This one's a high point of the series for me. The Gale level worked for me (she was previously established as a NYer, so I don't get claims that she was shoehorned in). Totally agreed with the sensationalism overload. I’d also like to point out the film has the reverse problem of the Craven films, where in the Craven films the main killers of each film are weaker and clumsier in costume but all badass and menacing post-reveal (except Roman), here the killers are ruthless in costume, the best we’ve ever seen actually, but very flat after the reveal. It’s the post-reveal performance that really matters for each Ghostface because they show you the true human villainy of each killer and they all unsettle you each in their own way, which this film and Scream 5 have both failed to capture 😞

As for this video - I loved Scream VI, it was so thrilling and fun to watch. I can definitely see that certain things they were doing in as pandering to the fan ideas you were speaking on and honestly I was very excited to see that especially as they didn’t necessarily do it in the way that people would have wanted them to or expected them to so it really subverted expectations for me. Of course it depends on the perspective of the viewer; I loved all the new things and changes and references but I can see how maybe it looked like it lacked authentic substance. Thank you for getting something up so fast so we can all vent our feelings and chat. I, too, was hoping for a movie that would stump me on the killer and motive, but the foreshadowing was so heavy handed that it was clear from the first act. With that said, though, the thing that makes this movie stellar is the return to the theme of family. As a Scream fan who isn’t really into other horror, that meant a lot to me. Yeah, the fan service did feel more like pandering, but the bonding and character development of the Core Four definitely outweighed all that. And I was happy for the long run time in order to get those moments. And so, like others have been saying, I wonder how the casual Scream fan or the hard core horror geeks will view this entry.

It definitely had some plot holes, and my husband was distracted by the way they switched between day and night mid scenes it felt like. I agree that they played it safe on who they actually killed. Not that I “wanted” any of the characters that survived to have died. I thought the opening was awesome! I thought they did a great job with the characters and the suspense, and am glad that Sidney is out in the world somewhere happy with her husband and children.

I went to the fan event near me and then watched it with a group of friends last night. I enjoyed it both times and even more so the second time around. I loved how much more insight we got into Sam’s mental health. She isn’t just an upset person with ties to Woodsboro. She is genuinely struggling with wanting to get better and deal with what happened to her. I appreciated the little things that made the movie more relatable. Tara not wanting to acknowledge what happened to her and kind of spiraling and putting herself in scary situations like the frat party is something that can happen when someone experiences a traumatic event. The suspense was amazing. I genuinely kept catching myself gripping the popcorn or soda waiting for ghostface to strike. I will say the moments after the reveal weren’t the best. However I can see people hyping up a certain GF.

*spoilers* I felt like they fell into similar issues in the previous movies. Ethan kinda just felt like Charlie again. I mean I instantly had him pegged as suspect one. It just didn't feel like it was the right call. And Quinn kinda felt like Mickey. Disappears for half the movie and appears at the end as the killer. Had her pegged too. I also suspected Danny who really didn't do anything. I was conflicted on Tara for a bit too. They kept rubbing in the whole thing with Sam going mad from her trauma in V. And I thought maybe Tara was the one who lost it. Also the whole "The OG four can't be suspects" thing. The knives being absent I thought was her. The only thing that kept me from locking her in as a suspect is that Jenna Ortega is way too short and petite to be as tall as Ghostface is.

Food for thought, The reason I feel so highly about 6 is the fact that it’s the first time since 2 we’ve had a sequel that has sat really well from the previous. If you think of the gaps between 2 & 3, 3 & 4 and 4 & 5. This is why it’s so clever. I’m not gonna say I guessed they reveal, because in all honesty I didn’t really care at that point. The motive was basically 2 recycled but not sure if it’s even important. The journey I was absolutely there for.

Overall I liked it. Definitely different feel from the previous film. Sam & Tara were definitely the strong point of this movie. Loved their characters. I just worry how they can move forward with this particular storyline & future motives etc.. I think the next movie should introduce many new characters to keep the murder mystery element alive. Keep you guessing. I felt like they tried to divert your attention away from trying figure who the killer/killers are with an overly emotional character development side, unfortunately when the reveal happens it comes across so diluted that it loses its exciting feel. Sam & Tara luckily do carry the film across the finish line the last 15 mins. Your pros & cons are pretty spot on to what my thoughts are. In the end, it’s worth a watch.

