DISCLAIMER:
I have a feeling I'm going to get some hate because of a few things I said; Some things came across as a little harsh. I feel in some parts, I might seem a little snobby or stuck up concerning some of my tips. I, IN NOW WAY, THINK I AM BETTER THAN ANYONE ON BOOKTUBE.
Personally, I am so anal when it comes to editing and quality of videos. There are a lot of older movies and tv shows I can't watch because the graphics/quality bothers me. That just has always been an issue with me, and I'm not saying your channel is shit if you use a webcam, I just prefer videos with really good quality.
I also kind of sound like a bitch when talking about "spamming". It is just another huge pet peeve of mine when people tell me to subscribe to them. I've asked a bunch of other booktubers like myself, and they all agree it's extremely bothersome and definitely makes them not want to look at your channel. I don't think I'm super-high-and-mighty-I'm-better-than-you-my-channel-is-better-i-have-more-subscribers, I just don't like being asked to look at your channel.
I do really hope these tips helped you, and please leave your thoughts below, but before you leave any hate, please keep in mind the things I just said. Happy Booktubing :)

Hey Charlie, If you are still thinking about starting a channel, you should take the leap and just do it! You'll find out as you go along whether its something you enjoy doing or not. I've also been wanting to start vlogging for absolutely ages but not had the courage to do it, but decided to take the leap this year and so far am having so much fun! Good luck!

Emma , I rembered when you uploaded this video. Back then I wanted to start a youtube channel but I was scared after a lot of thinking, I did recently (yeah, it's very a very small channel). Now I came here to say thank you, because you are advices were helpful and truthful. Also if someone is afraid like I was, I want to say to you that booktube is a very welcoming part of youtube.

Extremely nervous but do wish to give this a try. I was also one of the ones who became recently curious about how to start a booktube channel and found you at the top of my list. Though this is a old video, you're still helping a lot of people who may or may not be fresh to this community and wanting to also share their views, even it's to make book searching a little easier. ❤

Thanks for the tips! As a newer youtuber/sometimes booktuber I sometimes get really discouraged about no one viewing or commenting on my channel. But videos like these motivate me to keep going! I agree with you that spam comments are annoying. I feel like the best way to get noticed, as you said, is to just comment on people's videos with your opinions on something they said in the video. Even if they don't notice, sometimes their viewers will and go check out your channel!

This was an awesome video. Thanks for the tips. I keep debating on starting one, but I am very anxious on camera and I have a hard time expressing emotions so I need to work on that. I love the no self promoting tip, that always bugged me in every medium when people use it purely to share their stuff and don't take into consideration that other people like conversation too.

Thanks for all the advice Emma it's really helpful, not rude at all. It's great to see 'bigger' booktubers wanting to help out the smaller ones. I think those that make fun of other people do so because they know they don't have what it takes to do it themselves. They are jealous and are just trying to make sure you don't have what they feel they can't have. Don't let them win. Do it anyway. Do it afraid if you have to, but do it. Don't let them keep you from something that you want to do. Have a blessed week.

I am so glad I found your video!!! I just started my channel (literally a few hours ago and I'm freaking out) after like 3 years of silently stalking, uh I mean watching booktubers! lol really good video, very informative and I love how comfortable you are in front of the camera. Will definitely be checking out all your other videos!

Great advice. Thanks. Love your tips, all really helpful (and enthusiastically delivered!) and some stuff on there that I hadn't started thinking about as a new youtuber. Lighting is such a challenge for me. One of these days i'm going to get myself some amazing lightboxes...
