I'm so happy I found this. Thank you for the simple way to make chains. I didn't want to use real metal ones unless I had to. Looking forward to supporting another artist.

For those in the USA, those ball tools are also available at Michaels and Hobby Lobby, probably for cheaper than Greenstuff World and without international shipping.

Great video! That’s exactly what I was looking for. The flat chains would be great for Black Templars. How would you get those chains from the base? I mean without destroying them. Would a completely flat surface work better?
@JuanHidalgoMiniatures
@JuanHidalgoMiniatures 4 жыл бұрын
I would personally sculpt them over the surface I wanted them to be. But they can be lifted off super easily once fully cured, they will just pop off and yes a flat surface is better, I use bases because they look great on camera
@NotMyGoogleID
@NotMyGoogleID 4 жыл бұрын
Great tutorial as always. Will look neat on WE/BT wrists if you can make them small enough. BTW, really hoping for a contrast tutorial/tips on large flat surface (like on dreadnought or something; I doubt it can be done on larger vehicle) if possible
@JuanHidalgoMiniatures

One more question: how would you glue this on a model? Plastic glue or super glue? Thanks!
@JuanHidalgoMiniatures

If you want to glue them, superglue. Plastics glue won't do anything on Greenstuff

Great video! I've been using jb weld instead of green stuff since it's so cheap in comparison, but super difficult to do anything with any details.
@JuanHidalgoMiniatures
@JuanHidalgoMiniatures 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, there is a reason why sculpting putties exist. You can use the cheap stuff to bulk out the main shapes but I highly recommend getting some good quality sculpting putty, it doesn't have to be GS, there are a lot of good putties like Apoxie, Milliput, etc. Each have their own properties and way to work with of course.

Fantastic video (as always)! Super excited to see more sculpting tutorials. What brand of green stuff are you using for these? I like that it's in two separate containers, as opposed to the strips that most manufacturers seem to use.
@JuanHidalgoMiniatures
@JuanHidalgoMiniatures 4 жыл бұрын
All Greenstuff is manufactured by the same company, Sylmasta. The commercial name is Kneadatite Blue-Yellow and its then re-branded for all the different re-sellers. Buy the cheapest you can find in separate sticks. I get mine from Greenstuff World but again, they are all the same product. Just avoid anything that looks suspiciously Asian as I'm sure somewhere in China, someone is making bootleg Greenstuff for sure

when i mix greenstuff, i always end up with small hard bits in the mix, how do i get rid off it?
@JuanHidalgoMiniatures
@JuanHidalgoMiniatures 4 жыл бұрын
You have to take the middle bit away, where both colours touch. That part is already cured and unusable. My recommendation is to buy Greenstuff that comes with both colours separated

Note to anyone making this: if your chain is for a medieval use then dont worry if each link on the chain isnt uniform becuase in medieval times, someone would have actually made each link by hand so real medieval chains wouldn't have been perfect.👍🏻
