I have never found aluminum yokes either until this week. I took 120 lbs. of yokes to a scrap yard to sell. The first thing the employee did was scratch a bell with a file. It was aluminum underneath. I was shocked! I had him scratch another and it was aluminum too. I had never had this problem before so I'm going to go through all the scrap and check for aluminum. I hope there's not too much.

One way I use to get the glue off the copper on those black grafite thing is my wire brush wheel, I leave it on and don't break it until after I wire brush wheel all the glue off, then break the black grafite, making sure I can sweep it up, those shards are sharp, you don't want it on the ground in your yard . I do lawnmower repair ('81 to '95 I was SNAPPER dealer) so I always have a coarse grinding wheel/wire brush wheel table grinder to sharpen mower blades, drill bits, axes, and keep my chisels and punches in sharp working order. I want to warn you there is some steel wire in televisions. I burn the. plastic off my copper wire and ever time I cut wire out of t.v. the steel wire gets mixed in so I don't cut any of it out. Also I have never seen aluminium core copper coated wire on the picture tube bells. I even do the projecton tv ones, they have lots of magnifying glasses in them and when the colors seperate its because the reflector mirror warps, they use three projecters with three color combinations to make the picture. Also no.2 copper is currently $3.63 lb in eaatern NC. They changed rules for no.1, it has to be shiney, green or brown is no.2. also Yellow Brass is $2. Some friends of mine sold some discarded Shrimp trawler propellers they found in woods they were cleaning up,they were over 1 ft wide, very heavy solid Brass! The Pamlico Sound not far from where I live has shrimp, fish and oyster, they live on those big trawlers for sometimes a week. I hate to have to tear up those old TV's, the digital channel boxes should not cost so much, I have recycled many old analog TV's that had pretty color picture, for the cost of a channel box you can buy a digital television. I hate waste, repurpose, reuse, recycle! Lilley Recycling loves your videos, better to recycle it now because it will cost a lot to dig it up and recycle it later!

Done lots of yokes over the years. Many people don't realize there is a major potential shock hazzard in taking them out of TVs/monitors. The Flyback transformer can hold enough juice in it to kill if it hasn't been discharged either manually or over time. The electrolytic capacitors in the power supply section hold even more of a charge.