On my first impression I can say, I was genuinely surprised that Scream VI was able to exceed my expectation and not be letdown like Scream 5 was! I can already safely say that I enjoyed Scream VI significantly more than Scream 5 (my opinion of that movie hasn't changed even on multiple watches). I agree with pretty much everything you brought up in this video! On the characters side, I've come around Sam and Tara (because I didn't care about either of them in Scream 5). Also, Mason Gooding was fun to watch. Mindy can just go away, still annoying though (but that goes with what you said, her being "consistent", it just doesn't work for me). The handling of the final reveal was a little bit "been there, done that" though.

For me i think this movie is the one who cares the least about making any sense. The fake death is just there for the viewer,as it doesnt make any sense for her to infiltrate the group only to fake her death, like not meeting them in the first place would accomplish the same, and they dont really care to explain about why the police didnt make an autopsy or why they dont care about the father of the last killer being in charge of the investigation. Also,i like the idea of the victims defending themselves, but its just stupid the ammount of times they punch ghostface and then run in panic while he is on the floor when the most obvious thing would be for them to keep hitting him. Also is there any reason for Ethan to help Mindy after his sister stabbed her other than trying to deceive the viewer? Once you know the truth that scene is just stupid af,but most of the movie is anyway...

Was happy to hear them talk about all the other killers again, usually everyone is forgotten about except Billy. Was cool to hear them finally refer to Mrs. Loomis as Nancy too! I also appreciated Kirby discussing her attack and how she’s healed herself…showing her scar and the whole 9…not just her popping back in like “oh yeah I’m still alive.” They did this film very well and it didn’t feel forced as far as the legacy characters go, which I think 5 kind of felt like. Motive was a little stale, but I think there’s only so much you can do with a motive before people start thinking it’s too absurd. Hopefully, if there’s a 7, they think a little more outside the box with a motive and come up with something really thought provoking. I loved that there were, technically, two sets of Ghostface killers.

It’s been about 24 hours since I got out of the theater and I have to say I loved this movie. It felt like Scream finally grew up rather than being stuck in its hometown for all its life. Was this movie perfect? Nah. I’ve marked below where I get into minor spoilers but overall this is my favorite since the original (and it might actually be my favorite, time will tell). I will also state that I absolutely hated the previous film (Scream? Scream 5? 5cream?) as it felt FAR too meta and up its own ***. I went into this film with the expectation that was the vibe we’d get and…sure wasn’t. I grew up with this franchise (albeit a few years behind. The first Scream movie I saw in theaters was 5cream) so I was afraid when I was younger. Then I became a grown man and realized I could take on any Ghostface with maybe a couple exceptions (Billy & Mickey). But that changed in this movie as I realized this GF was FAR more brutal and relentless. Without a doubt the scariest GF to date (and it’s not even close). I know the bodycount was at least 10. --Below here is where I get into minor spoilerish opinions.-- So…the reveal I felt was lackluster, although I realized by the end the parallels to Scream 2 with the parent looking for avenge their child. They mentioned the dead son/brother so many times that I knew that was something to do with it, although I was thinking it was going to be Stu’s family (yes, from the original movie). I also still think Stu is not dead as they planted those seeds during this movie on top of the original Scream 3 (Scr3am?) plan. Maybe for Scream 7 we’ll see it? I also didn’t care for the lack of consequences there were in this movie. As previously stated, I didn’t care for 5cream but I have to give it to them for knocking off Dewey. It takes guts making that move. This installment drilled into your head that anyone is on the chopping block - and you had Chad, Mindy, Gale, and Kirby all in positions to be mortally wounded, they somehow all survived. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to see any of these characters go, but all of them being in “rough shape”…ugh. One positive from this is that it feels Chad is the Dewey for this generation as he keeps surviving. Also glad Sidney wasn’t in this one. How many times can you bring her back to face off with the killer one last time? Apparently 5. Plus, had they brought Sid back, it wouldn’t have made sense. The killers wanted Sam and it was personal. On a real life note I’m glad Neve Campbell stuck up for herself and her worth. It also felt that Kirby filled the role of hardened veteran old timer just fine in this movie. Give me more Kirby. Overall I’d give this 9/10 and had an absolute blast watching it.

