That's awesome! After you make this you can tweak it to match the flavor profile you like. I always change a little something till I find the perfect blend. This has a more smoky flavor because of the cumin and chili powder. I know out people would like more brown sugar and less cumin and chili powder to give it more of a sweet flavor. Glad you liked the video and hope it goes well for ya!

So, to help everyone ... here is Nick's recipe ... 4 TBS Salt --> not sure if it is Table Salt or Kosher Salt ... @@Nicks-BBQ DO you think you could come up with a BBQ flavored seasoning like is similar to what's on BBQ chips? I want it to put on Popcorn, but you know waaaaay more than I do about spices, and what combinations would create the flavor we're looking for. 😋 I'm sorry, I really AM that ignorant about this stuff. 😔

@@HRHBoof your all good bro! Ask as many questions as you want I like answering them. I'm not sure actually what kind of bbq seasoning would be good on chips. I would look online and see if they sell anything in a bottle you could use at home. I know for those chips they're highly processed and probably more chemicals than actual spices lolol

Very nice rub mix! I would say nix the salt, just because salting should be a separate action. That way you can salt correctly and add as little or as much spices as your heart desires :)
@Nicks-BBQ

That is actually really solid advice. I can definitely agree. I wonder why some rubs you buy in the store have salt in them? I wonder if the salt acts not as I preservative than for flavor enhancement? I'll have to research this to learn more!

@@Nicks-BBQ That part is simple, of all things that go into commercial rubs, salt is by far the cheapest and takes up a fair amount of space in the bottle. If you look at the label, salt is usually the first thing listed.

@@Nicks-BBQ Hey, also, you could make a video about how you Prep to get the unit ready and then how you clean it up. Because, I have a system that I developed, and it sure makes cooking much easier. If you make a video, do it in two parts. Like show how the unit is turned-off, then walk us through your prep it to cook. Then, once it is finished cooking, show us what you do afterwards.

Thanks for the feedback. Do you think it is? Traditional Texas BBQ is just salt and pepper. That is 50 percent salt and 50 percent pepper. Or some do 2 parts pepper one part salt. I think it comes down to how heavy you coat something. Have you ever smoked a brisket or pork butt? I put a lot of salt on them and don't think its too salty.
