Good instruction video. A tale of what happened to me: there is a 28mm filter like strip on top of each filter [that is designed to distribute the water into the main filter so I'm told] and during a strong wind day this was blown off the top of the main filter on the north side of our unit so with the unit running water was blown and sucked into the chamber and eventually leaked onto the plaster ceiling of the room below damaging it. On buying a set of new filters I used the old pins to poke through the this piece into the main filter thus preventing this happening again.

If you want it done right learn and do it yourself, DYI! Too many Techs in the States don't know or are too lazy to do it right! I have one pad in the front which the air is drawn through, very simple. Fresh air through a perfect wet media pad to filter the sand/dust! Air conditioning circulates stale air! But swamp coolers only work in dry air here in the U.S.A. desert southwest

The pads and air output are actually warmed up by the continually flow of relatively hotter water that circulates from the water pump. So by stopping the water pumping for very short periods of time, then the pads will become much colder and make the air output colder. Use a Repeat-Cycle-Timer to cycle the water pump on and off, for maybe 1 min on, and then 3 or 4 min off. The air output becomes colder, and energy is saved.

How would you install this? Connect it to the pump?

too easy... thanks! Yeah... got quoted $400 for new pads from installer + $200 to come and install. Got them new delivered for $220 including freight.

Installed them last night in ~ 30 mins including using high pressure water cleaner on the holder. New plastic clips are good as the old ones had rusted nuts with I ended up just cutting them off. After installing (other ones were 13!!!! years old) the air smells better and they cool a lot better. I will be doing this again in 3-4 years... not in 13 like the original ones. The entire unit was scrubbed inside and out and looked as good as the day it was installed.

No. Ive just bought new pads and had to buy pins and washers separately. Surprising how expensive the pins and washers were. Set of 4 pads $280 plus 16 pins and washers $26. In Adelaide

So i just inherited a breezair with new home purchase, and without knowing this is a top end swamp cooler, i was informed to change the filters, so i did... with basic dura cool pads from Home Depot. I have already tossed the Chillcel and installed the new ones. Will these work for now, or will it damage the cooler?
