Get red light bulb and keep it immobile a couple weeks, 6 months later you will be OK.

@@jamescrm83 all well. Hiking as a gamewarden and weight training 2 months after surgery. Legs that is, no interruption for upper body. Now back to pushing it again. Dl 5x112kg, sq 5x111kgx3. 49yrs, 178cm, 84kg. Not super strong, but almost back to where I was before the tear and progressing. Good luck!

How about in the case of Carpal Tunnel? I've had no surgery and waiting for it to heal in a splint. Should I be stretching at all?