It's genuienly heart breaking to see what they did to Wes with this movie. The fact that Radio Silence have officially turned the franchise into the cliched-braindead-teenage-movie-with-bad-writing-that-gets-overlooked-in-favor-of-attractive-actors-that-can't-act is disgusting especially when you remember that Wes himself didn't want that for his creation. Characters get stabbed almost a dozen time but run around like chickens, a ghost face reveal that creates a huge plot hole, a character that screams in public with people around her but conveniently doesn't get heard, horrible (and i really mean horrible) acting, among some many other things. It's just a horrible movie on a technicality level, but I found how Radio Silence are trying to make "scream" their own thing to be in poor taste. This entire movie is just trying to bank on nostalgia while also establishing a new sidney, a new gale, a new randy and a new dewey, so that radio silence can officially overtake the whole thing while making sure they milk Craven's nostalgic fan base out and move the franchise away from Craven's name. They waited for Wes to die, ruined his creation and are now trying to establish scream as their own thing. f*ck RS and f*ck this movie.
@levischorpioen

@@zaldigr863 People don’t realize that Scream as a franchise is NOT a love letter to slashers. It was always meant as the final nail in the coffin. That’s why Wes came back for Scream 4 to do it again in the midst of the reboot/remake craze. So for this new batch of films to play most of the slasher tropes straight and actually have the heroes be the film nerds instead of the biggest losers (note how final girl to end all final girls Sidney Prescott never liked horror films in the original and called the “unstoppable killer chasing dumb teenagers” thing insulting) is…certainly a choice. My solution is to see this as a reconstruction phase to the original quadrilogy’s deconstruction. Does it go against everything Scream stands for? Yeah, absolutely, but the franchise is in the hands of other people now and it would be meta for Scream to do to itself what the original films did for the genre it tried to kill, but accidentally revitalized.

It felt different compared to the other Scream movies. In the beginning I was a little iffy about it but as the movie continued I was having a good old time

The relationship between the Core Four was especially the highlight for me I love them all so much 🥺🥺🥺 Unrelated but if they end up introducing Christina Carpenter in Scream 7, I would love her to be played by Alexa Demie

At least one of them has to die in the next one. Other than Sam, they are all pin cushions now.

Spoilers here: After seeing it a second time. My anxious anticipation had gone. Definitely love it. Loved that Monday literally gets it right during the going through the rules scene. The apartment break in to ladder set piece was fantastic. Gale's interaction also top tier. Loved the reveal and genuinely thought it was Mindy haha! So much more room for characters to breathe was provided. Delighted with what we got and for me, the pro outweigh the cons. The 180 for Sam's character development was excellent!I liked her in 5 but she was given lot more meat this time.

Definitely agree with you that the film was missing that murder mystery aspect present in the previous films. There weren’t many moments where I was playing the guessing game and looking for clues and red herrings and by the time the killer reveal happened, I was surprised and liked it but I didn’t reflect back on the rest of the film and have those ah-ha moments that tie the film altogether and would make the reveal make sense. Overall though it was a well made film and solid scream film.

I’d say it’s definitely the strongest since 2, without question… I love 3-5, but I think 6 is the first since 2 to not have HUGE issues that take away from the movie in large part!

Just got back from seeing it, have to say for the most part I really enjoyed it. A few things let it down particularly towards the end and as you mentioned with the lack of that mystery element but it was tense, gory and I like the new characters which isn't something I can say about a lot of legacy sequels. Have it 3rd on my ranking at the moment.

I really liked it and trying not to overthink it… the opening was new and entertaining. Gale’s role in this - I liked it. She was segregated from the group because of HER actions and paid the price. I never had an issue with Sam. In Scream 5 I always thought she was playing a muted type of character due to the meds she was on.. in this one, she’s on new meds… fell even harder for Chad and heart broke, Mindy was fine and a little more “Randy” and pleasantly surprised by Kirby. As far as the plot/killer reveal I thought it was good and a new element to it

Great video! :) Finally was able to watch Scream 6 so I can now catch up with your recent videos 😂 I really agree with most of the points that you made. For me it's probably the 2nd most camp movie of the franchise after Scream 3 (funny cuz those 2 are the only ones outside of Woodsboro). Definetly agree a lot about Gale's role in the movie and the appearence of the new characters. And agree about Kirby for like the last act of the movie. Overall I really enjoyed the film but what was a big let down was the motive of the killers. My reaction to it was literally like "oh...okay 👁👄👁". For now I would rank it as my 4th fav movie of the franchise (1>4>5>6>2>3) but that will surely change when I watch the movie multiple times and the recency bias wears out.
