In this video I take two brand new rifles from Howa on the range. The 300 PRC and the Super Lite from Howa are nice rifle and fun to shoot.

Thanks for the video mate was about to pull the trigger on one. Curious to know how your replacement stock for the 300PRC was? And was that one of the aftermarket standalone stocks you can buy for the M1500 or was it from factory?

Hey thanks. The rifle is offered along with the Howa, they are stockys stocks. They are good rifle but could need some work, other guys have had good success with theirs, others not.

The super lite looks like a great option. I like the trend of light weight rifles some companies are going toward. I just wish they would have done a 22" barrel. However I know that everything is a compromise when weight is involved. Hornady superformance may be interesting to try for the short barrel.

Going from a 20inch barrel to 22inch would only give you another 30fps. I guess they wanted it the lightest rifle on the market. It's cool, but has some uncool things. Also hard to shoot well

@@hardantlerhunting9691 I've never done any chronograph work with the 6.5 creedmoor. 30 fps isn't worth the extra length. Great video

How do you rate the vixen 4-16 compared to other scopes you've owned? Looking at the vx3 4.5-14 but the vixens have an attractive price point and are light weight.

Hey, I sold my VX5 and Burris Signature and kept these. The V1 is a basic scope but does what it should. I haven't dialed with it yet as I cant get the 6.5cm shooting well enough. The V3 2.5-15x50 Vixen is a nice scope and puts up with my 300PRC recoil at 41ft-lbs well. My only Neg is the reticle sub tensions can be off around 1/2 an inch or so when parallax is set correctly so if you shooting groups you need to make sure eye alignment is bang on. As for clarity and tracking...flawless and lovely. The Illumination is great as well, the turrets are pop up for reset and feel precise. Good scopes for the money.

Have you tried RL16 in the Creedmoor? I have had fantastic results in my 3 Creedmoors with 143 ELD-X and 140 RDF with 42-43.3 gr dependent on the rifle. super temperature insensitive and I have always had great SD/ES.

Nope, I have RL17 and RL26. What sort of speeds?

Huge fan of RL 16 here! My target load was 140 gr ELD with 41.5 grains of RL16. This was in Peterson small rifle primer brass through my 26” heavy barrel howa. Velocity was 2804 fps with an SD of 1.9 fps. I think a lot of the velocity was with the brass too though because in Hornady brass this same load was 30-40 fps slower.

@andrewcleveland wow. I'm using starline and find it average but better than hornady. Neck turning the starline from factory is a must as it's not concentric at all.

@@hardantlerhunting9691 I’ve never used starline myself. One of my brothers has had pretty good luck with it though. I highly recommend trying the Peterson brass if you can get it. My first batch I bought had 28 reloads on it. I never lost a piece to stretched primer pockets. Now this was the 6.5 CM small primer brass I used. I have not tried the large rifle primer pocket brass they make. I used Cci small rifle magnum primers in mine. I also annealed the necks every loading. The Peterson is very thick brass, and does have less capacity than other brass in my findings. I do believe that helps with velocity with smaller charge weights in my opinion. I need to get some of Peterson belted mag basic brass to form into 416 Taylor improved brass.
